There's something to this song performed this way that shows his true emotional connection to the song. He's more connected to his music than most people are to their own emotions. He's just so intact, and you can't not love the lyrics. They impact everyone on a certain level.
Andrew is a gift. That's all I can describe him as. There are many singers I adore and enjoy, but his songs are so filled with emotion and so genuine that I can hardly explain. He's just like his songs in person too. A great person.
Andy, I'm in my mid-twenties now and I simply still love you. Thank you so much for giving us your music, because you're giving us much more than that.
I grew up thinking that everyone saw h's as orange or f's a green, but after a long while I found that I was actually different. I embrace my condition and, even though I find it hard to explain, people learn to deal with it. Artists like this and their songs really help get the word out about our condition and communicate to the world that we're not freaks and go through the same trials as normal people, just with a few connected senses.
+Kyzq same. i grew up thinking that everyone perceived names as colours. my friend ryan has always been red, jess pale yellow and kian olive green. ive only just told ryan about it but he now thinks im a freak. some people just dont understand.
"i guess I never made a gold record and I've never been to mars" can someone help this man out with getting a gold record... or at least get him to Mars. He kinda deserves that at least.
I have synesthesia and for me the colors that are really the most dominant are For the piano: blue(the color of the instrument), green and yellow The voice: green(the color of his voice), orange, bright teal Its really beautiful and even more with it. Hiw do you guys see it though please tell me its so interesting to know how others make connections
if anyone is still viewing this comment section and hasn't yet check out Dear Jack it chronicles Andrew's fight with leukemia and I gained so much more respect for him even though I didn't think that was possible!
I first saw Andy play in front of a thinned out Sunday crowd at Voodoo Fest 2006 with Jack's. It was the first major show post-Katrina in New Orleans as far as I know. By Sunday most people had left to head home to their various cities, yet Andy rocked that damn show for probably less than 1000 folks like he was playing a sold-out Staples Center. Ever since he got up and stomped on his keys to close that set out I've been a fan for life and it's awesome to see his growth. And like someone said before, where's his damn Grammy?
He's my favorite live show! My first ever show was last year at the state theater in Portland Maine and ever since I've been in love with his music! If you haven't yet go on Netflix and check out Dear Jack it chronicles his fight with leukemia and I gained so much more respect for him even though I didn't think that was possible! Great documentary and it's narrated by Tommy Lee which is awesome too!
I'm not alone! An uncle from North Carolina had this amazing voice, his accent, it was like a mound of melting vanilla ice cream with caramel rivers, and soft gold lighting....ahhh. I could have listen to him talk for hours. a little girl came into work one day, and she said A is red and D has zebra stripes...i kinda freaked our, i was so excited! her mom said "it's just a phrase," no ma'am she'll always be like this but it's wonderful :)
William C I'm 60 and I Love Him,Jackson Browne has some competition.Never thought anyone could write as Good of Lyrics. And that Piano and Voice,Truly Magnetic!!!!

God, his voice is seriously on point in this performance

He's a lyrical genius. Such an inspiration.
Raffi Yes he Is.
This song has such lovely shades of yellow and orange, it's great to finally have a song about my condition :)
IKR! A song is great, there's a couple books! I am so happy about the song.
What color is his song Dark Blue? Is it Dark Blue or something else?
more purple actually
Daniella thank you for letting us know! Ill remember this when I listen to these songs. :)
This song doesn't do it for me, but Canyon Moon and Fire Escape do! All kinds of shapes and colors.
Oh my goodness.... the absolute raw talent of this man 👏
By far one of the most underrated musicians ever.
I just love seeing his big goofy smile at the beginning of the video 0:06 and how it just sits there for a moment. It makes me happy :)
Horsegirl505 dawww
As a person who has synesthesia, it was so cool to hear this song an be able to empathize with the chorus.
Definitely. I wouldn’t describe it that way, personally. I’d say something like, “that sounds orange”. But, yeah.
He is amazingly excellent. the voice, the instruments , the lyrics... everything. beautiful!
Andrew Mcmahon always right a meaningful & inspiring music. It's become more beautiful in full instrument.
I don't know even know how this guy's art attracts me the instant I listen to him, he is amazing.
This version of synesthesia brought me to tears, so powerful and intense. Loving it !
This is one of the most beautiful vocal performances I've ever heard him give. Absolutely stunning.
This song gives me chillsss....can’t believe I missed this !!! Gosh I needed to hear this, thank you Andrew 💫💫💫
He's always been so creative.
I really like what he does.

I've fallen in love with him and his music. It's fantastic!
Now that is music with passion, this guy deserves a grammy
"i guess I never made a gold record and I've never been to mars"
can someone help this man out with getting a gold record... or at least get him to Mars. He kinda deserves that at least.
The beginning of this song is a flashback to "Leaving through the window."
Evan Bourassa Yes he does. But I think he's happy where he's at. Just Love Him!
Evan Bourassa Not kinda. Have you seen some of the singers that get those?? Horrible, Shut Music.
I think he already went to mars because on his new album hes wearing a space helmet
Not too long after, Dark Blue finally went gold :)
This Guy has a Beautiful Voice. He Rocks the Piano his story would amaze any one
One of the best song writers i have heard :) all the way through Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin to his solo career
Oh wow, this is a much more powerful performance than the album version. Really fantastic song
I agree. I enjoy this version much more than that on the EP.
Learned about the condition in psychology. It's like a super power!
so talented.
just beautiful. How this guy isn't bigger than he is amazing to me.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I can't get enough of this man's music.
WHOA. That was on another level.
How can music even be this incredible???
This song and his voice are amazing. I wanna get this on a cd
so incredible i can't even
Love his music so much
Took me a while to come back to this song, but it's absolutely glorious. Nicely done Andrew. I understood the meaning post 3 Pianos Tour. Thank you.
I love this so much more than the original. I wish I could buy it.
@lo.fi.emotions. they meant the official studio version, instead of this
Wow this guy has not stopped since day one where the @$%£ is his Grammy ..
no shit right. I always get angry when I think about how ignored he is by the industry
I'd like an answer to that myself. He is so talented. Hopefully one Day cuz he is Great.
I don't want to bash on the industry but be glad it's the way it is. Look at Gavin DeGraw. He unfortunatly only released crap in the last 5 years.
I know right
Outstanding keyboards and voice! Just plain GOOD!
andrew is amazzing.. he truly is so talented....
Love him. He’s so talented.
So good to see that even though the album has a lot more of an electric feel to it, Andrew's still AMAZING with just a piano and his voice :D
Man the chorus is powerful
I have synesthesia and for me the colors that are really the most dominant are

Teal I see, the music is purple, his voice is silver in the chorus, dark green for most of the verses.. almost teal, more.. evergreen to me?
amazing! loving this acoustic version!

I saw Jack's Mannequin back in 2009 when they toured with The Fray and it was a great show
Love it
He's Amazing
The normal version is great, but this version is just a whole 'nother level.
August 2023 still a fucking banger
Incredible

William C I'm 60 and I Love Him,Jackson Browne has some competition.Never thought anyone could write as Good of Lyrics. And that Piano and Voice,Truly Magnetic!!!!
And now you’re 34 😮
He is so dreamy.
Thought this was going to be a cover of Peter Himmelman's song of the same name. But this one is pretty cool, too.
Same here!
speechless
This song is royal blue and indigo but his singing is more light orangey
No it is different shades of purple
CSGO Redline Ok
Is dark blue dark blue? Or a different color lol
Boom!
I live with synesthesia, and I like this song. This is more than random. :D

Where can I get the piano sheet music??
not that hard to transcribe if you watch his hands
😍😍😍😍😍😍
I feel that it's light and maybe a little dark blue in it.Maybe some purple.
I'd love to know what colors people with synesthesia see when they hear this song.
Cool
Monstro
8 people are ridiculous.

Me: "Damn I wish I was talented at something"
I've asked so many people if they know who he is but I guess their a little ignorant. I guess we all just have really good taste.
make it 7
This version is better than the original.
Great song, but I kept waiting for him to stand on the piano. I was disappointed.
Dang, he really should have done this in the style of “everything in transit”, too heavy on the pop on the newer stuff
Synesthesia? LSD!
I actually know someone with synesthesia... Anyways, beautiful song.
If the #'s are growing it's further proof the world is getting dumber
He cant sing
