Just a couple days ago I picked up the Viggen for trial, so this is good timing! I'm already pretty sure I want to buy it. I tore through the extremely good tutorials. It's been common for me to see people saying the Viggen is difficult and alien to learn, but I'm finding it quite the opposite? I'm finding it to be an intuitive jet.
This was the first sea skimming anti ship missile in the world when it entered service in 1961 but it was also the height keeper that took the longest to develop. The missile was banned for export and it took 15 yeas for missiles like the Exocet to catch up. The Russians did their thing but all their missiles where high flying and vulnerable to interception. There is really nothing until the 1980's that can shoot down a missile flying at 2 meters altitude above the water. 300 RB-04C missiles where built and then upgraded to the D and E versions. The missile body and warhead lived on in the RB-15 after a simpler RB-04 Turbo (tubojet) was rejected. This missile entered service before all the missile systems the British used in the Falklands which shows how far ahead of it's time it was as none but the latest system (Sea Wolf) could target missiles like this.
Hi Iain, I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to commit to online aircraft simulations, given the time and expense involved to do it well. In the meantime, I enjoy watching videos such as yours. Can I make a suggestion? Include some outside views of your aircraft as it's performing various activities. I would have liked to have seen the actual launches of the missiles from an outside perspective.
Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I have to admit - that I would have loved to have done that. BUT, normally the outside shots come from a separate re-play of the track file in DCS. I don't like switching views when I am actually flying - so I record once from the cockpit and then go back for the outside views. Unfortunately, the Viggen track files are a little bit finicky and I did not get a good one of this mission, so I couldn't get a video of the launch. SOrry about that.
Yeah I noticed that as well. It really needs a good group for it to target. I was testing different modes on it and I found for something like Enigma's server it's better to just use single ship mode. (or just use the RB-75 instead).
I quite enjoy the little "history lessons" at the beginning of your videos! So thanks :)
Glad you like them!

You must have some Viking ancestors!

Great info. Thank you for sharing.

Like the others have said, dig the history lesson. Incredible what they were able to do in the 50s.
Have you tried them against the Moskva?
No. I haven't.
@@Sidekick65 thanks Sidekick...took the plunge and just did the RB04 and navigation training today!

Good to know. Thanks!
As a Swedish-hyphenated-American I wholeheartedly approve. Sueco (Span. For Swedish).😂
Thanks! ;-)
