John McDougall is the best. His advice on diet is timeless and still to this day is the best advice out there. Kudos!

So right on, he's ahead of the whole medical biz, and I call it a business deliberately.

Great interview. I would wonder whether or not Dr. McDougall's position has changed any on removing metal fillings. I had mine removed several years ago before I became vegan. They use a shield to keep the metal from going into my mouth and a device that kept me from breathing the vapors. Within two days after having them removed my knees which up to that point were hurting me tremendously suddenly stopped hurting.

Mercury takes more than fifty days to stop showing up in urine.

I was also taking a natural detoxifying supplement at the time. Which helped tremendously.

NJ Liven You're lucky you didn't go to a low-income clinic that didn't use such precautions, because I certainly didn't have any of that done & would not have known to request it. I certainly am more outspoken now about my own health.

I'm a licensed dental hygienist, and the first reason for the rubber shield is it's needed to create a filling that will last. Without it, moisture gets between the layers of filling material and leaves microscopic crevices that are channels for bacteria to get under the filling and cause deep decay fairly quickly, like 6-8 years or something. And yes, it's quite important to keep all the metal particles from going down your neck, as well as controlling the vapors. No shield, no filling, that's how I personally see it. I'm outta there. I'm not afraid to climb out of the chair and head out the door.

downbntout & NJ Liven ~ Thank you both for sharing ~ Blessings~
I have a history of abusing my body for survival reasons, and emotional reasons & now that I've started to eat a healthier vegan diet, I find that I'm still full of toxicity mainly because the dentist I was able to afford was not the greatest, perhaps the best in that clinic, but I know that I swallowed a lot of the debri, and inhaled the fumes. I've been experiencing a lot of heart burn & gurd in the last year & a half, even though I am eating a fully plant-based diet (Raw Til 4) & in the last 2 weeks, I've been experiencing bile acids as soon as I begin waking up in the morning, and now more recently, I taste bile between meals, and i'm not restricting any calories, I have been eating enough high carb fruits in the am til 4pm starchy carbs, to the point of feeling full and satisfied. I feel like now tha I may have finally learned the proper way to eat, it's too late, because the amount of abuse I experienced as a child, and then the ignorance of the mainstream medical establishment along with my struggles to make ends meet, lead me on a path of internal acidity, without realizing the extent of the damage to my body. I wish everyone the wisdom to take the best care of their bodies and mental health, by simpifying their lives, reducing their own stress & the stress on the environment. ~ Namaste ~

I made the mistake of making the decision of getting my mercury fillings taken out in 2012 & now I'm understanding why my health took such a dive even when i juiced... every time I watch the last 9 minutes of this, I cringe with horror, 'cause I'm in serious ill health even though I eat RT4 as a Vegan, & if that's not so bad, there's also the fact that I had my gallbladder removed in 1996, I didn't know then how they've lied to us - even about health & even in 2012 I didn't think people were ignorant about Mercury too.

So the last part, was it a private phone conversation?

It takes 20 or 30 years for a B12 deficiency to happen? I think Dr. McDougal's viewpoint on B12 has changed over the last 25 years. Much better / safer - just to use a B12 supplement and not worry about the subject.
