I found it was helpful to schedule a 9-5, 5 day week where the weekend was sacred. Treat a Phd like paid employment and when it's time to party, party! When it's time to work, work!
I'm so glad I found you and this channel. stepping into completing the first year of my PhD and I am definitely following your tips and tricks :)
I am amazed how all these tips would come in handy even for a would be social science PhD student (like me). I have been following you for over a year now, sometimes I feel things overwhelming but then I realise thank goodness I know all these things now, I can be better prepared. Thanks Andy. Great work. Love and good wishes from India.
Great advice for new PhD students! I'll add to also start writing early in the PhD and write up as you go along!
There's basically two ways to write up your thesis : either write up as you go along, or wait until your research is finished then write up at the end. There's no one method better than the other, just what's the right way for each individual.
Another jewel. #4 on read, read, read can't be stressed enough. I found it helpful to also study the structure of different dissertations. Helped me to realize that it's not a cookie-cutter format involved.
Would u further explain how u analyse a dissertation. I am also finding difficulty on doing so because it feels like it’s quite similar.
@@Ipsa.S in a workshop I attended, they asked us to look at the contents pages of several dissertations to get an understanding of the variety of ways a thesis can be structured.
I found that the 5 theses (chapters) with one overarching intro and conclusion works for me. So, basically 6 mini literature reviews instead of one.
I hope that makes sense.
Superb Advice as always! I'm really glad this channel exists!
Great advice! Thank you!
Awesome tips! Thanks a million.
Priceless advice, thank you🙏
Hey thanks for the videos, I juste want you to make one about getting evolved into tedx talk how to do it and what I the steps that we have to take to be a speaker in it. Thanks
I’m going to be so good at this. I love reading and don’t give a crap how annoyed supervisors look 😂
I’m in my 4th week so far and already I can’t find my bearing. Worst of it, is because of the language. (Korean language). How do I deal with this? I’m majoring in social welfare.
The more the time passes the more you look like a prophet. 🤓
Wise old bearded face indeed!!!!
Good thing he didn't have 11 tips as he'd run out of fingers.
