i think the key to playing trunks is to recognize that his special attack is almost like a quick break in the action for you to buffer the flip or other specials. its not as apparent until the game starts slowing down for you.

what can you say about the game's neutral ? feel like superdash makes the most part of the neutral and also can you confirm if there is any good defense options in this game i.e. backdash invul. chickenguarding etc ? thanks in advance
Well the superdash works good well until you meet someone that knows who to handle it and there are many ways to handle it from high priority ki blast moves like the kamehameha to physical hits like gokus tastu and most notably down heavy which not only counters but also leads to a full combo. On the defensive you side reflect is something that can be really good if you learn it since it pushes the opponent back like a push block.
Standard anime backdashes, guaranteed better than anything you’ll find in a Street fighter game. Iframes vary. Chicken Guarding definitely works, but there’s little reason to do it on any character without a command grab because dragon rush is such a slow throw
Heinrich Dieter Super dash has a huge weakness. Every character can counter it with a crouching heavy. It will launch them, so you can follow up with combos.
From what it looks like after the burning attack at the end of your combos you could extend them further with vanish I could be wrong but the stun meter looks like it's easily permit it
George the Warlock That was meter spent on an EX Special for Trunks (his jump) I imagine because of the strict timing of the combo the EX works better because it's faster

look at your keypad on the computer. 5 is neutral (not pressing any direction) 2 is down, 8 is up, 6 is forward, 4 is back. and so on. H is just heavy, so O on ps4. Dunno what it is on xbox.
Haven't played an Arc's game since P4 Arena which I didn't learn a whole lot about back then but determined to have a solid team in this game. In your first combo, how are you connecting the j.L after doing the j.2H? Whenever I hit the air 2H its almost like i still have a launch available which puts the opponent higher whereas in your video you are immediately going into j.L. Please keep up the goodwork, it's stuff like this that fuels the community and it's better than not having anything at all!
How are you getting so much up lift on the Jumping Medium hit? I always drop the combo because I'm too low. However, when I see your videos you're always higher.
Nah. It's the height. If you can't get the flip you are either A too low to get the Jump Unique attack to hit or you are canceling a bit too slowly after J2H. The timing on most of these are pretty easy it's learning to gauge the height and adjust the combo appropriately that is difficult.
hey im having trouble making trunks keep rising after the qcb S. resulting in the enemy always being above me which does not allow me to get the Heavy spike attack at the top. whats the trick to keep the enemy below me?

Fantastic work! His slash cancel is pretty damn good, just like i had observed from a stream. Also, i don't know if you tried what i'm about to say, but i have this idea in my head that could potentially work.. So basically, after a mid-screen hard knockdown you usually can't land his lvl3 because the opponent is too far away. I think if you use another bar of meter for a teleport you could land it, because if the opponent is on the ground during a hard knockdown state the teleport kick will whiff, giving you the chance to land the lvl3. It's something i wanted to try, but i'll gladly give it to you (if you hadn't thought of it ofcourse)! And btw, i really hope we get to see the rest of the final combo. Can't live without knowing the rest of it lol

I feel like they might have dumbed it down in exchange for the general damage increase. On another note, I understand how you feel about the tech buffer limit. I find it odd how they give you so many options to extend your combos but prevent you from fully utilizing them to their potential. I guess they felt like combos would become too long or too damaging if the tech limit was more lenient.
impossible to say how severe it was because no one was ever doing the combos i posted that should be possible in the first place. Hell untill I started posting all these combos on twitter and my youtube thats when the game blew up. Now everyone was doing the goku combos, the gohan etc etc after i posted it. Hell I heard on a stream they even gave other people credit for my videos. Me and a friend were laughing about it just recently, considering I posted combos like these on SRK months and months ago yet no one did them said they didnt exisit. Then i post videos, now everyones trying to do them. Would anyone have even found them if I didnt finally get the game to post the videos proving it? shrug

And yea, I felt that you liked Cell better lol There were many instances where j.H wouldnt even knockdown properly since the combo was approaching the untechable time limit (or as you would call, tech buffer), so in a way, compared to Cell, Trunks' combo potential isnt as high. I believe this game uses a combo system similar to BlazBlue, where after X amount of time, untechable reaches 0 and they will pop out of whatever move you're doing. Since you're mostly a GG player I bet that sounds strange and frustrating for making combos lol Anyways, eagerly awaiting for your next video! :)
No thats in GG as well, if you watch some of my old GG videos thats why I have to do jabXn as the air combo. So im aware of it. Actually I like trunks more than cell. But you know cells combos looked goofy so im sure they were more aesthetically pleasing to look and people didnt expect it maybe. Even cell though trust me I hit the tech buffer pretty early. 2 of the most important things in this game for doing bigger combos is the fireball button and peoples auto combos since they always must smash. Thankfully trunks can link his auto combos pretty realistically. But his fireball is not friendly for extending combos like cell or other characters even like I showed. Plus like I said i actually kinda already knew trunks would be this way, all his comobs are exactly what I posted on srk so there wasnt much to figure out.

It's a jump cancel in mid air. So you do L M 2H - UP (jump cancel) - L M H (knocks them down)

Thankfully trunks can link his auto combos pretty realistically. But his fireball is not friendly for extending combos like cell or other characters even like I showed. Plus like I said i actually kinda already knew trunks would be this way, all his comobs are exactly what I posted on srk so there wasnt much to figure out.
Clayton chapman are these optimal trunks combos then? Or just early optimized-ish combos?
Also, I know the game is basically almost out, but I was wondering how much input buffer the game has on specials. Like how long the system stores motion inputs?
