If you begin to understand what you are without trying to change it, then what you are undergoes a transformation. - Jiddu Krishnamurti Phenomenal video! Informative, digestible, and relatable
No here, no there, but everywhere. No life, no death, just endless rejuvenations. No selfs, just oneness with the universe. These are the universal truths about nature and being part of nature, of our "selves". Thank you for sharing this.
I have been meaning to comment for some time. First off, thank you for translating Eastern religion for the Western man. I believe there is a change in our country which will adapt Eastern concepts. Lastly, I would like you to comment if you have ever experienced a fasting state without food for any extended period of time? The reason I ask is that I have always naturally show up as the witness and experience undifferentiated consciousness first hand much easier than other ways. I never meditated but have fasted and it fast tracks yourself to an Eastern perspective of undifferentiated consciousness, being the witnesser, and a phenomenology of oneness. Many times after my fast I wish I could get that feeling back because I regress to my old mind which includes ego, temper, and judgmental. When I fast, I am just experiencing and feeling and watching the show so to speak.
A pleasure to meet you Kenneth and thank you for all the kind words. Yes, I have done many food fasts and I hear what you are saying. If only we didn't have to eat haha. But my main go-to is intermittent fasting which is quite good for daily life. I never really feel like breakfast anyway. Actually, in most monasteries and ashrams they practice intermittent fasting by having only two meals a day, usually breakfast and lunch. Minimal food doesn't agitate the gut which in turn doesn't agitate the mind. Modern diets, on the other other hand, are based on overeating which agitate our system. I know some monasteries that will only eat breakfast and this can be tough when you add on top of that 8 hours of meditation a day. But I can tell you that it is massively transformative. Less is always more.
I have a friend who showed this to me, but he doesn't like to talk so much. He believes in teaching through silence. In spite of that, I read the whole document because it was interesting to him.
Would it be correct to say- We make too many false suppositions because our previous suppositions were wrong and if we relax and step back from those suppositions, observe the naturalness of everything then we will get a clear understanding of the way things actually are?
Isn't it one of the miracles of being human that you can (upon deep reflection) see oneness and separation at the same time. Also, being able to do this enables us to flit in and out of ideas and adapt to whatever new philosophies we encounter on our path of life. Doesn't this ability to think in a dualistic enable us to traverse the complexities of life?
Thank you, i do not know chuang zi until a week ago..( episode About the 7 holes... )i Will look at your other video on him and try to find a good/ correct book..
I prefer to label it 'Tao', instead of 'Dao'. The more phonetic emphasis we place on the 'T' sound through synaesthesia works to establish a more 'concrete' auditory quality when vocalising the word; that it IS (so to speak) an actual 'thing', for the purposes of more congruently according with it in my behaviour beyond the scope of situations in which we know the risks/stakes are dramatically higher than normal.
"Dao" is how it is pronounced in Chinese. The use of "T" was from the older Wade-Giles romanization. In Chinese it is more of a "D" sound so the more recent Pinyin romanization is accurate, no matter what you believe. That is how it is pronounced in Chinese, so why would you think your understanding is greater than Chinese people?
Thank you for this video! I’m wondering, however, does Zhuangzi NOT believe in things being inherently bad (i.e.causing harm to others) or good (something being for the greater good ) ? Politics are trivial but that is the one exception I cannot imagine his philosophy would apply.
Things are never good or bad.. All things have a purpose.. Take for example a venom.. It can used to kill a person but the same venom is also used to make an anti dote so that we can use that anti dote to kill that same venom.. Another example is nuclear energy.. We can use it for destruction and we can also use it to make electricity.. So that's how it goes
Hi Tracey. I'm assuming you mean Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu)? Here is a blog on great books on Taoism jasongregory.org/books-for-studying-taoism/ Also it best to read the text attributed to Zhuangzi simply know as the Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu) (both are different romanizations). I would suggest The Complete Works of Chuang Tzu translated by Burton Watson. It might be difficult to understand at first, but you could watch some of my videos on the text to help you out.

Fast the mind! What a great concept! And how poorly we are accustomed to doing the exact opposite here in the West and in most of society. Namaste 🙏

Highly recommend the Burton Watson translation my friend.
Other than your UA-cam channel, do you have any recommendations for commentary on the Zhuangzi text? Thank you btw.

Hello , what do u recommend reading about 'fasting the mind'?
You might want to read my book called 'Fasting the Mind.' Also, you might want to read the Zhuangzi text, preferably the Burton Watson translation.

Thank you for this video!
