How to Build a Garage Addition 22: Installing Spray Foam Insulation

- During this episode of How to Build a Garage Addition, we are finally installing spray foam insulation. Well, I'm not, the clients contractor is. If you have been following my for a while, you know we don't typically use spray foam insulation for our walls. That's not because I don't believe in it, it's because most clients aren't will to pay for it. This form of insulation is roughly three times the cost of fiberglass. However, the other huge advantage you don't typically hear about when talking about installing spray foam insulation, is the structural benefit. It's so rigid once installed that it locks down the walls really well.
Curious if you would spend three times the money on your project to ensure a 100% air seal? I have mixed feelings about it, but know this client will have very little heating costs once completed.

I want to see if the foam distorts the look of the tin on the outside. There is a dark blue shed around my area that was spray foamed and the metal looks wavy on the outside.
Excellent, Nothing beats closed cell spray foam. Thanks Kyle. I will use it the time I build anything that requires insulation.
I am fully impressed! It’s just a complete
Kyle thanks for showing us the spray foam insulation. This is a really cool building! Looking forward to the next video!
Now you're on the hook to show us the floor installation. We gotta see them putting in the radiant floor for sure. I'd also be interested in what equipment they will need for a shop that size...sure I can go look it up...but "specs" and reality are usually different. :)
Awesome addition to your videos thank you for taking the time to show us this.
For that climate zone one can appreciate that. We had a structure in Wisconsin much the same. At 6 below even out two cats were enjoining the warm floor and overall great climate inside. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to show us Kyle.
Fascinating; thank you for taping and sharing.
Spray foam is the best. I had my attic done with open cell a few years ago WOW!!! sure it cost me right around 10 grand but what a difference in comfort and in Georgia the saving on AC cost.
I smash the like button before vid even start. I know it's about to be fire. I hope one day you'll be the one building my dream garage.
Excellent job I’m learning a lot from watching your videos
Kyle you red my mind, I was gonna ask about the electrical...
Gotta love the tuba music in the background 😂
I look forward to being able to swing a structure like that down the road. Spray foam, heated floor, dedicated isolated washout bay, a lift. That's my slice of pie right there...
Spray foam makes good beer coolers. LOL. It's always good to tape off anything you don't want foam attached to.
Look forward to seeing the progress on this one!
Thanks Kyle!
Perfect. Good luck
Man those outside outlets are going to be a pain to trim. Love your buildings man!
