- Wei speaks one-on-one with Rexhep Rexhepi, a panelist from our Legends of Independent Watchmaking Horological Symposium at Geneva Watch Days 2022, to learn about his journey of becoming one of the most celebrated watchmakers in the modern era.
It has been 10 years since Rexhep founded AkriviA and in that time he has had to overcome significant challenges, being an immigrant from Kosovo, and the initial difficulty of having people appreciate his vision for watchmaking. The quality of his movement finishing and decoration is now regarded as one of the best in the business and this year, he has been nominated for the GPHG once again, having already won in 2018.

It was a pleasure to watch this interview. Rexhep is such a likable and humble man. I wish him continued success for a long career as a master watchmaker, and to continue to pursue the projects that bring him happiness. I remain hopeful that one day I will receive an email notification that I have been allocated a RRCC of my very own.

Great interview! Rexhep’s horological passion is unmatched, which shines through in this inspiring interview and especially in the art and science of Akrivia’s timepieces. The RRCC in rose gold is the most elegant watch dial ever created, matched only by the exquisite finishing of the movement and the workmanship of Jean-Pierre Hagmann’s case. I dream about owning a RRCC someday!

Rexhep Rexephi my favourite independent watchmaker. I was checking out his watches from the beginning and was infatuated with his first creation the Chronometre Contemporain RR01 in rose gold. I just wished I had the money to buy it as I would have been the first to get it in a heart beat. It sucks not having money for it at the time. His watches are not attainable now as he is established now.

What an incredible and fun interview to watch. It's so inspiring to see so much passion and commitment from Rexhep and to understand his watchmaking journey from such a young age.
I have been in awe of the RRCC since like forever (and I love the RRCC II just as much) but I have begun to appreciate the level of fine workmanship in the Akriva AK-06 as well. One day, I hope to at least own a timepiece from him.

I’ve met Rexhep throughout a friend of mine who both were working at BNB concept back in the days…
Was extremely surprised to know after a couple of years I first saw and met Rexhep that that young men who were hanging with us is now one of the most creative and talented watchmaker in the Swiss watch industry hats off also proud coz I’m an Albanian from Kosovo living in Geneva I sometimes walk by his Atelier in the old Geneva town
