I fly in and out of California on a regular monthly/ weekly basis. I always carry my piece with me. That being said- make sure you take the magazine out of your pistol, and if the mags are loaded, preferably have them orientated inside where they can not be "bumped" by any means.
Any lock is fine as long as it doesn’t have a red diamond with a white spot in it. If it does have that, it means the lock also takes a TSA master key meaning it is illegal to use to secure your firearm. And plus, it’s a security hazard since anyone can buy a TSA master key from eBay. Still doesn’t stop a person who knows how to pick or more likely, is using a wave rake. Tip, get a good lock. Poor ones can get raked easily or even straight up bypassed.
Can’t tell you with 100% certainty but the chance of you thinking of it while watching a 2 min UA-cam video, while nobody in the vast system of government has since electronic record keeping has been in place has, is probably slim. They likely have everything you have ever done on electronic record somewhere.
If they document peoples private parts they are definitely documenting people who check their guns. It'd be nice if we could do this and bring our guns and carry them in any country we want. The only thing I would add is to check state regulations to where you’re flying to. Call the local police department and see if there are any new laws or prohibitions regarding your CCL.

According to federal guidelines, you are actually NOT supposed to use TSA locks on your firearm case. Only you should be able to access the case. If they need to open it, they will call you. CFR 1540.111

sadly the chubby broad is wrong. According to what TSA has written on their web site, you ABSOLUTELY CAN have a full magazine of bullets in the same case with your Unloaded firearm. Now I'll cut and paste from the TSA website. Today is 10-09-2022: "Ammunition Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm. Small arms ammunition, including ammunition not exceeding .75 caliber for a rifle or pistol and shotgun shells of any gauge, may be carried in the same hard-sided case as the firearm, as described in the packing guidelines above."
TSA workers don't memorize every single detail. It's good practice to store ammunition/weapon separately to avoid getting held up in an argument with someone that doesn't get paid enough to care. Always give people less reasons to bother you. Even if you're in the right. Your advice is bad.
The airline will make sure your firearm is taken to the belly of the plane and then stashed in the baggage cart and then taken home by a thrower.
