    Got a Filipino friend who lives in my block. I have to tell her to watch this episode. A lot of Filipino women seem to be in the medical field here in NY. BTW the story about early in your career where the Filipino man didn't appreciate the Flip joke - I read about that in a old interview you did. The article said besides Hawaiian/Filipino that you were also German/French. Great video. The accent was funny. Enjoy your work!

    Thanks again for a great show. Regarding the invention of the Yo-Yo ..I'd read somewhere that back in the Spanish colonial days, Filipino rebels created a yo-yo-like weapon that consisted of a big wooden wheel with a length of rope. They would hide in the trees and drop these heavy wheels onto the unsuspecting conquistadores, then reel them back up for the next victim. Apparently after awhile, someone thought of making a scaled-down version as a toy for kids, etc., etc..
    This was years ago when I heard this, and never got any real confirmation on its authenticity, but it still made a good story. It would be interesting, regardless, to find out how the Duncan company came into the picture and basically "invented" the yo-yo as far as the modern world is concerned. I mean, how did the name "yo-yo" come about anyway?

    Just a suggestion for you, why don't you talk about the idea of calling your elders auntie and uncle. I get many people who hear someone call you dat and they become all confused haha! Love your show, keep it up! Shoots brah

    • @Rattielicious
      @Rattielicious 8 років тому +1

      Christian, seems that calling elders auntie/uncle especially close friends of family and parents friends is very common custom around the world. Aboriginal tend to call any elder auntie/uncle but other Australian (especially of certain generation) will use the title auntie/uncle as sign of respect to family friends/parental friends and not really to ALL elder...I guess its actually the same usage actually (on 2nd thought) as those are the elders of that 'clan' /group/family and the possible reason its not applied to every elder is because of the huge 'multicultural' situation of Australia (multicultural- aka, not perceived as of same clan/tribe/family/group) if this makes sense.
      I assume Hawaii usage of auntie/uncle for elders is for same reasons, a sign of respect. Also a sign of recognizing the elders as family/clan.
      Good suggestion to talk about this! :)
