A friend of mine had a 71 roadrunner back in the 80s. It had a 440/4 speed, torker 2 , Holley, mini tubbed. N/50 15 M/T tires, .509 cam. It was the fastest car in town ! Cheers Nick ! This brought back memories.

@@UKESRfertilizer You gotta have the harley davidson mind set. It's the idle, the lope of the engine and how it feels more than beating someone in a race just to push it too hard and always rebuilding and replacing. These old muscle cars have a spirit and feel to them that hard to describe.

the wonderful aroma of cooking Goodyears makes all that pain in the rear engineering nonsense disappear in an ear to ear smile after you mash it to the floor. I can smell that burnout all the way from here, lol! thanks again guys!
For a short time, I had a Dodge Coronet Custom which looked almost just like that Plymouth, and it only had a 318 in it, but life's misfortunes separated me from it. [sad eyes]
I have to admit Nick, that when you release a new video, it's a highlight moment of the day. It's like a serial which I'm hooked in. I'm writing this message even I haven't watched this yet. Just great stuff, I KNOW in advance.
Ahhh. Time Warp! I’m at the old mans shop, it’s 1972 and my sixth grade self is sweeping the showroom floor for lunch money after school. That big block mopar is doing another burnout at the light.....memories!!!
A bit confused, you loosen the 3 screws on the plastic choke cap and turn it to adjust the choke and the idle screw is on the other side by the linkage.I think Nick needs to switch to decaf.
Well, it’s always good to hear from fans. 👍 If you want that address, it’s on Nick’s Facebook page. The link is in our ‘about’ section. Thanks, Michael.
On Holley vacuum secondary carbs (and maybe double pumpers without 4 corner idle screws) there is a screw that you can only get to from beneath to crack open the secondaries to act like a vacuum leak that raises the idle for a cam that has a lot of overlap at idle so that you don't have to open the mains so far to get it to idle and have tipped the throttle and exposed the transition slot which then decreases the signal to the idle circuit. I believe that is what Nick was adjusting, not the fast idle screw.
Matthew Mann , I worked around cars for a long time, I knew exactly how Nick felt being frustrated with this carburetor issue and the shifter issue. Peace brother!
I hardly ever cursed. Then I started working on cars. Lol. Try as hard as I want, it's impossible if the car/engine is giving me some kind of difficulty or trouble. Lol.
I'm Okay with frustration until the person starts taking it out on me when i'm trying to help them! I'm done! They can fix it on there own! I have a friend that would do that when he couldn't figure something out. It aint my fault! If you cant fix it don't take on the job! I refuse to work with people that do this!
Seeing that camera footage on the burnout reminds me of a trick we used to use back then to get that old Hotchkiss rear suspension to handle like a ladder bar setup with a stiff sway bar on it. Bolt two overload spring stops to the front half of the leaf springs making them as stiff as ladder bars and turning the rear axle into the sway bar. Of course you can just use two half leafs and get some independent travel. Depends on how you want it to perform: heavy for drag only, lighter for street handling.
The first time Nick has shown any impatience or angst working on a car. Otherwise he is a pillar of patience. I start saying some of "those" words changing my oil. I certainly don't blame him after seeing what he was up against working on this Plymouth.

The fast idle speed screw is a bastard to get to on a Holley carb. However, I was able to get to it without taking the carburetor off the engine (1967 Chrysler New Yorker 440). This is how I did it: Remove the 3 screws that hold the electric choke to the carburetor body; pull it out of the way, then you have all the room you need to get to the screw. Usually a half turn up or down (depending on whether you want to raise or lower the fast idle RPM) using a small wrench does the trick.
Electrix Ladyland. This screw did not have a hex screw head on it. I wish it did. In some cases, you do WOT and make your adjustments, but in this case not possible. Thanks for the input.
Nick invited the Plymouth into the shop, and it just did not want to leave. You know you are at the right speed shop when they have a bleach box on the road out front.
I hung around a lot of car guys back in the early 80s. My neighbor always would trade around different muscle cars. He had some sweet cars. One was a 68 road runner standard with a 440. After about a week he traded off. We asked him why said he was afraid he was going kill himself. We all laughed about it about a few days later the dude he traded his GTO wrapped that Road Runner around a telephone pole. Lucky he wasn’t killed. Ah the power of the Mopar
Youre right.. there should have been a fender protector on the car.. and a bunch of new ones were ordered after so many of you guys pointed it out. But remember, Nick doesn't own belts with sharp buckles on them. Thanks for watching.

Yo Nick all you had to do to adjust the fast idle speed was open the throttle and then you can get a 1/4" wrench on the screw lol
tron696. Yes, I am aware of that, but not with this carb.
Hay Nick'sGarage I bet doing that burnout really set your mind at ease from having to fix that damn idle screw.
JNaasty. That fast idle screw has no hex head on it, and faces downward, impossible to adjust unless you remove carb. Nice car, had many little issues with the ignition also. Anyways, with all that done, and no fender covers, it all went well.
Id like to see Nick play around with a 265 hemi (aust 6 cyl) , hed be impressed .
Cool car and cool blue colour in the begining!
That's a sweet Roadrunner
I'll adjust your idle....then do two good burn outs to ensure its correct! Lol!!! Awesome Nick, you rock!
oh, man! Best CAR ON THE WORLD!
