1:21 there used to be the Somerset and Dorset joint railway here at templecombe just behind the signal box where the trees now stand

Yes, I was on a train returning from Bournemouth West on holiday in August 1962 and remember going along the spur to Upper Templecombe. My Dad took quite a few photos of the journey including Templecombe shed and yard with Collett 0-6-0 No. 3215 present.

@@thefakewasp503yes and now 62 years later a lot has changed because the trees have now covered up on what was the Somerset and Dorset joint railway line

@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 Yes you cannot believe what it was like back then. The engine shed structure still survives as an industrial unit.

I bet you were about 10 years old in 1966 when the Somerset and Dorset joint railway closed the line under dr beeching

@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 Yep, I did have a number of other rides out of Bath Green Park with my mother to Evercreech and along the Midland line to Mangotsfield and remember the last day of the Pines Express via Bath. My father took me to Green Park sheds some Saturday mornings and what a variety of motive power was there.

@@thefakewasp503yeah and some of the stations are still here but they’re now private residents whilst one of them chilcompton is now part of the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust as for the others they’re now demolished and being replaced by housing and industrial facilities

@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 The S&DR Heritage Trust is based at Midsomer Norton where the station, goods shed etc and a mile of track. have been restored. They have bought some of the trackbed to the South of infilled Chillcompton Tunnel hoping to join it up one day. Various buildings still exist along where the line once was but there is plenty to see at the North Dorset Rly Shillingstone Station and of course Bath Green Park Station has been retained but no trains.
