I hate using payphones with a passion because they eat up your money before you get to make your call! It can end up costing the equivalent of something like £10-£15 for a five minute conversation. It’s expensive! By the time you get connected you’ve already spent at least £3, which is the equivalent of about four dollars.
When you asked "Jessie are you coming behind?", do you know she answered you? It was short "Uh ha" But so nice to see! And eating French fries!! So great to see all the kids thriving and doing so well!! Your very hard work is paying off!!!
I had to go back and Watch, but you're right! She did answer me! She said hungry a few days ago! I darn near fell over! She meant it, too! Yes, there is HOPE!! 😊❤❤❤
I just think the progress Obed had made in his functionality and independence in the few years is miraculous to me. Abi and Jesse both have gotten so much better too. You have done such an amazing job with your kids. God bless your family.
Obed trying to hold the drink on hid own was amazing ! Jessie did not like the first fry but ate the other 2 that's grest ! It's great that you all went out for lunch ! 😊
u guys are fantastic, there is no words for you work and lovely family, we are really lucky in this life to enjoy just ur family content, keep going always like this, incredible.
Bethany looking after her siblings and making sure they get out safe from the car 💕💕💕 such lovely siblings ! Also David bumping into her was such a brother thing to do 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm 23 and have never used a payphone, but I remember growing up seeing them at the mall/gas stations/airports/etc.! I remember when I was very young my dad had a pager/beeper, but a few years later he started using cell phones! I also don't really understand crypto at all LOL
I remember the pagers! My parents had a mobile phone that looked like....a PHONE! With the coiled cord and an enormous antenna on the roof of the car! They were ahead of their time, I suppose...🤣😂😉😄❤
90s baby here, my father worked as a repairman on a beeper factory. Early 2000s and he had a flip phone, while we had to use the house phone to call our friends!
Yes! I was a teen in the 80's and have vivid memories of using pay phones and making sure I had quarters when I left the house. Takes me back!! Glad y'all got an impromptu field trip and lunch together! Looks like it was a good time by all! 🤗💗🤗
I’m a few years older than you guys and I remember when pay phones cost a dime! I think the price increased in 1980 or so. I remember when my kids were pre-teens and I got my first beeper. All of a sudden I was reachable. In my parents day, only radio, no TV. It’s all relative. :)
It's so crazy seeing all these roads I'm super familiar with! I live right down the street in FFX Co! Happy to see such an amazing family in our wonderful area.
The work and the care and the concern are all deeply impressive, but what raises this family to a level that awes me is all the smiles and cheer and positivity. I'm sure frustration and sadness occasionally visit, but I just don't imagine they get invited to stay for dinner.
I am old too! Pay phones were definitely in my days. My grand daughter loves to play with our old red phone with rotary dial. Its just a blast from the past! Glad to see Jessie eating french fries.
Hi guys! I am happy you all went out together to have a nice lunch! Boy I remember having a quarter in my shoe in case I needed to make a phone call hahaha my mother used to make sure when we had to walk to school and friends houses that in case we needed to call home we had a quarter to use a pay phone! Do not feel bad guys I am showing my age too lol! I def remember how we actually had beepers before cell phones remember those lol?! And remember the first mobile phones were HUGE!! Boy how times have changed!!! Hannah I think you would enjoy making your own lunch! You are such a smart young lady I know you can do it!! Glad to see you all!!
Hannah making your own lunch is actually fun. Think of it this way you can put something in there that your really looking forward to eat. Plus when you make your own lunch it can be anything. Like leftover soup, stew, anything.
Good to see Jessie eat, high five 🖐🏼 I was surprised to see her grab the potato fry, that I had to rewind to watch again. How did she know to grab the fry, and to grab where, when you held the fry out to her?
I am 61 years old and oh yes I remember payphones. We actually have one in our antique store here in town and it's really cool it's a wooden one and I've had my picture taken inside of it. I love the idea of cashless society absolutely! I also love red Robin and I've never tried that payment system I'll have to try that sometime. Of course I love love love your videos keep them coming!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's great you got to enjoy a fun family outing! Oh yes, I remember having one corded phone on the wall when I was in college or operator-assisted calls (such as calling collect, with my parents' phone card, or using a pay-phone), When I was little at one point I thought my parents were around in the Roaring 20's (really that was my grandfather's generation). I was off by a decade. I'm impressed that Joe is into and actually used crypto-currency at a regular restaurant. That's something that is still beyond my understanding and not on my radar anytime soon. But exciting to hear about! Take care as you enjoy the last few weeks of "summer break."
Good to see that you all went out for a liesurely lunch and obed held his cup so well, that is progress.hannah is certainly the culinary expert. Hugs and smiles to you all🤗🤗❤❤
I graduated from high school in 1996 and played sports. Coming home from away games, our coach would stop the bus at a gas station when we were getting close to the school, so that we could call our parents from a pay phone to tell them what time to meet us at the school! If I was out of town, I would use my mom’s “calling card” to call her. I still remember what the pin number was! 😁
I would love to know what kind of stuff the kids like, like their favorite things...music, movies, shows, food, etc. That would be a fun video from them, i think.
hey! i love your guys videos! i was wondering if you ever considered braiding jessie's hair? that long thick hair would look so beautiful in dutch braids! 💕 it would also keep her hair out of her face! love to see obed so happy, and grooving in the red robbin!
Too funny about the braids! Omg...you would never believe what we go through! Check out our video about Jesse and her fabulous hair- that one explains the situation! 🤣😉😄❤💇♀️
I am 40 and I remember very well using pay phones. I wasn't aloud to go anywhere without a quarter for emergencies. I remember my friends dad worked for one of the first cell phone companies. They had a car phone which was sooo cool back in the early 90s. I remember calling my parents from it and was so excited. It went something like this.. "Hi mom and dad, guess where I am calling from? The car, how cool is this! Okay I have to go this is very expensive." I want to say it was like $6 a minute or something crazy. 🤣😂 Times have changed!
1st : hilarious 🤣 was when Jessie threw the French Frie🍟 on the floor, so cute. 2nd: I remember paying 25 cents on the pay phone and rushing through my purse 👛for 5 cents before the call falls 😂 😂
I TOTALLY remember pay phones! There is a country song by Travis Tritt called, “Here’s a Quarter Call Someone Who Cares” (wait..😂🤣😂) ok - my 22 yr old daughter asked what a quarter had to do with calling someone?!!!!! So nice to see the family out! Jessie eating French fries! Yay! Thanks for the fun episode!!
Nice to see your family out having lunch! I'm so old I remember having a party line phone. Seems like it was always the same woman on the phone when we wanted to use it.
Hi from NY yes i remember pay phones and collect calls. You always had change on you. I would go rollerskating and bring a quarter to make sure my ride would pick me up and the music would be so loud you could hardly hear on phone lol. The fun parts is when you would find a quarter in the phone lol people forget there money lol..we had no cell phones ...we were just comming out with cordless home phones lol ....im 46 and remember it all...lol the old days...
Hi. We had payphones in our day as wrll. Here in south africa we were given 50c to take wherever we went if we needed to call home for a lift or just to let our parents know when we were coming home. I'm 56 and I clearly remember them all in supermarkets and cinemas. So glad u all went out for lunch xxx
Hannah I'm rooting for you to get past your apprehension of this new thing!!! You can do it!!! you are A.MAZ.ING. and you rock your job and sooo many other things you got THIS!! 🤗💗🤗
Aww! It's nice to see you all out. You know I've never had Red Robin! Lol it was funny to see Jesse put the fry on the floor. Gosh I remember pay phones. I still have a hard time using my cell, I gotta ask my 15yo son to help me sometimes! Haha I'm 43 and my name is Jessica. My mom used to call me Jesse. I miss her, we lost her last year in June. I love watching your videos they help me alot when I'm having one of my days. You all continue to take care of yourselves and each other! Hi Bethany!!!! You are a big help to your parents and siblings! Keep it up!!!
Well I was born in 1988 so I actually remember seeing pay phones around especially at gas stations. I would always check the bottom for quarters to pocket. I think I’ve used a pay phone before too because I remember it giving me my quarter back when nobody answered. I remember the walking by a ringing pay phone and my anxiety jumping so high because I didn’t know if I should answer it lol. Also I’ve always wanted to go in an actual phone booth like you see in the movies!
Awesome video as usual!!! I remember having a beeper and no cell phone so when I would get a page I would have to fumble around for change n then head to the nearest pay phone!!!
I remember having a pay phone at secundary school too, and if you put in two five (guilder cents at the time, now we use euro 's) at the same time, itd count it as a quarter! Maybe it was the same weight?! I don 't know, but it is a fun memory. Greetings from Marieke, the Netherlands
I’m 74. I surely do remember pay phones. I still see a few here and there. The only cell phone I have is a cheap flipfone that I use for emergencies. I like it that way. Hey, I wonder where Clark Kent changes into Superman, being that the phone booths are gone?!. Also, I don’t do any banking on line and I know some people that don’t even have a computer. Yep, I’m a dinosaur 🦖🤪
How did you guys figure out whether the kids use the straight white cane vs the foldable red and white? I’ve notice that David, Abi & Jessie use the straight white while Hannah and Bethany use the foldable red & white.
Hi Kenzie! Not sure how to answer, but we are still calling it a break! 😂😉 We always like to keep our options open, but for now we have stepped back. ❤
I am 63 and I definitely remember pay phones, and how the ones in a booth always smelled horrible. Do you remember when the Brady Bunch put a pay phone in their house? Our first cell phone was in the 80's and it was huge! I love 70's music, especially Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, and Neil Diamond.
I remember pay phones, a family member of mine worked for a phone company so i also got to see the larger "cell" phones that were huge and didn't fold up to fit into a pocket. I saw it many years after they were used though. So, yall aren't as old as those phones!
Hello.....I also remember the pay phones. I used them quite a bit They were everywhere back in the 70's It's amazing how kids these days don't know anything about them or those rotation phones that everyone had once upon a time....I'm a teacher and I asked the kids do any of you know how to address a envelope....not any of the kids knew what I was talking about....technology has come a long way. My first cell was a flip phone...thanks for sharing....
I'm Joel's age, I remember seeing payphones, but I've never used one. And yes, we need the video about how you met and then about all your jobs. I hope you brought Hannah a burger, if it were me, I'd be mad.
I'm 25 and in the UK, I have vauge memories of some people using the payphone outside of my school when I was in the first year of secondary school but I think by then most kids in my year had got phones
Looking forward to watch a video you guys talking about jobs experiences. I'm tour guide and a flight attendant , in the future. So, this is gonna be so interesting to me. 😻
I married a cop in 1968. At the start of each shift every officer had to show they had a dime so they could call in to the station. We are still married and have evolved with the times, although he still has a flip phone!
I definitely used pay phones back in the day, lol..and the trick where If you didn’t have a quarter and had to call collect, you’d have to say your name, you’d say “ I’m ready to be picked up” instead, lol.
So funny, I always recognize where you are since you are local too! I stopped into Cameron’s just yesterday! Hope your son is doing well at Mason, I just graduated in May, best of luck.
That's very true, I was born in Kenya and most of my family is still there. No running water, no electricity, but EVERYONE in the family has a phone, all charged off of a single generator in the multi-family homestead. It also makes it very easy to send money back home.
I grew up in the era of payphones n rotary phones. I know all about the pre mobile phone stuff. It was a struggle to have to stand there n wait for the person in front of u to get off of the phone n worrying if u had enough quarters for ur phone call.
I'm 44 and I remembered using payphones when I was a kid. I didn't get my first cellphone until my late 20s. I still use cash in stores especially in the dollar stores.
When I was 10, my older sister was the only woman installing land lines in her Ma Bell garage!! Pay phones were everywhere!! Later, my sister and her husband acquired a wooden phone booth and equipped it with a pay phone that was hooked up in their condo.
I just turned 36 a week ago. I remember using pay phones until Junior High, I had my first cell phone( also flip phone) when I turned 16. My 13 yr old has never seen a pay phone. Also lucky ducks going to Red Robin. That's one of my favorite burger joints.
Ive used a pay phone at our middle school. We had a pay phone for a few years at my grocery store job but they took it out. Some of the light rail stations here might still have a pay phone but I don’t go out much so I don’t know.
I was laughing at the payphone thing! I am almost 31, so when I was about eight or nine, I got a new O and M instructor, and even at that point, something she did with all her young people was make sure we knew how to find and use a payphone! I can remember this so clearly because I was half fascinated, half really scared of these weird devices that you had to walk inside! Also, I hated, and still hate, talking on a phone that isn't familiar to me and/or making a call to someone I don't know well (yes, adulting is sometimes a nightmare for really weird me LOL!), so I did not enjoy this process! Looking back now, though, I'm really glad she gave me the experience and insisted when I hesitated. Did I ever use it for real... no, but I'm glad I know what it is and how it worked. I completely empathize with Hannah. I am also very resistent to new things and have tons of anxiety around change, although I've learned that I shouldn't share those feelings with anyone because very few people are going to care and all it does is make other people's lives more difficult. In a way I'm really glad to see that she doesn't feel the need to mask that or pretend it doesn't exist. It is so much easier to move on with life if you can admit something is hard and then do it anyway. Glad you all got to enjoy an outing together, and everything worked out okay for everyone!
I remember the days of payphones. I'm in the UK and you ALWAYS had to make sure you had 20p AT LEAST on you to make a phone call. Even my secondary (high) school had a pay phone to use. Many a time i had to call collect to tell my mother i was going to be home late for one reason or another, or to ask if a friend could come over for dinner. This was back in early 2000, So 21 yrs ago. (I turned 34 last month). Very fond memories of payphones, and some funnier memories of the 'contact cards' that certain 'ladies of the evening' would leave slotted into the frame of the phone box! 😂
I’m 37 and Swedish. There was definitely payphones when I was younger. (Now they’ve converted it to a book exchanging box) But I kinda never used them. If I was out I was usually at a friends place or I just walked home. There was phone cards though. You bought them and used them to call on public phones with. I assume they took coins too but didn’t use them much so I don’t know. I got my first cellphone at 16. It was my moms old one that she got a year or two before. That was also the time I went to school in town and felt uncomfortable not being able to get in touch with my parents if I needed help. Nowadays I don’t go anywhere with my phone because I am very uncomfortable with the idea of not being able to call for help. =)

It is their own personal choice and preference. 😊❤
If I had any cane for any reason
I’d go the route of Molly Burke and customize it and find a way to have a certain design on it
I remember using the pay phone in my child hood with my parent's. Loved those days
Are you planing to upload videos again? Or are you taking a break?
I remember the collect calls. Some people got real crafty and talked very fast when they told the operator their name. Yes I remember the pay phones.
I remember pay phones, a family member of mine worked for a phone company so i also got to see the larger "cell" phones that were huge and didn't fold up to fit into a pocket. I saw it many years after they were used though. So, yall aren't as old as those phones!
Hello.....I also remember the pay phones. I used them quite a bit
They were everywhere back in the 70's
It's amazing how kids these days don't know anything about them or those rotation phones that everyone had once upon a time....I'm a teacher and I asked the kids do any of you know how to address a envelope....not any of the kids knew what I was talking about....technology has come a long way. My first cell was a flip phone...thanks for sharing....
I totally remember those phones my mom always told me and my dad don't forget quarters.
Miss you guys, hope everyone is doin great
I'm 34 years old and I definitely remember using a pay phone.
I'm Joel's age, I remember seeing payphones, but I've never used one. And yes, we need the video about how you met and then about all your jobs. I hope you brought Hannah a burger, if it were me, I'd be mad.
Haha yeah I was wondering where was Hannah.
very cool to hear you are a success at crypto currency. Food is the best result haha. Anyway hello gorgeous family x
Mr Joe can chat as fast as he drives lol 😆
I'm 25 and in the UK, I have vauge memories of some people using the payphone outside of my school when I was in the first year of secondary school but I think by then most kids in my year had got phones
Yes I remember the payphone days . Good times
Good to see you beautiful family!! You all look good!!
Just dropping by to say hi, hope you’re all doing well! Love to the whole fam 😊💗🙏🏼
I hope you’re all doing well! Miss seeing the family on here. ❤️
So funny, I always recognize where you are since you are local too! I stopped into Cameron’s just yesterday! Hope your son is doing well at Mason, I just graduated in May, best of luck.
Had to use the payphone coming home from the U KY...dark and rainy...thank heavens I had a stun gun....saved my life.
Hi beautiful people! 🖐🏾💚❤️💛
"We hijacked your lunch I hope it's okay" 😂 Karen you're hilarious!
I remember the pay phones 📱 It doesn’t seem that long ago to me, crazy now that I think about it.
Missing your lovely vlogs ❤ hope all is well
I just turned 36 a week ago.
Yea I hated when payphones did that
I was laughing at the payphone thing!
Its OK, Karen & Joe.. .Red Robin has the best endless FrIeS around!!!
I love your videos 📷
Stay blessed🙏🇪🇹
I remember using dimes for pay phones and we had telephone booths outside and in the subway stations as well! Those were the days, I miss!
