1. R:xb8 Kx:b8 2.Q:xe5 f:xe5 3.R f8 and mate in 2 moves. That combination is from the game Alekhine - Reshevsky, Kemeri 1937. Thanks Suren, we know the game because we have a good memory. Alekhine's first name was Tihon, but his father wanted to change that in Alexander. Alekhine was the most famous Edip in the chess world! 😉👌
Dear chess lovers, I hope that you got the idea of sacrificing two minor pieces correctly! All white needed in this game was too move away his queen from c4 square with a tempo and win Black queen!
Yes I found the two sacrifices to counter attack black queen but missed how to get the queen out of C4 in one variation 😔😔 I was able to find the puzzle answer 1.Rxb8 Kxb8 2.Queen takes Rook and after that a back rank mate and if black doesn't take the rook the he will suffer heavy material loss and can even get in a king hunt And plzz reply on the copying the title argument "unstoppable attack and immovable object" And sorry if u feel bad about anything
Alekhine explained he got this position because he lacked the patience to play long endgames after losing his title. Therefore he avoided a Queen trade on move 17, leaving him with a superior endgame (majority three against two pawns on the queenside). Four months after he regained the title.
Sure I had seen Rxb7 leaving clear advantage and threatening promotion but my analysis of the line was messy and seemed to leave doubt over the promotion. I was wondering if there was a clear line as it seemed better than conceding to mate.
Without looking ahead, I think it's 1 Rxb8+ Kxb8 2 Qxe5+ fxe5 and back rank mate is forced after 3 Rf8+ as black can only delay by blocking with the queen and rook. If 2 ... Kc8 2 Qc7# if 2 ... Ka8 3 Qa1 Kb8 (black can block with Ra2 but after Qxa2 you're in the same spot) 4 Qa7+ Kc8 5 Qa8+ Kd7 6 Qxb7+ and white is up material and the king hunt is on. On the other hand, if 1 ... Kd7 2 Qxb7+ and again the king hunt is on.
In regards to the last puzzle, my first thought was to decoy/deflect the king. When the enemy doesn't have defenders nearby, decoy/deflection is usually the answer, if it's an option. It took me a while to notice the more distant rook and queen x-rays. Back rank issues were the second thing I noticed, but I stubbornly wanted to sneak in through the a file. Once the x-rays were noticed, then the puzzle was solved. I probably should have looked for x-rays before having my heart set on the open file. In all fairness, edge files are often the key to solution in TT, and usually don't require as much calculation as center attacks, so I tend to look for edge file attacks first.
Puzzle. I know I'm so late. 1. Rxb8+ Kxb8 2. Qxe5+ fxe5 (queen sacrifice with a check, so the Queen is forced to be recaptured). 3. Rf8+ and white is winning, black can choose to block with Qe8 or Rd8 but either way white csn just capture with a check and mate
KxR is unfeasible and the K isnt obliged to take the rook. A long series of possible moves can leave the king in a perpetual along one line, and at best end up capturing the black Q, but am too tired to list it all. I'll paste what I did to some point: RxN+, Kd7, Rxb7+, Ke6, Re7+, Kd5, Rd7+, etc. but if after Rxb7+, Ke8, Re7+, RxR, Qb8+, Kf7, Qf8+, Ke6, QxR+, Kd5, Qd6+, Kc4, Rf4+, etc.
1.Rb8+ if black doesn't take the knight he is down a piece without sufficient compensation. White will win soon it is not in doubt. In your line after Ke8 white has a mate in two I think after Ke8 Qe5+. other line after Ke6 white still wins. It is complicated but I doubt black can survive.
"Rxb8 and it's completely winning for white" (**Amadgator's voice)" 1.Rxb8, Kd7 "The king tries to run" 2.Rxb7+, Ke6 3.Re7+, Kd5 And then the crusher! 4.b7 "Crushing" If black tries 4.Rxe7 then white has 5.Qd6+, Kc7 and 6.Qxd2 winning back the rook and vaporizing blacks counter play threat. Then if black continues by playing Rxb7 he is getting forced mate.
Puzzle: Rb8 is winning after me 1. if Kb8 then Qe5 it'll be checkmate by Queen or Rook follow, 2. if Black reject Rook sacrifice Kd7 will follow by Rb7 so White will have a piece up with monster Fish and whatever Black play after this White will successfully defend and will win this game!

Mating line wasn't requested, just Rxb7+ and you'll be up a piece with a passed pawn 2 ranks away, and plenty of defense for g2. Unless you see an airtight way for black to renew the g2 threat, I'd say that's winning for white.

It makes me feel sad Alekhine was given only 52 years of life. He really was the most complete chess player alongside Kasparov.
54 years, if you want to be precise!
