lovely video thank you, i used to fish this lake 40 years ago when it was owned by Tommy Squires, i caught my first carp here about 12lb. back then the lake held millions of tiny rudd roach and skimmers and those were our main targets, also some very old carp most of which had never been caught, massive eels and some huge tench. tommy always used to tell a tale of a british record tench he'd caught years earlier in the lake (12 or 14lb i think),he hadn't realized it was a record till afterwards ,we had no reason to doubt it, tommy was a really nice guy . back then the lake consisted of a channel around the outside about 2 or 3 feet deep, with a couple of large shallow lakes in the middle and tommys pond to the right of the entrance. we weren't allowed to fish tommys pond as he fed his ducks there , and there was no access to the middle areas, the lake was closed to fishing throughout the duck shooting season, which was tommys true passion. it was a beautiful lake then as it is today.
Those fish were stunning. That venure is near me so hopefully willl take a trip down soon to check it out. You have a really good bond with your best mate there Simon.
Simon, it is always great pleasure watching the videos of you, the lake looks amazing, the little dog is very well behaved, I watch all your videos, good man yourself. Ernie.
As a fly fisher, I think coarse fisherman are great custodians of their quarry, they really care for there future and have safeguarded their environment, as appose to the continent were I am told there are many great lakes with nothing in them, totally fished out. Fly fisherman were rather late to do the same, but over about the last 20 years or have finally done so, well done lads.
Love this venue. Having fished there for a number of years the 2 top targets for me were the Long Common and Patch. Glad to say I was there a few weeks before this video and landed Patch, from next door to where Simon was fishing. Fingers crossed for the Long next year

Simon, thanks for sharing this wonderful venue. May I ask, do you still cast about for clear spots, or are you using a boat and dropping it down on clear spots please?
Stunning venue and as always, a pleasure to spend some time watching Mr Crow! More please!
More to come!

Leading around for clear spots. with the weed being so high the clear areas on the surface are a good indicator of where to start leading around.
My staffy makes exactly the same sound when you rub his ears😂😂😂
Wish I new you was down there woulda loved to meet
