Ricky Skaggs is such a great Bluegrass legend. Him along with Kentucky Thunder sound absolutely fantastic. Even with the Boston Pops Orchestra this song is really great. Thanks for posting.

Just a few among hundreds out there. Spend some time listening to a dozen other top shelf-ers and you can then spread your "amazing" to the folks who equally deserve such gushing!

I'll skip over this re-make of Red-Haired Boy which leans too heavily on the latter tune and needs more imagination to take me somewhere. But Leftwich's work is a knockout and worth the time to listen. I wish someone would take some air out of his ego and convince him to find a really good lead singer that he can provide tenor for. His voice makes me feel nothing. Same for his picking. Nice notes but he doesn't take me anywhere inside and when he does it's not a place I've never been before. Music should "transport" the listener - same for all the arts.

    Brilliant, brilliant, Brilliant!
Leave it to a visionary like Ricky Skaggs who's fought like crazy his whole life to put bluegrass music on the map, to meld it with the Boston Pops - and still make you say: "Wow".
(And they may neither be God nor the Devil.. perhaps from another planet and a civiliztion light years ahead of our own.)
    Either way.. it's nice stuff.

the banjo came from the sitar, when the travelers left India they had no assess to gourds so they made banjos. gypsies came from India a long time ago, went to Ireland and then America, and we still make the best music.

I love the old songs of bluegrass because they come from Scotland and Ireland. My dad was from Eastern Ky. and taught me the history of bluegrass. It is not country music which I do not like.

Outlaw country is the only country worth checking out at all, more real than any other country, bluegrass tops it completely for me tho.

Bluegrass is the historic blend of Celtic music and African American instruments like the banjo. The legacy of slavery in America stinks, but without that legacy, our music would be much poorer.
Too bad that the banjo was despised by most blacks after it became associated with the minstrel shows, which basically mocked all black people.

You sound like a teenager that just discovered blue grass .. Bill Monroe is rolling over in his grave!!!!!
