These are all great ideas for people with money. I think the majority of people out there would love to see a list of more affordable options. My favorite right now is the Earthship home styles.
I think it is very much worth it. It has the potential to increase our quality of life and is aesthetically nice to look at. My favorites is probably the first one, #15.
Brilliant designs. Cutting edge technology that allows an a new level of independence that brings the owner closer to nature and further from the total dependence of the city. We've progressed if we can imagine new alternatives that make more sense and provide a better quality of life. No one is gonna encourage this move away from consumerism. But you can totally do it if you put your mind to it. There's literally no limit to what you can do. Such a breath of fresh air. They all felt welcoming and comfortable. Thank you for sharing them with us.
The Yin Yang one was very very cools as it is completely self sustainable with its self watering catching the rain water for the gardens is fantastic what a brilliant idea loved the last one also $55,000 the free form looking one as it blends I to the environment. Would be resistant against high winds ect.. ...
Some beautiful homes. Hopefully affordability will not be in the too distant future. I actually dont say that for me. But I do feel a few innercity projects that bring local and national attention while creating affordable living in low incomed areas would go huge distances in opening the door for massive future growth.
Very good selection of diverse styles. As most are one off designs they will be expensive. The Passiv Pod zero carbon design number 7 has strong timber ply for offsite modular replication in quantity. Their home garden office at £33K is less than a brick extension and students learn more in biophilic classrooms. Great choices all round.
All these houses are in the nature. So what do you do for cities ? Unless nature comes back in the cities , I don' t see . So first. The obligation to make Nature comes back in the cities. A great program !!!!
I retrofitted a 3500 Sq. Ft. home with Foam insulation, Geothermal heating and cooling, HRV, Stainless Steel roof, and an 18.6KW solar array, making this home a Net Zero Energy Building.
Looove your channel and Reachers voice is sooooO soothing I can hardly bring myself to turn it off to take my little friend out for their well deserved walk 😂🐾 you could get work just reading stories and your humour cracks me up , have a great day, catch you soon from us on the other side of the pond in Cornwall, UK 🌴🌊♥️🌻🤗
you can cull ideas from these, like parking on the ground and building up, this keeps the needed space to the minimum. I no longer look for an overall design i like, i just filter for the best elements and keep notes about saving time, space and $$.
I have found the Houses and structures made from Hemp-crete have been by far the most appealing to one who hates square walls and sharp corners. The Earthships , and some of them are very "Updated" modernistic interiors and Zero costs . Once built , they serve the occupants very well, winter and summer. The most stylish one is in Ontario , while the more rugged one is in Alberta. There are also some here in BC.
PhoebeFay RuthLouise Living/green roofing is also the known fix for the Urban Heat Island Effect (the real reason for most of the “heat spikes” in Europe and North America which the fascists try and pass off as “Global Warming”).
Good afternoon, we are building a house in the Philippines starting in July, we have well water, will have solar, the house will be 95% from the land. Bamboo and wood, 6 bedrooms, 3 floors 400 sq mtr each floor. We had to have a concrete base for planning to be approved. have a moat for fish, grow our own vegetables etc. All bedding etc will be bamboo, sinks from wood, no plastic anywhere.
The ideal characteristics of sustainable housing is to use materials available naturally in that part of the world. This should minimize costs for a self build. Aircrete seems to have highest potential for self build with options for modular design.
There are some intriguing ideas here. I especially like homes which use outlandish designs to take advantage of natural forces and thusly increase their efficiency.
What I see here with a number of these projects are architects; who are not engineers, designing projects that can be dubious at best, in not only being up to building code standards; but designed in such a way as to minimize maintenance labor along w/ longevity; in regards to the design/ construction material/ environmental coefficients....In other words the concepts are nice; until you have to deal with the possible negative aspects related to some of these structures...I think my favorite here is the French made pre-fab modular w/ roof & structural walls built out of cardboard corrugated materials to provide structural form and rigidity, then sealed from the detrimental effects of the environment with a synthetic glue, with a thin plywood veneer on the interior and then the exterior built out of what appear to be 2.5" x 1/4" finished wood slats...so after a few years, you get seam expansion in the wood slats from humidity/ rain water, whatever, it leaks into the corrugated card board and well...If you're not a complete idiot; I would assume you could figure out the mess on your hands as a homeowner... Can ya dig it?
Face it - spending the money on a home ( interest and payment ) may as well be art and function . If it serves you also ( like lowest utility bills as well as the environment ) it should pay for itself... eventually. I like that idea. I’ve lived in an Rv (344 sq. Ft) and living inside as well as outside your home is the adventure. Your going to live in it a long time: low impact on the environment and enjoyment are the way to go 😎 (with views and insulation). I like the use of area under some of these here. Since garages or shade areas for outdoor use is nice to have on a small footprint.
Great video. Love the way you pack in the key information in a tight timeframe for each segment. I live in Western Australia so was interested in those housing units in Broome.
I like the houses I think they are neat I don't think I could forward them but what I really like is that pretty girl talk to us the end but you are job keep up the good work and let us see more of that pretty girl thank you and have a Merry Christmas bye bye
The best idea's for creating living spaces are coming from the mouth of Michael Reynolds. He created the concept of Earthships. We should work for generations to come with these things.
Sustainable except for price is why these designs won't be built in the numbers that might make a difference to the environment any time soon. Being green shouldn't mean being unaffordable and it's why those that want to have as little impact as possible often build there own since there's no real alternative. The home's heating/cooling/electrical needs CO2 footprint is massive and there's no market for a zero impact housing if the systems that make it that way cost as much or more than it's fossil fueled/non green counterparts.
you know brick is just cooked mud right ? concrete is just sand and water copper tubing is made from copper wich comes from the earth it self everything in your current house cant be more natural my man
A lot of great looking designs but very few are cost effective (when the price was quoted) or made for cold climate regions. The "cardboard" house was promising but cardboard eventually dries up if not specially treated and becomes a potential fire trap (waterproof corrugated cardboard perhaps?)
5 from the Netherlands and Germany? We call -10 to -20 in winter cold... And yet, the houses stay at an average of +21 C. Cardboard, MDF, plywood? Same, same. Mud is cost-effective if you can get enough hands at low-cost.
The thing with the vast majority of these houses is, they do not accomodate the kind of power use a normal household sees these days. Sure it can charge your laptop and phone and it'll support a wifi router and a A++++ label fridge, but most of these houses cannot and will not support a household where there is something like a 72" TV that needs powering or where a gaming PC needs powering most of the evenings. Want or need a workshop to do things for your off-grid homestead eco house thing? Yeah, that 1kW solar panel array isn't going to power the table saw. It won't even power the shopvac. Same with the induction hob in one of the houses shown. Sure the roof is a solarpanel, but that isn't working when I want a cuppa at 05:45 in december when I need to go to work.
WOW...!!! Some of these abodes are no less than impressive , i'm not greedy , i would like one of each thankyou. lol's. Watching this channel just makes me want every bloody thing they show. When " REACHER " says which one would you pick , leave your choice in the description below i think all jokes aside from my first paragraph , there are a couple i would choose but i have to say it wouldn't be as easy as just saying i'll have that one , & that one , but think of the pro's & con's of each choice. They say one of the biggest stresses , among others is buying a house. I concur. Some of the homes shown though were absolutely outstandingly gorgeous whether it be on the water , or be it on land. I'm quite sure there're are some of you out there in cyber-space that totally agree with that statement. Well i've said a little of what i wanted to say about this subject so i'm going back to watch more of this channel so i can continue to dream. lol's..... ✅❤️🇦🇺👍
I wish you can tell us how much each of the houses are, I know you do with some of them, but I am interested in a ball park figure. It's too bad that they can't do eco friendly homes for one person, it might help with the homeless situation.
I want a sustainable, completely off the grid home. And I’m not rich so it’s got to b affordable for me. Some I’ve seen for $4k are just amazing. Plus I need to house 7 parrots in it (maybe more). So I’m constantly looking into these homes. Not sure yet if it will b placed in western US or Yucatán Mexico area. I’m wondering if Mexico may be an easier place to get one of those Amsterdam set ups since they won’t deliver to US. Anyone have any ideas??? Thx
You ahould look into global style earthship homes. I saw one that had a bunch of birds living in it, and long term I think it could be the most affordable of all the styles out there, and 100% sustainable and off-grid.
I don't think the first home that's made of cardboard would work out here very well in the United States with all the tornadoes (we endure in every state practically anymore), as you say it is only weighs 1100 lbs and it's not got a foundation?
Interesting and arty. Didn't really see any that were truly sustainable. The 2 German ones were the closest ( and the one where you bathe in the ocean). Where's the earth sheltered geothermal one's?
Those houses only work in the dessert and living there is nowhere near sustainable. Those earthships need a lot of glass, they need a ton of unnecessary work and they mould pretty quickly.
All the chosen houses were very interesting and responded to my interest and values! Very happy to find you and your video guys! Thank you very much for all those precious information together! the last one scares me a lot. think of the moisture th at forms over the concrete and wood roof over a couple of years. The design screams building code violation and unsafe due to collapsing debris.
How about an affordable home for the general public. I LIKE THE HOUSE WITH THE OUTDOOR WALL TERERESSES FOR GROWING SELF SUSTAINABLE FOOD
SÛPRÊMÂ & SÛPÊRÎÔRÊ

I LOVE THIS VIDEOOOO
I love Eco friendly homes and I plan to have one or more soon!!! Ase Ase Aseo
These are just beautiful! Hoping someday that most if not all houses in the future would all be as sustainable as these.
Brilliant designs. Cutting edge technology that allows an a new level of independence that brings the owner closer to nature and further from the total dependence of the city. THIS VIDEO HAS ALOT OF FOOD FOR THOUGHT. WORTH THE LOOK!!!
Very nice video....looking forward for these kind of videos which are related to environment and sustainability...
Like the video, but it would be nice to see something for those of more modest means. Most people I know couldn't afford these.
The Yin Yang one was very very cools as it is completely self sustainable with its self watering catching the rain water for the gardens is fantastic what a brilliant idea loved the last one also $55,000 the free form looking one as it blends I to the environment. I think 13 was my favorite
The last one is cool!!! Because it's artsy.
Like the ying and yang house.
I’ve never heard of a house described as metal on the sides, wood in the middle with a little glass thrown in. LOL! Thanks for that. 😎
N° 15 la mejor
สวยดีครับ ว่างๆแวะมาทานอาหารด้วยกันนะครับ

Yes, I do think sustainable design is worthwhile. I have developed such a design myself, which I hope to be able to build some day.
Thanks for the video Mr Garrison. 😉
Good ideas all. Will be great once prices lower
That's not going to happen. On top of that, land prices are going crazy as the population rises.
I like#14 , because, it's simple, with probable affordable price.
NUMBER 6 HAD MY UNDIVIDED ATTENTION. CLOSE TO PERFECT

Cob and or rock or straw-insulated can work in many places too.
Number 1 deserves to be #1... b/c it is "AFFORDABLE".
I like the idea of growing plants and house, like the #2 house
Amazing video guys!! I really love the yin yang house !!!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Welcome!
House goals
There should be addresses company names and contact information if these homes are for sale
This channel is about designs out there. They are not selling houses.
good video

Some very cool ideas but so many are very expensive and have stairs.

I think we should all go for theese homes
loved the clockwork orange house! with all that in and out bits!
Interested in #1. The look, effeciencymand the price, where can I get it?
💕💕 so many of them!
Fantastic Homes, I love them!
The best idea's for creating living spaces are coming from the mouth of Michael Reynolds. He created the concept of Earthships. We should work for generations to come with these things.
It can spray line-X to permanent anti-corrosion
Yin and yang house for sure. Love the garden.
most interesting @ 14:40.........you! ha ha ha great vids !
would love to own one of these
Would be better if they all were made from less damaging materials. Concrete and steel are very harsh to create.
And they are expensive made out of hard materials. The #1 is cheaper, made with natural wood and looks amazing.
It can spray line-X to guarantee 100 years anti-corrosion

#3 - the mud house. Would’ve loved to see more of it. Hard to get more “natural “ than that,
you know brick is just cooked mud right ?
concrete is just sand and water
copper tubing is made from copper wich comes from the earth it self
everything in your current house cant be more natural my man
Can you make a video based on tiny homes / sustainable living that are around $50,000 or less?
#5? How can we purchase this for our own home?
Awesome. Some are pricey. There are many homeless and low income. What about low cost designs for that purpose?
A lot of great looking designs but very few are cost effective (when the price was quoted) or made for cold climate regions. The "cardboard" house was promising but cardboard eventually dries up if not specially treated and becomes a potential fire trap (waterproof corrugated cardboard perhaps?)

Yin and Yang House
the 3rd house shown looks like a modern office building.
15, 3 and 2 are my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
I have to ask . How can something be sustainable if it's unaffordable ?
งามๆ
The most sustainable home is a high-rise apartment. If everyone built a house, we'd all be out of materials and space very quickly.
I really enjoy these videos. The ideas are outstanding! I see myself in #8 Axiom House. These prices are another factor that is attractive. Thanx
