Main issue: aerials don’t interact with the ground. It’s kinda interesting, don’t get me wrong, but as an actual game mechanic, you gotta have moves cancel into a recovery animations upon hitting the ground if done too early. I think certain aerials like multi hits can be an exception if you really wanna keep the OG style. But that’s the main thing that makes the game feel bad imo
I think some visual effects/flair could go a long way for them for sure. The animations are good to decent a lot of the time but theres a lot of things holding them back from feeling impactful.
On the gameplay aspect for 1v1s, I totally agree, dodging was too much. It has been said that at the newest gameplay footage, you have 6 consecutive dodges or so, if it keeps like that at launch, I would be glad to have less dodges in general
That's not true batman or bruiser class character have 6 dodges and other classes have I think 4 somewhere someone showed off that there wasn't the same amount so I think it will be on an individual character basis or just class wise idk tho
The core problem with Multiversus is not fixed. The lack of defensive options makes the game impossible to balance in a fun way. Think about it. All they have is running and dodging. So they have to make everything super floaty and safe or else people would just dodge and punish everything. The normal defensive to offensive trading that happens in fighting games is represented by, (attack run attack) or (attack dodge attack) or (attack attack-with-armor) in Multiversus. They need a parry and or a shield or something. Then they can nerf dodging and all that weird air sliding because people will have more defensive options to fall back on. If they nerf dodging too much without adding any new defensive options, then only characters with good hitbox and fast spammy attack will win. If they try to nerf the slidy air combat, then dodging/running will become even more powerful. This weirdly slidy dodgy defenseless combat is hard to follow and frustrating to play. I played the game for over 400 hours and I spent a lot of time thinking about what the games problem is. And I think almost all problems with Multiversus gameplay come from the root problem of no real defensive options outside of dodge.
9:20 I'd argue you're saying "doesn't feel like Smash". I liked that mechanic, because you could use your aerial momentum to slide the aerial attack along the stage. Platform fighters are supposed to differ, not just copy Smash
At this timestamp I'm talking about how the game mechanics makes stuff look weightless and floaty. And at this timestamp I'm not necessarily arguing against the mechanics of the game, I'm just talking about the consquences they have. I say later that I still had fun with the game in beta despite the flaws so idk what your point even is here. I'D argue that you actually have no damn point cause you have to put words in my mouth to create an imaginary arguement lol.
i honestly thought i was watching the video in slow mo :x also, the hitboxes still look just as bad as before :/ i gotta disagree with you saying nick all star brawls animations and weight of impacts feel better. To me, it looks and feels so much worse in nick all star brawl 1&2 i also cannot agree with making dodges useless
This isn't your ordinary fighting game. If you are a fan of Super Mario, smash brothers, then you will understhat's the same kind of mechanics. And fighting style and movement that they have cause Mario. Smash brothers will always be a classic legendary game. So if anybody is CNS or recognizing why this is so different from the other games. That's because it's the same thing. As just different characters and it's more of a improvembut. I get it and I understand whatever body else is saying. Cause you're gonna have your likes and your dislikes. But at the end of the day. A game is a game especially when it's new and it's coming out. You just got take the bat with the good and if you are a true fan you're gonna like it and if you don't you don't, but I think the game most definitely has Protential.
You're really good at not listening. A fighting game should have a healthy amount of offensive and defensive options for you to use. The dodge was the ONLY defensive option you had in 1v1s beside just moving around and since it was strong, it was overcentralized. At least in my opinion, you can disagree with it without treating me like an idiot. I'm very happy with parries being added, it should aleviate a lot of problems even if they don't change the dodge mechanics significantly.
@@Cowabunger Not all games have multiple defensive options. Traditional fighting games have block, movement, and occasionally parry. Multiversus has movement and dodge. Close enough 🤷 I thought the whole point was to speed up gameplay and make it more exciting compared to a shielding slugfest like Smash can be.
I still thought the dodge was overtuned and it made 1v1s not as fun as they could be. We can agree to disagree if you feel differently. Its guaranteed to be better at full launch cause of parrying.
@@Cowabunger I mean he responded to your video and then made the statement I'm done with the genre. I am reading what is in front of me lol no assumptions His statement is all I have to go off.
Well if you really are genuinely curious, he was a sprite artist and co-director for another platform fighter, got burnt out, and is now learning to code to make his own games. He has recently discovered that he likes arcade games so he's gonna dive into that rabbit hole. So tdlr he's stepping back after being heavily involved in the genre.
I use to be a fan of 1 on 1 fighting games back in the day playing theses games today 2 on 2 or whatever is the future for games It keeps you more interestend the game and the characters. It makes you care about the characters. And and as a team I'm just working together period trying to rise to the top. I know that they're still trying to work on a lot of games that are like to display. Just my opinion. I think this is really great for the future. Games and games to come not every game. When it first comes out, it's gonna be great. Perfect. They have to fix the bugs and the glitches. So I get that and I understand that, but I'm pretty sure this game will be a success so I'm gonna say that, I like it if no one else does I think this game has a bright future ahead of it plus what game do you know and how long has it been since you combined? DC with Cartoon Network and whatever else this game has to be able to. Offer, it's perfect. It's great. You get everything all-in-one so I think it's great. So I give the game company big props for thinking of the idea to make this game. And may there be plenty more games like this to come 🫡🫡🫡👏👏👏🤝🤝
Bigger characters also speeds the game up because blast zones and characters are closer.
I still have hope, they can fix these things…
Hopefully.

Also they need to add more animations for the spike and just any attack to make them feel more satisfying or crunchy like in smash
I think some visual effects/flair could go a long way for them for sure. The animations are good to decent a lot of the time but theres a lot of things holding them back from feeling impactful.
Exactly, it needs to feel more rewarding in some sense if that makes sense at all
The footage to me just looks like you set it to giant mode in custom smash. Just like a separate party mode instead the main gameplay
That's because it's not the same size as the beta you are used to
you explained the flaws of the physics and the animations perfectly i didnt know how to put it into words before

The game is fine. New footage shows fast gameplay and larries and hitstop. Game is looking goodm

Man just, knowing these devs worked so hard for months for the game to look bad znd get shelved 5 months later probably, it just makes me sad
I wouldn't say it'll get shelfed just yet but it'll probably not be as successful as Warner Bros want it to be
Multiversus slow? What? You could air dodge cancel and go like 100mph

NASB 1 def has worse animation, we can agree to disagree with NASB 2 tho. I never said to make dodges useless but go off on that one.
