    I was excited until I saw you can only use their fabric rolls...at that price per yard I will stick with sublimation.

      One thing I always have fun saying: 9 times out of 10, the only thing standing between you and a bigger craft room is a wall ;D

    How many things can you print before you have to change the printer cartridges? Thank you for answering my many questions.

      unfortunately, the best answer I can give over text is brother used an example photo of a girl on a beach framed in a colorful border. lots of skin tones and a good mix of color throughout. it was about the same size as an 8.5x11 piece of paper and they said you could print 78 of them before running out of ink.

    I would like to purchase this printer, but is it possible to use your own cotton/linen or canvas material treated with inkjet set, attached to freezer paper to print your designs? I would like to make my bags of heavier material such as cotton canvas.

      We haven't tried it here and can't recommend it since it's not technically designed for it, but we also, as a retailer, don't try to push the bounds of what things are designed for past the manufacturer recommendations, so while I can't say you can, I also can't say you can't. (hopefully That wasn't too confusing to read.)

    i know it prints on 100% cotton fabric but do you only purchase the fabric from brother or can you purchase fabric from any other fabric or craft stores?

      @MontavillaSewing  10 місяців тому

      Most Brother Sewing Machine dealers will be carrying it and you can purchase it online as well.

    Did you get around to testing a printed photo on fabric in the washer and dryer to see how it holds up? I can't seem to find taht information anywhere

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello! I did some Extensive testing in the wash. I ran it on a hot wash and a full dry cycle 5 times and it faded about as much as anything would. I washed it with white cloths and there was no ink transfer to them

      That was my main question because he seemed to say it may run, wonder if you could put scotch guard or something on top of the photo?

    How can you make name labels. I like to sew them on my projects I make.

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +3

      There would be lots of ways to make labels! The easiest way would be to use Artspira and it's text editing feature to make the label, but it might more use more fabric than its worth. a more efficient way would be to use a photo editor (GIMP is a free one) and make a project that is 11.5 inches wide and however long you want it, use the text to make a bunch of labels, lay them out next to each other in a grid pattern and export it as an image. Then you can print that and cut out all of your labels!

      Well didn't make it to the tech party:) was under the weather, but will get it later anyways. To answer the question for you about the cost of buying the material. I used to buy 3sheets of printer fabric 8X11 for 15 dollars each. So 5yds for 30 dollars is a great buy and less cost. Yes, you could do it the old way, but now I want to do it the new and better way.

    Is the print quality high, medium or low quality? True to color

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +3

      True to color, yes, and it obviously wont be as sharp as if it was printed on photo paper, but I have never seen anything else come anywhere near this thing for how clean it prints on fabric. No visible bleeding of the ink even upon close inspection.

    how does it hold up in wash

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +2

      I actually testes this already! I washed a samlle 5 tines back to back washer and dryer with a set of white towels. No tea fee kntonthe towels and about as much fading as anything else you would put through the wash. Very minimal.

      Does washing prevent rubbing off on other surfaces you described?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  10 місяців тому +2

      after a little washing, yes. The fresh ink even after dry transfers slightly, but after a couple washes it doesn't transfer at all

    How much is the fsbric. How much on a roll. Price of ink?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +1

      Ink is a standard ink that brother has carried for a while, I believe the cartridges range from $30 to $60 depending on color, and the fabric rolls are $99

    • @pamdavis1613
      @pamdavis1613 3 місяці тому

      How many 8.5 x 11 pieces of fabric can you get for $99?

    Hiii how much do the inks cost?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  9 місяців тому +1

      Depends on where you get it. it uses a brother LC406 ink cartridge set. Anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars for a full set. But they are VERY FULL of ink and can print about 75 Bright, Vibrant 8.5x11 inch photos on fabric on a single set.

    Hi is the ink a PIGMENT ink?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  9 місяців тому +1

      It uses Brother LC406 Cartriges which are pigment based

    Can you design your own patterns?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes you can! There is a lot of functionality within the Artspira app that allows custom designs, and you can take any image into the printer, so you could technically use any program that can output a photo to make your design and send it to the printer.

      The fabric brother uses has a plastic backing stuck on it. The blend is also pretty specific to turn out a high quality print. We haven't tried it ourselves yet so for now, they best bet is to stick with the brother fabric

      I went to check the ink cartridges they use and it's literally regular inkjet ink..... I don't think you can use your own cotton fabric. It's the pre-treated fabric they're trying to sell here.

      What’s the quality after the fabric has been washed? Do the colors hold up?

    • @MontavillaSewing
      @MontavillaSewing  11 місяців тому +2

      I actually did a lot of testing on this because I was skeptical about it. I washed and dried a sample with hot water and a full cycle 5 times with white microfiber towels. There wan no transfer of ink to the towels and while the color did fade slightly (about as much as anything going through 5 hot wash cycles) I could only tell by holding it up to an unwashed print, and it was still hard to tell that it had.
