Now Final Fantasy is wailing on your enemies repeatedly with feathers while building a stagger gauge to open a window to actually hit them with something more substantial then repeat. But they do it like that now cause it's apparently what the majority want/like. People would rather have combat that is flashy then something where each attack feels impactful.
Squall is by far one of the most OP main protaganists, with his Renzokuken limit break, and depending on what finisher you get, you can do sooooooo much damage, its a dream come true lol.
I remember finding him back in the day and being dumbfounded as to how to actually win. I know all kinds of strategies now thanks to the internet, but back then, this was the real deal.
Oh good old days. I didn't had Lion heart when i was fighting omega, and i was noob, so i didn't use any items :D After a week of trying i finally beat it using Squall, Zell and Quistis. Quistis was for White Wind, Zell for Defend, all damage was done by Squall. I kept him at low hp, and sometimes used aura spell. That was a long tough fight, but i managed to do it :)
Was 11 when i first tried, dead over 40 times. 12 years later on PS4 i beat him with no Cheese, more Timing and not a single holy war. Why? As you showed plenty at the end there: Canister shots. OP in my opinion because of the ridiculous time to shoot compared to any other shots. Learned his attack pattern as well, and the Rest is history. You feel really satisfied when finally beating him. Thanks for the memories!
In terms of damage, Squall, Zell and Irvine are the best pick. All 3 can dish out a ton of damage with their limit breaks if done right (or if you get Lion Heart with Squall on top of his Renzokuken). Or you can just have one be replaced by Selphie and use The End for insta-win.
What a game, so many things to do, this fight was really hard, people saying it's easy try to sound cool and shit, but when you are playing for the first time or second and don't really have UA-cam and the most important, you are a 14 kid or less it's a hard challenge to beat him, still remember the tension in this fight and the failures haha, epic memories, just listening the music of some Psx games makes feel sad 😭. Wish I was that happy kid playing psx again.
100% agree, that's ALWAYS the team I rolled with. It wasn't even being sexist, Irvine annihilates with Pulse Ammo. Zell can majorly kick ass with his limit. And well Squall, just f'n rocks.
I had Rhinoa + Squall + a heeler.... and kept pumping out Wishing Star & Lion Heart, while the Heeler concentrated on giving out Aura & Cure. Miss this game. My First game ever and this introduced me to the FF series.
There's a way to get The End easily, but it required you to open your PS1 disc cover once you activated selphies limit break. This allowed you to keep shuffling through her limit break without Omega being able to move until you selected something. Once you selected the limit break, you close the PS1 lid back and then profit ensues.
NostalgiaGaming While I understand your hatred over something very popular, calling it overrated is unfair. FF7 is an incredible game and the most popular all for the right reasons.
Brings back memories. I fought it many times. Used many different stiles, teams. Holy War. The End, Defend, Zombie. Even Apocalypse ( for junction purpose ( together with Ultima....that gave me the best protection )). But the one battle I still remember to this day is the one in which Omega was going ''nuts'' ( way too quick, I could barely keep up ). In the end he overpowered me speed wise ( I had no chance to react ). And with the whole team dead....Phoenix !!! I was stunned. I activated Holy war after that and survived. But that particular Omega was as deadly as they come.
@@sh0xoR Correct. For me using both of the spells with 100 value for janctioning as well as casting them was for the purpose of a replay value, as otherwise I already did this game quite a few times in many different ways. So I wanted to see and use the best junction magic in use in my final replay. P.S. Ultima spell casting damage wise is better.
Cheap startegy: use Squall, Zell, and Rinoa. Enter battle with low HP (yellow), then quickly use a Holy Wars to make your party invincible, Meltdown him, and obliterate him with Limit Breaks (Rinoa must use Meteor while in her winged form). This shall kill him before the invincibility ends.
I love this fight so much. Skilled players make it look easy, but believe me, it isn't. One mistake, one hesitation, and you're done. But since Omega uses a fixed attack pattern, all it takes to beat him is a pattern on your end to deal, mitigate, and recover from damage and KO's caused to you. You just have to keep it up, and that is the challenge. BTW, it is totally possible to do this without the use of full restorative items.
It's interesting to watch Irvine's character model during his Limit Break. It's almost like it freezes and only moves one frame by one frame with each shot.
Ha! I remember this battle. My team was Squall, Rinoa, Zell. Carry lots of aura spells or stones. 99 Megga-elixirs! Just keep shell and protect up and just try to get Rinoa and squalls ultimate limit breaks - Lionheart does huge damage and wishing star does shit loads. Like has been said before, follow a set plan v omegas set plan and you should be able to beat him.
The only thing I'll say about meltdown is that it's far FAR better to just summon doomtrain. The effect meltdown afflicts is called vitality 0. If you summon doomtrain it works every time. Also, use those frickin holy wars, dog! This the hardest boss in the game lmao this is what they are for.
I never figured out how to deal with Terra Break beyond using holy wars and heroes. No matter what your stats, Terra break will party wipe your team unless you negate the damage somehow. Now I know that defend completely negates it. Cool.
BlizzardandBlaze Defend, Holy Wars, Heroes are the only thing that prevents a party wipe. Well, also if someone is lucky and takes the less hits from the attack.
I had to beat this boss because of my screen name. I fought him today without defend, hero's, or holy wars. I got my ass saved by Phoenix after everyone died from Terra Break. Man, that was a battle. Also, I gotta say that Ultimecia puts up a good fight in this game. First time I fought her, I lost all my party members except Squall.
When the remastered version comes out "After we take Ultima Weapon & Bahamut, we want the gold sucka, OMEGA WEAPON we coming for you n........! (Booker T style)
It would have been nice Ultimecia had more of a back story. I mean we just find out at the beginning of chapter 3 that she was possessing Edea and later find out that she was using a device created by Odine that mimics ellone's ability to send one's conscious to the past and deduces she wants to use Ellone to send her conscious even further back to the past to compress time. Then you go to the future to kill her
By the way, AP Ammo would definitely be best for Irvine in this battle. Much faster, but still would hit 9999. If you get it down, it's possible to get 30 hits in back and forth between Booya and Heel Drop for Zell, making the most powerful Limit Break besides Lion Heart and The End.
I always killed Omega Weapon with The end, Selphie magic! is the best mode to kill, use Aura, Hero item her and find The End =) This magic kill all enemy except the last boss
Dude got so lucky on that one Terra Break. I saw him have Irvine use an Aura Stone right before and thought, "Game over. He's going to play catch up until he loses or gets lucky." Sure enough he got lucky right off the bat.
i know this is a really old thread but the chance to get a lionheart increases the less hp squall has.. so ideally you should use squalls limit break as often as possible after omega used megido flame on your party.. this way you don't need to farm these annoying luck seeds..

Squal Riona and Zell is a better pair. Riona can put auto-revive, aura stone and haste or helps partner invisible and ocasionally on limit break..let squall and zell do the limit break..the game ends faster
@@noelconde995 If you hit a good 10-12 second interval Zell's Armageddon fists is insane damage. Between hitting Beat Rush and Booya you can do those at least 3 times per second. Which equals to a good 30 hits that do 9999 more than Lionheart.
I forget the lineup but I remember I had one holy war that I dropped immediately, I built defense, then I tried to spam Squall's limit breaks in hopes of repeated Lionharts. The one time I beat him I got something like 7 lionharts. I don't think they were all consecutive but there wasn't many variations. I was young so I didn't understand AI patterns to that degree.
I always used smth like 'steel ammo' with Irvine (played in german, dno if its the same in english). I think it does more damage per use than Quick Shot (~5 x 9999 as far as I remember )
Nice job actually fighting it instead "cheating" :) I've beaten it by spamming Zell's limits, which is probably how most people have beaten it, and others have simply tried to outspeed it with haste and constant limit attacks. Seeing someone beating it based on the simple AI script is pretty cool :) In my opinion this is a very manageable fight, Omega will just punish you HARD if you mess up.
+Mathias Yeah timing is key. It's during those small windows it's smart to spam Duel and Shot, it's AI script is easy to follow but the consequence of messing up is serious.
RoxasNova I wonder how tough the fight is on a low level. FF VIII scales down the enemy level so that it's similar to yours. And since bosses don't give EXP you can fight it on an extremely low level on which it is much weaker and far below 1 million HP.
back in the day, even after max out every stat, still lose to this guy, finally I had to use Hero items and 2 lion heart to kill him, game these days are too easy, not as hardcore as it used to be.
@Slumerican Mystik No they didn't lol. Terra Break can be Defended since it's a physical move. Try not to educate other people on the game if you have no idea how it works.
@Slumerican Mystik The only difference between the new one and the PS1 one is the level balance. The new one's level is related to your party average whilst the PS1 one has a set level 100. Fighting it with level 100 characters is the same. I have beaten it without the use of heros and many others have. Megiddo Flame can be withstood with having all your characters at maximum HP. Terra Break can be blocked with Defend, yes it's worth replacing GF or Draw lol smh. Again, you're uneducated about the game and have a false sense of superiority.
@Slumerican Mystik 3:28 Stop being an idiot. He uses it everytime after Gravija. I'm just annoyed that you're trying to educate people about how this thing should be done when you have no idea how to do it yourself. Acclaiming yourself to be some master of the game when you're not.
If you just Pheonix Down Squall and Irvine you wouldnt need Aura to Limit Break because using a turn to cast Aura can get you killed and you wouldve wasted the spell/item. Whatever junction you had on Irvine and Squall to make them immune to Terra Break shouldve been equipped on the one who will be reviving everyone. I finished this battle in 3min, but then again it's mostly RNG anyway. I hit Lionheart 3 times and only needed to revive Squall twice. I also had all 3 carry Meltdown just to speed it up at the start. I haven't seen anyone be able to do it yet, but if you listen to the audio queues of the Limit Break when you reset the turn by presing O, you can mash O as fast as you can and stop when you hear the beep. I've always done it this way since I was a kid, but I dont know if the ported versions are slower.
When i played FFX and I had Yojimbo; the first time he did Zanmato I thought... i could have really used that in FF7 against Ruby Weapon And FF8 against Omega Weapon
I remember spending almost the entire summer grinding to get everyone’s stats up to 255%? Think that was the max. Getting tons of aura stones/spells plus mega elixirs. Having to make super quick choices against this bastard. Too bad there wasn’t camera phones back then. Had to load up your game to show the proof of omega screen haha
It's a hard fight if You Wanna win fair. The end of Quistis is the quickest one. And the second is selling Laguna Card for hero Drinks. And the other is Runoa ulti, dog make You invinsible. Renzokuken, Pulse one like 4 times and done.
I don't know, many many years passed but of all things i remember how i beat this bastard. Terra break? Nope i equipped earthquakes and that Attack would not do sht against me.
Use Cerebrus first to give your team double/triple, then cast Aura on everyone, then throw a Holy War, then cast Meltdown, then smash his face with Limit breaks until holy war wears off and repeat.
Another easy way is to get the Laguna card and get your 100 heros. Wait for the Megiddo Flame, cast on everyone and go to fucking town on him with Zell.
zell lb is broken as with enough strengh, the simpliest combo deal enough damage and the timer doesn't even lose a sec if quick enoughthat's lead to infinite timer with punch spam. powning secured. edit: pardon: my mistake. the timer still decrease but you can enter the command quickly enough to deal numerous combos.
light pillar - 9.999 to a single target megiddo flame - 9.998 to party terra break - 9.999+ to party he didn't die to terra break, because he used 'defend' which cancels any physical attacks including terra break
@@steviegynwa1490 FF10 side bosses are pretty easy you just have to grind the sphere grid levels to be on their strength level. Plus Aeon spamming makes pretty much the entire game a joke.

Didn't spam skip after realizing. It took awhile, bad habit I had playing this game.
the best FF Ever!!!
Kkk
why can " defend " neutralize Terra Break ^^
Kai Wegner because why not
because terra break is a physical attack
Squal Riona and Zell is a better pair. Riona can put auto-revive, aura stone and haste or helps partner invisible and ocasionally on limit break..let squall and zell do the limit break..the game ends faster
Isnt irvine limit break stronger than zells?
@@noelconde995 zell can do more damages than irvine with his limit break if you do well
@@noelconde995 If you hit a good 10-12 second interval Zell's Armageddon fists is insane damage. Between hitting Beat Rush and Booya you can do those at least 3 times per second. Which equals to a good 30 hits that do 9999 more than Lionheart.
Gee, Omega Weapon just wouldn't die. Omega Weapon kept using dirty card tricks and just dragged on the battle, what a beast.
Thank you! Hopefully I'll pull this off solo someday,
I forget the lineup but I remember I had one holy war that I dropped immediately, I built defense, then I tried to spam Squall's limit breaks in hopes of repeated Lionharts.
Nice job actually fighting it instead "cheating" :)
I've beaten it by spamming Zell's limits, which is probably how most people have beaten it, and others have simply tried to outspeed it with haste and constant limit attacks. Seeing someone beating it based on the simple AI script is pretty cool :)
In my opinion this is a very manageable fight, Omega will just punish you HARD if you mess up.
+Mathias From my understanding, it's easier at a low level given the proper stat boosting junctions.
+RoxasNova Only on the PC version. On the Playstation version it's automatically set to level 100.
Yes i spammer Zell and Rinoa's limite and I used Squall to defend. I used Rinoa for that limit Invisible Moon
back in the day, even after max out every stat, still lose to this guy, finally I had to use Hero items and 2 lion heart to kill him, game these days are too easy, not as hardcore as it used to be.
It was even harder since we didn't have internet !
I also loved the fact that it made kids share and socialize their discoveries.
Holy Wars makes this fight too easy.
Quistis Cards. Oh yeah.
@Slumerican Mystik You can do it without holy war's.
Omega Weapon: "You are all annihilated!"
FINAL FANTASY 8
this thing plowed me into the ground over and over again for hours i still havent dropped him
Thank you for this clean straight up battle!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Meltdown is successful when the target turns purple-ish pink color. That's when you know vit = zero.
I've always done it this way since I was a kid, but I dont know if the ported versions are slower.
awesome show dude
My Omega experience was a couple tiger balls then we turned in with a hot cup of cocoa.
18 min..?.. i beat omega, but in almost 50 min....i remember had 1500000 hp....and in my version, no have possibility to defend from terra brake
When i played FFX and I had Yojimbo; the first time he did Zanmato I thought... i could have really used that in FF7 against Ruby Weapon And FF8 against Omega Weapon
Well fought. Was waiting for 15:18
I remember fight him with only 1 hp, rely on holy war and hero drink item lol (invis)
I remember beating 19 year ago
I has to refine a card in order to get 100 items, i cant remember which ítem was in exhange.
This dude has over 3,000,000 hp. I remember this being one hell of a battle. Took me nearly an hour though.
he has 1,600,000 million hp
Why didn't you use Holy Wars? Makes you invincible. That's how I beat him. Also with Lionheart.
Same and equip the death spells against him , not very challenging if you had those
You also can reduce the damage of Terra Break if you use the Spell "Zombie" on your party ;)
Either zombie or protect would work I heard. Though uhh… not sure how one would be able to handle that
I said the same thing about his KH counterpart so many times for the last view days LOL. Try it out! It's seriously nerve racking.
Use Cerebrus first to give your team double/triple, then cast Aura on everyone, then throw a Holy War, then cast Meltdown, then smash his face with Limit breaks until holy war wears off and repeat.
Or you could just do what I did and use The End. NO SHAME
Neil Divins does that works?
NMA_ YT yes
Another easy way is to get the Laguna card and get your 100 heros. Wait for the Megiddo Flame, cast on everyone and go to fucking town on him with Zell.
@@martinooi6640 I would like to see that xD
zell lb is broken as with enough strengh, the simpliest combo deal enough damage and the timer doesn't even lose a sec if quick enoughthat's lead to infinite timer with punch spam. powning secured.
edit: pardon: my mistake. the timer still decrease but you can enter the command quickly enough to deal numerous combos.
I thought Omega weapon did an attack that dealt 9999 to all players?!?
light pillar - 9.999 to a single target
megiddo flame - 9.998 to party
terra break - 9.999+ to party
he didn't die to terra break, because he used 'defend' which cancels any physical attacks including terra break
This boss is technically one of the strongest in FF history. Around the same level as Exdeath.
Ff 10 had side bosses that made this look easy and a whole bunch of them.
@@steviegynwa1490 FF10 side bosses are pretty easy you just have to grind the sphere grid levels to be on their strength level. Plus Aeon spamming makes pretty much the entire game a joke.
@@izicial7469 yeah but without the use of zanmato penance is hard even with constant grinding out the sphere grid so my point being is still valid that they make ff8 bosses look like bugs.
@@steviegynwa1490 I'm with you. (Without use of Yojimbo,) Penance is the toughest fight I've faced in any FF game. Omega Weapon was also very tough at the time. I'm sure nowadays people have posted strategies online of how to beat Penance with relative simplicity, but when you had to work it out for yourself via trial and error, it was very difficult. FFX and FFVIII are my favourite two
And the winner for the greatest airship goes to the Ragnarok 🤠👍🏼
Can you tell me how to prepare for this battle. I keep dying.
I am mega late in response, check out the description, my whole strategy was there
Megiddo Flame>>>Gravija doesn't really make sense. Perhaps they intended the opposite, though that would be pretty deadly.
Ugly Ass If you were not junctioned properly those two attacks would end you. One Two Done. Only thing saving his ass in reality is the junctioning. Thats it.
If the order was reversed you'd have one turn to get everyone back to 9999, which likely means megalixir.
Ok Omega weapon Terra break like what is it.sure it jumps in the air blast a beam to break the background into a dark dimension and it release shooting star beams from his hands to the party.damn that deadly.
I defeated this piece of shit with Selphie Limit Break The End
bastardindindin samee. i used the trick to open the disk during the boss fight and wait for The End to come up....
