La France, et plus largement l'Europe, doivent énormément au Moyen Âge. Cette musique ne figure pas dans la BO du film. J'ai posé la question à Michael Lonsdale à l'occasion d'une rencontre, il en était étonné. Il n'en sait pas plus. And here, the concept of diegetic and non-diegetic music are at stake. These two concepts exist in filmography. This piece, for example, is diegetic music. It was not meant to appear in the film just to create an atmosphere in the audience's mind. It's a part of the scene, of the context. The characters are singing. On the contrary, non-diegetic music is not part of the story that is taking place, though the audience hears it. The characters cannot not hear non-diegetic music. It's added afterwards, when the film is edited, and it's music created by the musicians the director hires to create atmospheres or emphasize character's emotions
