As talented and exciting as Neymar is as a player, I always get the impression that the lifestyle has gotten to him. He doesn’t seem to have the hunger anymore. People talk about how talented the likes of CR7 and Messi are but they seldom mention the self discipline, drive, hunger, sacrifice and determination that it takes to reach that level. I think that Neymar and Eden Hazard too could’ve hit similar if not the same level if they had the same work ethic but they didn’t and now that they’ve made their fortunes and have suffered a few injuries, their careers are at a crossroads.
exactly, Hazard/Neymar could have been ballon d'or contenders if they had the work ethic of CR7/Messi. I know Ney finished 3rd a few times but he could have done it on a more regular basis
Neymar has been the best dribbler since Ronaldinho but Brasilian players get lazy when they reach their 30s and he gets injured in the most important time of the season.

As a chelsea fan I'm torn, he's talented without doubt but he's way too injury prone and we already have lots of injury prone players, Kante (who's leaving), Pulisic, James, Chilwell, etc

Too much trouble. He’s injured a lot, doesn’t have much work ethic. It’s sad because he really could have been the best player ever if he actually worked hard. He had an opportunity 4-5 years ago, but threw it away. Now he is getting too old. His wages are also ridiculous given his previous performances. He has reached his potential already, he is finished.

I think he's one of the most overrated players in modern history. He plays about 20 games a season. For almost a million a week! Man is injury prone and more obsessed with his image than playing football.
I don’t really see him as being overrated. I think he represents unfulfilled potential. Had he really worked hard and been as focused and driven as the all time greats of the game, I genuinely believe that he would’ve hit Messi/CR7 levels. But ultimately, he became a star at a young age and I think he let it go to his head and lost some of that drive that you need to supplement the talent.
