@@robertsimon6674 We can ask that they stay in their lanes, stick with what they know and not extrapolate it to be the nature of reality because it is not. It is still materialism which they are now renaming physicalism which it is not as it does not have an understanding of consciousness, mind, or forces. It is still elemental; based on the macro elements and through the quantum field a realization that there are a zillion micro elements. Still, none of this is consciousness (the hard problem) or an understanding of mind as emerging with quantum events. It is best to stick to facts, isn’t that what science is supposed to do. The elemental: the elements are awesome but what is not apparent is more awesome than what is apparent because it is fundamental to their existence.

Consciousness is just being aware of your surroundings and all life has it on different levels and it is no more than a biological process, there's no support for duelism in science, no support for the soul/ghost in the machine but plenty against.

We have to start somewhere, understanding is the purpose of civilization I think and to pass it on so the next one may surpass the previous ones discoveries.
If someone’s position starts with a strawman distortion of any claim then that certainly makes it seem amusing. I have never, in all of my years in academia, witnessed someone claim to understand the universe in its entirety or state that we would ever understand it all. Of course, that might be the goal, but it sounds amusing to you because it seems futile, yes? While I don’t disagree that there will likely always be some mysteries, that doesn’t mean that those efforts have no merit, value, and that there is no point in putting energy into it. I’m not implying that this is your position, just putting it in perspective. Germ theory, for example, was once considered foolish and a waste of time. Thankfully, for many of us, those who could ignore the laughter and ridicule continued to explore and advance their field of study. What seems silly now may end up being revolutionary and advance our species to a remarkable level.

Richard Dawkins would prefer to think we came from an alien prototype than that consciousness is fundamental or that mind emerged with quantum events. Anything that suggests a universal consciousness; a self, posits what has been referred to as god. RD is not at home with that: So if consciousness arising from elements is beginning to seem ridiculous, and the hard problem remains, it must be aliens. The higher age perspective was fourteen versions of the human to a human prototype coming into existence in one universal cycle. That makes sense.

Why do photons interact with the eye? Why does the eye interact with photons? At what tiny level does that interaction occur? From that simplicity arises the beginning of the development of the eye. Apply that to literally every concept of what we call life. And there you have it.
Wal Thornhills proposal that gravity has polarity means all globes are actually massive shells with low density protected interiors providing habitats for life to be everywhere and it can on occaison emerge to inhabit the surface as extremeophiles. Civilisations from interiors would likely explore using drones perfectly adapted to the environment they explore giving real time sensory feedback and being self repairing or breeding and would effect the places they explore. If those that sent them disconected for some reason the drones would endure and maybe have an idea they were part of something bigger but what?

I feel like too much focus is on trying to replicate early Earth conditions to see if life forms, instead of trying to replicate early Solar System conditions... Maybe the life is just the outcome of star formation.

There could also have been an early life bottleneck that left a fragment of a massive amount of life to them propagate what we have now

We underestimate the alienness of species right here. For instance zoology assumes monkeys evolved binocular vision because they swung through trees. Birds fly through trees, however -- at speed. Their binocular vision, therefore, must be equal to & even better than ours. When still, large birds will usually turn their heads to look at you closely. On the other side of their heads their other eye watches for other in-coming birds esp predators. That's life in the aerial world. Birds can likely, therefore, switch their entire vision fields between operating together & separately. This immense calculative power is expressed by a brain less than a 100th the size of ours.
Um name an animal with one eye? Because that's what binocular vision is: having two (or more) eyes.
