Omg I would never leave a rent controlled apartment. You and your partner can make a goal to just automatically save the difference between your current rent & what you’d be paying if you moved. The buying market is bad right now but there’s still so many benefits of saving!
You should consider making some covers for your sofa! They are a fantastic way to experiment with funky prints and colors without the big expense of buying a whole new piece, and if they are well made they feel surprisingly nice
Me toooo! Omg, I spend hours rearranging my place, or drawing out future plans 😅 Constantly swapping out decor or furniture from the thift store or fb marketplace lol
New yorker with no closet here! I recommend you and your boyfriend both vacuum sealing and storing your out of season clothes. It will free up a lot of space.
I second this. I store out of season clothes in bins under my bed, and my wool sweaters in a cedar chest. It makes it kind of fun when you can switch over your wardrobe and you remember all the fun stuff you put away the previous season.
Re the coffee table, you said that looking through your Pinterest board you could see that you're attracted to warm wood tones, so I would keep as is rather than repainting. I personally think the wood is more classic and that repainting it black is more likely to look dated in a couple of years or so. I don't think the coffee table and TV credenza look too matchy - the glass table top balances it out nicely. Also the paper quilt picture above your bed is beautiful. I think a colourful throw, and new curtains (also with some colour) would go a long way (and be more affordable) to warming up the space and making you enjoy it more. Also: plug-in wall scones instead of lamps? Cheaper and they give you so much more space and uncluttered feel on the beside tables.
instead of doing a whole new duvet, you can also consider getting a fun/colorful/patterned coverlet, large throw blanket, or quilt. Less of an investment and you can change the look and feel more often :)
I could definitely see some kind of vinyl console / speaker situation where the bar cart currently is! Or a long medium/dark wood entry table would be great there too - you could style it with books, candles, photos, catchall dish etc!
Do you have any plans of changing the rug in your living room? Maybe an earthy red color like in your inspo picks. It'll go well with the glass coffee table and white couch. Just a thought, I'm no interior designer though
@@lindseyrem yes! If you're done decorating your living and still feel like something is missing, swapping out the rug for a warm toned rug would make it cozier and also brighten up the space. The current one reads a bit cool toned and kinda blends in with your furniture.
what a great start!! love these ideas! in your living room, you can incorporate color and/or pattern through your rug/drapes/throw blankets too (and artwork of course). i hesitate on painting the noguchi table until you figure out what other pieces you will implement (especially if it's solid wood). can't wait to see this come to life! i always say your living space is an extension and expression of you, so have fun (like fashion)!!
Lindsey….I just have to say, none of your apartments have looked like a ‘first apartment after college’ 😭 Most of us spend our twenties living in absolute hovels!
Moving into my first unfurnished apartment soon, and have been feeling overwhelmed at everything I’ll need, so this came at a perfect time. Love seeing your style!
Excited to see what happens! Honestly for the bedroom lamps just switching out the lampshade shape/size (& maybe even getting a fun pattern) would make a huge difference, but I’d understand just wanting to get a different pair
As someone who works for one of the major high end furniture companies in the UK the best-known industry secret is online auction houses that will stock discontinued items for a major markdown. I don't quite know who the major players in the US are but its definitely worth taking a look, only thing is the items won't have a warranty and are normally no return, but definitely worth looking into especially with lamps. Also for the fabric on the sofa/ bed maybe get some quotes from upholsterers as this can add a bit of extra life for to the items - again check if this would affect any frame warranties before moving forward x
This is exactly what I needed because I am feeling the same way but have no where to start! I love this breakdown. I am deff starting this weekend and can't wait for this series.
What I love for bookshelf styling is hanging up framed art on one of the shelfs (meaning it hangs in front of the shelves overlapping two or more levels of the bookshelf). I see a lot of English interior designers doing that and it is so low effort but impactful.
5:35 maybe you can do one of those pottery classes and use the pieces you make to decorate! that way you can chose a fun funky color if you want and still feel attached to the items
Exciting! I feel like the coffee table adds warmth with the natural wood base which wouldn’t necessarily happen if you paint it black so i would keep it as it is and feel like it would look nice with the colored pillows!
An idea for giving the couch an upgrade would be reupholstering. In Brazil it’s pretty common, furniture cleaning companies usually offer these services. It might be worth taking a look at it
Just found your channel and subscribed! I also watch Paige and am going through a lot of home redecorating myself. Look forward to seeing more updates!
I’m obsessed with your coffee table and would love to get the same one but I also live with my bf and he’s unfortunately not a fan of the style soo I live vicariously through you in that way 😂 I know you’re thinking about painting it black but I just want to say I currently have a black coffee table (which I hate) because you can spot dust on it sooo fast since it’s so dark so def keep that in mind! I also have a cat and dog and my dog sometimes drops her toys on the table and it just gets a bit of dog slobber on it too sometimes so I just always have to dust/clean it every day because it shows every particle lmao
I'm not super into the idea of the coffee table base in black, but maybe you could paint it red? As much as I adore wearing black, I feel like it's trickier in a space. I also think a lot of your red photos had like one very statement piece of red so if you're not going to be buying a red sofa, a red coffee table could be fun. I think especially because the top is glass it wouldn't be like too much. Also for lamps, highly highly recommend buying lamps on Etsy or FB marketplace!
6:34 it could just be a console. I love Paige too but I think how people actually use their space and designing around that is the the conversation that’s missing from most interior content creators’ output
I found a black noguchi replica coffee table on marketplace and I ended up sanding it down to reveal the natural wood grain/color (I was inspired by yours). so hearing you say that you want to paint yours black now is funny 🤪
This is so off topic but I would love a hair tutorial! I have a very similar hair texture and yours looks so good!! How do you do your bangs with your waves? Loved this video as an interior designer! ❤
totally unrelated but you look a lot like the german youtubers / influencer Fata Hasanovic or Maren Wolf (they both also look alike hehe). even if you have a different aesthetic as them I think 🥰
im so excited for this series!! i was surprised for a second that we have the same furniture style but i remembered i shouldnt be (its why i follow you) 🫢 i cant wait to see all the ideas materialize in your space
You’re giving me 2016 UA-cam in a 2024 world. Thank you for the laid back soothing big sister content🥹
Omg I would never leave a rent controlled apartment.

Yes that’s our plan! ☺️

fantasizing about home decor and future plans is my favorite pastime

I'm so happy you're doing this series! So much more fun working with an existing space instead, also more sustainable !

Thank you for all the input!! Totally agree about not painting the coffee table
if you like paige wassel, you'll also like caroline winkler!! she has some amazing home decor tips and has a similar style to paige!
Yesss love them both SO much!
Yes!! Just came here to say it, Caroline is the best 😍
Caroline is great fun to watch w good tips. Paige seems lazy and mean.
@@miriamalonso3959 It's great to have opinions but perhaps it might be better to keep such negative ones to yourself next time :)
ooo thanks! i love paige so i'll have to check out carolines page!! :)
I have loved these videos that are old UA-cam trends!! Please give us more

I love the inspo!! I’m also trying to refresh and elevate my place without going through a total makeover or moving out, so excited for the next one!
Yay!! I’m so glad

I feel like you’d love the duvets from piglet in bed - they’re sooo cute and very fun for pops of color and texture 💕
So so cute! Have you tried?
@@lindseyremnot yet but I really want to! have heard the quality is great too!
I have their cotton set and omgggg sheets and duvet are DIVINE
@@lindseyrem I have the cotton duvet cover/sham set from piglet in bed in iris floral, it's very cute and feels nice quality!
For the bedside table lamps: get different shades. So keep the white bubble shaped foot but swap the white shade for something burnt orange linnen
I think if painting the table is what is going to extend the life of it in your home, do it!!! it'll look so cool
I love Paige. She is definitely inspiring!

loved this video! happy i found another person with a similar style, also a big fan of paige
this video was so relaxing, it reminded me of when I played Sims as a kid lol

okay crazy thought but maybe try painting the table base red! A nice pop of color and have pattern pillow cover
moving into my first post-grad studio - the timing is absoutely perfecttt
5:35 maybe you can do one of those pottery classes and use the pieces you make to decorate! that way you can chose a fun funky color if you want and still feel attached to the items
You should just dye the oatmeal colored duvet you already have! Cheaper, less waste, and won't have to store another one :)
Exciting! I feel like the coffee table adds warmth with the natural wood base which wouldn’t necessarily happen if you paint it black so i would keep it as it is and feel like it would look nice with the colored pillows!
i got a gingham linen duvet from quince and love it!! a little cheaper than some of the other options out there

You should check out everlasting bedding for the duvet cover! They also have flippable ones :)
if your couch has removable couch covers, dye the covers! rit synthetic dye can be a game changer
You could definitely get a couch cover to change/customize it a little more, without buying a whole new one!
i have the same coffee table! i love it sm
Your thumbnail had me thinking I was clicking into a Paige video 😂 I didn’t realize it was someone else
Omg I love Paige Wassel and I love you I’m so happy for the overlap LOL y’all are my two favorite UA-camrs
Ok hear me out! What if you spray paint the bases of the PB teen lamps a cool pop of color and potentially add new shades?

paige wassel mentioned ‼️
2 things You should paint the edges of your shelving with a top of color and reupholster the bed. All you need is fabric and a staple dime.
please re-upload your 2014 & 2015 vlogmas it was my comfort! I can forgive removing your summer morning routine but vlogmas was a classic
i loved this! subscribed
Are these Warby Parker glasses? Which frame style if so? Sooo cute on you, it’s giving inspo
Subscribing to follow this series! Loved the video
i laughed when i saw the thumbnail. I have so many of the same images pinned for my future space. until then i will vicariously live through u 🔮

I posted one on shorts/tiktok! I usually blow dry just my bangs to keep them straight
You could get a red velvet couch cover
You could buy some couch cushion covers in a fun color! It might be a fun way to experiment and not have to invest in a whole new couch :)
You could stain the table tht way it's not paint.. I'm just biased against painting wood
I love the “modern edge” I feel like I love antique/Parisiene and then it gets too Grandma-y
Wonderful share, liked it very much, thank you for the great content 👍
Olive linework art… where from?!?
Where did you get the orange mug from?
Hotel ceramics!
i honestly think you should keep your lamps but switch out the shades!
the mug. where's the mug from??!! D:
This couldn’t have come in the best time! My partner and I just moved into our new place and I’ve been looking for inspiration! 🤍
I need help with my apartmentlol lime what furnitureis needed and what's just clutter
Like The Rolling Stones said … Paint it black !
No kidding, if you move can I take over your lease?
why does this feel like a Google Meet with the background blurred LOL
totally unrelated but you look a lot like the german youtubers / influencer Fata Hasanovic or Maren Wolf (they both also look alike hehe). even if you have a different aesthetic as them I think 🥰
I like my lamp but I think I want a different shade; even shades are $30-$40!
dont paint the base of the coffee table, i think it looks so much more refined in wood
Thought you were actually going to update your space.
This is part one 🙂
You just talked tooooo much! Instead of showing new decoration!
Yeah this is part 1 of series
