it's getting there - but still retaining the workflow of something like an SP404 (but more intuitive lol) I actually wouldn't want it to become like a "proper" DAW. Koala works because it's unique. we already have plenty of DAWs!
for ten bucks, who's complaining? then again, i'm someone who is very happy with his twelve dollar purchase of FL mobile studio, and i HATE the desktop app, lol! koala is the perfect combination of sophisticated and simple for a person like me, who suffers from a tendency towards sophistication, which, i asssure you, is not a virtue! @@BIGUMAMI
cont'd. i'm just bugged i didn't spend that ten bucks for koala , earlier, as an android user. all the free samplers are the gross built in soundpack nonsense. ugh. and i use splice/loopcloud and so on, but i want to have command over what samples i use, not the crummy free ones with the free mixer apps! so, fl studio mobile (i am an ableton/reaper guy on desktop) and koala , ftw for android phone users...
i like it because of that. i already have daws! this is like a real mpc, fun! i am 60 years old and grew up with analog and slightly digital gear before the personal computer revolution (althoug i built computer motherboards from scratch as a grade school kid in the 70s) . i love how simple and pared down koala is; that is one of its virtues. i often suffer possibility overload with kit like ableton and reaper, to be honest
I'd like to weigh in as a musician who plays instruments and has jazz, classical and metal training. I love that people are empowered to explore their musical creative sensitivities with a product like Koala, musicians don't need to know music theory, rhythm theory, they just need to have their own aesthetic and a keen ear. I appreciate music software creation as ITS OWN UNIQUE INSTRUMENT, and it really is just as fun and rewarding, and, perhaps , evenmore fruitful than playing real world instruments (because the computer and sharingwith thew internet is baked in). pardon typos, tyiing hurts my hands
I may be biased, but tune in a prepare to be surprised! We do all sorts of things with KS, from classic boombap, house and EDM to super experimental/weird shit (myself usually falling in the latter category)
That was so nice to watch! The result is astounding! Thanks for the video that is beautifully edited by the way. And... Just in case you'd like to try, I also use Koala for live looping or creating synths :D It's a bottomless fun!
Hey hard worker, making content in a hotel room. Thanks for grinding for us! I myself prefer to go screenless rather than dawless. Or maybe an oldschool LCD screen.
I agree! and actually, I'd rather work on a laptop if I'm travelling... but Koala is so good and I use it on my phone all the time, it's just that the ipad has a large screen and I thought it'd be better for youtube!
samesies. i was wrong to hold out and look for free alternatives , as an android user. they don't exist. ten bucks. that's all. i'd also recommend FL mobile studio for 14 bucks. and i HATE the desktop version, i'm an abeleton user, but fl mobile studio is elegance defined, as is koala
17:00 okay, i appreciate all the knowledge you drop, but let's not forget the developer has stated that he wants your music to be created with 'less precious' liberties that lead you down, well, rabbit holes of EQing, mixing, swapping sounds, and so on. Koala has enough power and freedom, yet its limitations are what appeal to me, an Ableton user who is sometimes overwhelmed by that piece of kit's options. I also use Reaper, lol...
absolutely agree. at the end of the day, the most fun I've ever had is on a volca sample, which is as limited as it can be!!! but then again I think that marek has big plans for Koala... I agree that he wants it to be as intuitive as possible, but you can see from its growth that it's eveolving into more of a DAW each and every day imho!
Koala has very similar birth for uses as that of those who used fruity loops back in the day. it may not be taken seriously now but I can tell you people are making serious music on it
Do eny one use koala for dawles setup. I have beatstep pro and you can use it for midi controller and circuit tracks too. But im not sure how to connekct ewerything. Do eny one have some info or video about that. I have samurai mode 2.
so, let me understand: you want to sync Koala to your beatstep which controls your other hardware? you'll probably need an audio/MIDI interface! join my discord, we have a production help channel! discord.gg/rzmbV6q6
Yes i kan do it whit other midi controller. I used to have galaxy tablet pad and it was easy to use whit other gear but i didnt have those extra gear then. Good videos. Always learning more when whach your videos ✌️
You can use koala with external midi as well as sending clock out (PO Sync). It also has midi learn so you can assign buttons to parameters. I use koala on android phone and tablet with an akai MPD218 controller.

My man making videos and killer tracks while traveling, that shows love for your craft and music. Have a nice return home, amigo!
thank you! I do it fo' da love of the gameee
Man, Koala’s almost becoming a sort of workstation for digital audio!

@@BIGUMAMI Koala can work anywhere. its on your phone. case closed.

It needs automation and arrangement. I read tweets of people using the new beta and they were saying it has FX Automation.
16:20 you can modify multiple pads at the same time holding the edit button while you select them
awesome, thanks!
I’m glad you like it , I invite to check what the members of the community do every week with Koala Sampler it’s impressive 🙌
I'll check it out! I just made a new video about Koala (might be a weird one lol ua-cam.com/video/3UhD2dd_T0g/v-deo.html)
will do! I just published a new koala vid - this might get weird though lol ua-cam.com/video/3UhD2dd_T0g/v-deo.html

that is so freaking hypnotic. love it! 24:00
my fave kinda videos. just explorin shit. love koala big ups
this makes me smile. unfortunately the "just exploring" doesn't work in the algo lolll
big ups? can i get an amen break, pitch-bent and resampled???

Great video man! Don't know why I hesitated in purchasing the upgrade!

sitting in the meeting next day with this jam boppin in his head
you know already ahah
Koala is best money i ever spent on an app.

Koala thrives for mixing when using AUM, where you can expand the outputs with Auv3 plugins.
indeed! I'm still trying to wrap my head around it tho... it's so different from all the rest of the DAWs
this track is really dope should be released!
I'm working on it!
the main virtue of koala is its limitations, in spite of its power and ease of use.

You just talked me outta buying the ep 133 ko 2 ❤
just don't tell teenage engineering! I like those guys. they've been pretty cool with me. not cool enough to send me one tho... 😂

it was meant to be exported to other daws, right? otherwise why have that ALS option? very cool! thank you, and thank koala devs!
awesome feature, I agree!

There's a lil wideness that Koala lacks but its close
You are right, that’s weird
Koala is awesome, sp404 and other samplers too but let’s be real everything ends up inside ableton at the end
