To me that sounds like an obvious projection of your own self conscious and insecure nature as a protection mechanism against looking critically at your own ego structure, to negatively label and in your mind put down someone else in order to not have to face the uncomfortness of having to look at yourself, your own biases and flaw character structures.
The way you guys talk about Trump is very similar from a psychological/psychoanalysis perspective to how weak minded people tend to gossip and judge others, just that now with the internet age you can project yout insecurities online to a global figure, and also have the ego reassurement and strengthening by other projectioning people agreeing with you. The mainstream media, (payed by the Elite 1%) knows this and hence feeds on it.

An interesting fact is that Trump actually kept a book of Hitlers speeches by his bedside according to an interview with Vanity Fair done with him in 1990. While simply having a piece of historical literature does not mean with align with the values in it but it certainly brings things in question.
