    Here is something that you have probably never heard of before, Scott. In the 1950s and 1960s there was a savings account called a "Christmas Club". You would deposit 25 cents or 50 cents each week into it, and then withdraw the funds in November, to use for Christmas shopping. But, the best part of opening a "Christmas Club" account, was that the bank gave you a gift. Each year in my little hometown, the gift would be various pieces of the Anchor Hocking, American Prescut set!! They all went right into my Mother's hope chest, and in 1970 when I got married, I had dozens of pieces of the set. It has grown huge over the years, as it is readily available in thrift stores, like you said. Don't discount how lovely a table looks, set with it! I use the round platters as large dinner plates.

      Oh yes indeed my grandmother always participated in Christmas Club at the bank!

    I know you know more than I ever possibly could, but cringing when you picked up the basket by the applied handle.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  2 роки тому +1

      Um…..that is what the handle is for. 😊 Applied handles are fused to the glass and absolutely nothing wrong in picking up the glass by the handle. It’s not going to break off unless the piece was already damaged. Why would it make you cringe to pick something up by the handle?

    Hi, Scott ..... Great video, thank you. You got some Gems there ! That Fraunfelter Bird of Paradise vase was gorgeous. The design and shape. That photo of their whole Tea set reminded me of our Clarice Cliff style. The bright Reds, Oranges, Greens and Yellows in the big and bold designs. Just great. Wonderful couple of Glass Lightshades. Geeez, it would break my Heart to see them go. Fully understand if you haven't got anywhere to use them. And, haven't those Plates come up really great. Credit to you, Scott. Again, thanks so much. Oh wow! What a great torchiere lamp shade. You are 100% correct- my daughter ran through the house and down came my grandma’s lamp. I was heartbroken, but my daughter probably felt worse. I found a replacement shade after many years. It will never be as good as grandma’s. I also bought a reducer for the light bulb socket. It was too annoying with those mogul bulbs. Great find 😊

    0:36 You mean 'Wexford' and 'Star of David' Patterns. The are both in the American Press cut category...right?

    • @lmiller5671
      @lmiller5671 2 роки тому +2

      Both EAPG early American pressed glass category. I know this pattern as 'Star of David' from Anckor Hawking... I see it listed many places as American pressed glass??? Hmmm?

    • @lmiller5671
      @lmiller5671 2 роки тому +2

      Oops sp. "Anchor"

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  2 роки тому +2

      No. Anchor Hocking never called that pattern “star of David”. The correct name given to the glass by Anchor Hocking is “Early American Prescut”. You will see it listed on EBay often as “star of David” but this is a name given to the glass by some collectors and not the official name chosen by Anchor Hocking. To further complicate matters….neither Wexford or Hocking’s Early American Prescut are examples of EAPG. Early American Pattern Glass was manufactured roughly from 1850 to 1920. 😊
