This show is my most favorite show on Netflix. I can really relate to Sam's story and I'm autistic my self and Im looking for a relationship as well. I think the story it's very clever that Keir's character uses a lot of metaphors with Penguins and Antarctica. I've got some other things to say about this show, I've auditioned for season 2 twice, and also this show included 8 actors on the autism spectrum in those peers group scenes, and a couple of them are my friends that I work with at spectrum laboratory, and I auditioned for one of the roles that the character Jasper said "well, if you wait long enough, I can do it, I want to be a dentist", and I give props to my friend Dominique who got that part. And by the way, I'm an actor and writer with autism that was inspired by atypical to write a love story of my own and making a movie out of it that will be done soon, and I will be playing the protagonist in my own story. So anyways, my dream is to be on atypical and it would be a dream come true if I ever got a part on the show. So that's it guys, have a nice day 😊☺️
One of my favorite season 2 moments was when Sam knocked on Elsa’s temporary living quarters door.. and she’s so surprised to see him.. and asks what can I do for you.. and then Sam says.. “I need to learn to tell lies, and your best liar I know.. you cheated on Dad and pretended like nothing was going on.. Says a lot right there!! So honest is Sams heart
My grandson loved this show and kept telling me to watch it. He had his own demons to face in fact he passed away in 2019 aged 18. I'm so glad I finally watched. It's wonderful
I really enjoy him as a actor he plays this role so well,he doesn’t exaggerate the part but he also does it justice to really understand and correctly portray a person on the spectrum:)
Please try to get Brigette Lundy-Paine (Casey) as well. Can't wait to hear her thoughts about here character going forward. Paige would be fine as well. She looks amazing and her performance is on point.

A topic that most of people avoid...not only the Autism of Sam, but the strugels of families...(I related to this show mostly for this...the struggles of every member of Sam´s family is something that nobody wants to recognize...And I specially love Caseys role...she s only 15/16 and she had to grow up so fast, and her strenght is amazing) Love her and her sarcasm!!! please let there be a 3rd season

I absolutely loved seeing him get so lit up and stoked about music! I'm passionate about extreme and heavy music as well, so going from watching a show I love, to looking into the actors, to finding out that not only was Keir in a Gatecreeper music video, but is IN multiple heavy bands-and good ones-was an amazing trip and makes me love him even more. Good to know that there's a popular, successful person that doesn't only know about, but is into a similar niche as myself. 🖤🖤🖤
Autism Spectrum Disorder and Aspergers is different. One difference is language development. Aspies usually have no problem with speech, but some with severe autism don't talk at all. Sam has Autism Spectrum Disorder rather than Aspergers. Asperger's is usually milder. Sam's ASD is more in the middle of the spectrum, which is why it's amazing Keir can play him so well.
@@scarycrazymann Besides that, I've been to Autism NZ and the person I was working with said that if Asperger's was still a diagnosis, I would have been diagnosed with that instead of high-functioning autism. Here's a few more differences - the symptoms are milder, almost all aspies have a high IQ (those with autism don't), and they're almost always misdiagnosed early on because despite their similarities to autism, their IQ and language divide them from others on the spectrum. There's probably some high-functioning autistics like Einstein with a high IQ but a delay in language skills. He didn't talk until he was three years old, but he was high-functioning. If he had started talking at 12 months, he would have been more likely to have Asperger's. Understand the difference now?
I really don't understand why this show is so underrated. Incredibly talented people, important topic, great job and many many other things. I watched this 5 times 😅 When I ask about it ppl they don't even know it 🙄
I have a huge crush on this man, I can't get over it sorry, he is too smart and so humble, and he's into such good things like get in the pit with teenagers, he's adorable
I am on the autism spectrum and in high school, so when I saw this I was blown away by this show. I deal with the same issues as the protagonist does so it's quite surreal 😂
I have Pdd-NOS a pervasive development disorder on the Autism spectrum and shows like ATYPICAL and the Good Doctor mean so much to me and to many others in the world, may God bless you all
I'm not a native English-speaker and I find it hard to understand films or talks, but surprisingly I feel that I have no problem with this one. I think listening to Keir's speeches is a good way to start understanding English for not advanced speakers.

I have Aspergers and all 3 of my teens do too. He plays Sam well. Of course every Aspie is different, he does a good job for the character.
