Glad to see Boss make left handed versions of this pedal

@@wouterdeheus3626Pedals usually only work with right handed guitars, but as you can see this one works with left handed guitars!
The ps-2 is a wonderful box of (weird) tricks.
The delays are almost like an echoplex (minus the warbly repeats)
It can do static detuned chorusing in manual mode,12 string sounds (oct up) ,synthy tones in oct down mode with a fuzz and earthquaker rainbow machine type things too.Oh and if you want to sound like Early slowdive you need this box!
I had one, sold it,regretted it and bought another.

I bought a mint one in late 1994, still have it. The delay is different to the DD-3 timewise and the shifter is a bit comical. Great fun pedal, I must dig it out again. Enough technology crammed into it to run an airport!

The first pedal I ever owned... at the time, it was a massively long delay in a compact pedal. A friend of mine told me the PS2 used a different kind of delay chip, which gives the pedal a different tone to other Boss delays of the era.
If you set it to Manual (4) you can make it slightly off-tune for a nice chorus sound.
You need to adjust the 'Fine/Manual' knob to adjust the exact delay time.. to get the 2 second delay out of the pedal.
Like the visual effects to match the sounds!!! Groovy!!!

I bought this pedal around 1989-90 and recently dusted it off and added it to my pedal board. After using it for about 2 minutes I remembered why I put it in the closet. The delay is harsh and the repeats break up almost instantly, not what I wanted from a digital delay. For me, using it while playing clean is not the most enjoyable experience, playing dirty is fine cause you can't hear the way the delay breaks up. The biggest issue is the Balance knob, its too heavily skewed to the wet side. You have to almost turn it completely off to make is useable. If you are looking to have non stop wet delay repeats or make spacey effects noises then you will enjoy this pedal. For me I think Ill be putting this back in the box.

Bought this pedal used 24 years ago and it finally stopped working! replaced it yesterday (used) from ebay; now my pedalboard is complete again.
you use the tuner out with the manual pitch shift to get it to sound good... tune it to a note

I have one of these, but I just use it for some moderate delays for solos (with a healthy bit of reverb after to smooth it out). For that "manual" pitch shift, you need to move it to something a little more musical like 5th's (or a tiny detune).

Great demo Bro ! I still have this PS-2 on my pedal board and still get to use it on gigs where i play electric bass .. it still works ..
re 5:50 - the Fine Manual knob varies from 1x to 0.25x the value of the setting; your knob was halfway, which means half of 2sec.
I have one since 1994, frankly I have only ever used it as a delay, yes yes I know ... many will be wondering "so what are you going to do? ... a delay would not have been better and that's enough?" ... but it was given to me! Only once did I use it as a pitch shifter in a solo where I played the fourth note along with it. I continue to use it exclusively as a short delay .... don't be mean to me ... but I've never fully understood or appreciated it ... too lysergic! : D

This is the wrong reviewer for this pedal. I suspect it's also the wrong pedal for you.
A real artist can find a use for anything

Seriously though, these pedals have a TON to offer with a little more creativity and curiosity. For some guy knocking out rote blues licks they are not.
I love how you just ran in horror from mode 4 and never got to the very particular self-oscillation of the MIJ PS2. Bravo for being self-aware enough to know your limitations.
