    As a woman who spent years riding the NYC subway, having been assaulted and molested frequent times, I'm grateful there's still men like Daniel Penny who'll stand up and neutralize the threat! Should he have waited until this man actually physically carried out his threats? What if your mother was sitting n that car, terrified? Or your child? Clearly they need security guards in subway cars so people like Mr. Penny aren't called upon to protect riders at his own cost.

    Neely’s threats were very much sincere. He had been arrested over 40 times for multiple offenses several of them violent. For example: assault of an old woman, attempted kidnapping of a child, and a few other assaults.
    None of this is me trying bash the guy. It’s sad that a man died. I’m just trying to clarify that he had a violent history and was a threat to the people on that train.
    Had the NYC justice system actually done the right thing and either put him in prison or institutionalized him, he might have been alive right now.
    Don’t blame the citizen for standing up and protecting women and children. Blame people like Alvin Bragg who use the judicial system to go after regular people and political opponents instead of locking up actual criminals.

      Considering Penny would have no way of knowing that history it has no bearing on his decision to do what he did in that moment. Penny also could have utilized a different method of restraint. He chose a hold that could easily result in death, and as such, used deadly force against an unarmed person causing a disturbance.
      You talk about locking up "actual criminals", and so if Penny is found guilty, I guess he becomes one of these "actual criminals" so what would you want the punishment (or lack of) be?

    • @samkornrumph8545
      @samkornrumph8545 Рік тому +45

      @@adoredpariah Fair point. I was trying to emphasize that Neely was a career criminal that was also mentally unstable. The Legacy Media is not discussing that fact. That is why I posted it. Penny probably didn't know that Neely was a criminal. He and at least 2 other people saw a man threatening women and children and saying he wasn't afraid of the consequences. People with nothing to lose (especially ones who clearly are mentally deranged) are unpredictable. Penny and the others took what they believed was reasonable action to subdue a perceived threat. Many of the witnesses were thanking Penny for protecting them from a crazy homeless man.
      What method of restraint would you have used? I'm not an expert in hand to hand combat and I assume you aren't either. Real life is messy and just about any use of force has the potential to be deadly. There are so many things that can go wrong in situations like this that cannot be accounted for. I'm willing to give Penny the benefit of the doubt because of the fact that Neely had a long history of violence and was being belligerent.
      If can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Penny acted either reckless or maliciously then he should receive the proper punishment. He's being charged for manslaughter which at worst could mean he acted out of blind rage or he intended to cause serious injury Neely and ended up killing him by mistake. From what I can tell neither is the case, but we don't have all the facts yet. We'll see what happens in the trial.

I can't tell you how many intimidating loud dangerous people have en countered on the train. This guy is a hero. I don't care what the situation is for the person he restrained . When someone comes in in a threatening matter you don't have time to think you only have time to react. Most people don't help. Most people let violence occur and they don't come to your aid. As a born bred New Yorker, it is annoying that the mental health system has failed and because of that there are a lot of chronic mentally ill people in the city who many happen to be homeless. I have felt safe on the trains or in the street because of homeless mentally illness Individuals that they are often unkept, and sometimes have been harassing people for money. I have been verbally assaulted often, however that man did not have the right to take Mr. Nealy’s life and it was not his place to take care of the homelessness problem in this city.
