The lack of an unload filament option is a benefit. Unloading filament traditionally means forcing nearly extruded filament out of the nozzle which can damage the printer. I like flashforge's solution.
I do think the same
great review now i know if i should buy it!
I bought this printer a few months ago and for a long time was having issues starting prints, it would just shut down whenever I tried starting up a print. Eventually I asked customer support and was able to fix it up and I've got no problems now.
I was like 100! Lol. I just picked one of these up. Plan on doing a little review vid on my other channel my self. Good video. Hope you keep at it. One day you might be big enough to get those free review machines! Cheers
Appreciate it!
I think the 5M is super underrated. It's just hard to bite the bullet knowing it was a FlashForge printer, I would say it was a great investment as I do have one myself
I like the printer, just recently got one, like last week. Though, the Allen keys supplied wouldn't let me unscrew the 4 security screws, and I had to use my own keys that were a better fit.
Also in orca slicer ver 2.0.0. I can wifi print, because I have! So I have no idea why you can't.
Tried PETG, without an issue so far, bed temp at 75, and filament at 255
Well presented review, the background music was just about okay, as was really low level.
I have this printer, nice machine. I've made a few hundred minis.
I'm currently working on a video where I print minis with the 5M!
@@LT3D_YT Supportless minis work really nice. Briteminis, Arbiter, & Rocket Pig are my favorite so far
great content thanks very much :)
Glad you liked it!
Loved the video! Actually just picked up two of these guys, while also grabbing an A1 from the Bambu sale (tik tok shop discount rocks). I'm definitely interested to see how they compare. The P1P I have is miles above my other machines (Prusa Minis and Adventurer 3 Lites) so I'm guessing Bambu will come out on top, but we will see!
Thanks so much! I hope you have a good experience with the printers. I also just purchased an A1 from the sale as well 😂
@@LT3D_YT Ha, nice!! Flashforge 5Ms are on sale on ebay RN for 231+tax too.
Orca 2.0 has wireless printing for the 5m.
Thanks for letting me know, the review was recorded before 2.0 was released 👍🏻
Can you do auto-bed level before each print when sending over wifi?
@@bystander85 yes through Orca-Flashforge, there is a little tick box for levelling.
For more info check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/P6jdBB2n0aM/v-deo.html
Thanks for the review. I am just waiting for my adventurer 5m and can get rid of my old anycubic i3 mega
There’s definitely been some good firmware updates since this review so you can now enjoy wireless printing and live monitoring 👍🏻
You need SOOOOOOO many more subs
Thanks that's very nice of you to say!
I won one of these printers last month and have used it a little. I'm a total noob to 3D printing so I knew nothing about using it going in. Setup was really easy and the initial calibration and test print went well. The hardest thing I found during setup was getting the touch screen attached to the printer frame. I was scared to death I was going to break the mounts on the back of the screen and/or tear the ribbon cable. As far as software goes, I'm using the Linux version of Flashprint. I found it a little confusing to use as a noob, but now that I understand it a little better it seems to do pretty well. I've only done a couple prints so far, but both have turned out perfectly.
Great to hear!
Thank you for uploading this video,I'm trying to buy a 3d printer, and I really think this is the one to choose. But 1 question,is it loud?
Honestly it's not too loud. But I wouldn't recommend sleeping in the same room with it 😂
Never owned a 3d printer and after finally deciding to get one I researched a few this one was too for the price. And after your review I think I’m going to get it. Time to learn I guess
If you need any help with anything feel free to reach out!
All the issues you mentioned have been fixed. Orca is great but i use Orca-Flash because you can send prints and choose to level the bed from the slicer! In 2 weeks I've had zero failures!!!
Fantastic to hear!
Thanks for the review. I am interested in how well it printed TPU, can you provide the "Wall" printing speed setting for TPU..
I used their default settings of 200 mm/s for Outer wall and 300 mm/s for Inner wall
Appreciate the review mate. I just need to figure out whom to purchase from to ensure the gold build plate & firmware updates are included... Flashforge or Amazon... Guess I'll email them :) Cheers!
Ours just arrived from Amazon. I'll unbox later and let you know
Well ordered my yesterday. Came today, and I have done limited prints so far, but it has the best quality in my farm right now. I have purchased about 12 printers. The closest so far is my Kobra Neo 2, but still is not near as fast, and this still beats it on quality(not including resin of course). Interested in finding out if you can use any multi color 3rd party add on with this.
I’ve heard some people have hooked up a 3D Chameleon kit to it for multi-colour printing and I do believe Flashforge are working on a multi-colour solution as well speak.
Just watch your review of the Adventurer 5M. Great review! I have an Adventurer 5M myself have had it for a little over a month. I Absolutely love the machine. I don’t have a bamboo labs machine, but I have to think it’s every bit as good, maybe a tiny bit smaller but that is it. There’s also a much better screen on the Adventurer 5M and the fast change nozzle is definitely an advantage over the bamboo labs machines. Agree with everything you said. However, there is wireless printing through orca slicer. There are a couple UA-cam channels that have explained how to do it. It is very simple. Also, Flashforge just released their own version of orca slicer with all the profiles, including tips that range from size of 0.25 up to 0.8 and all of the filaments that you can print with the printer. Also allows for remote viewing if you add the camera which you can get off of their websiteand there is a mobile app that works on both iOS and android too.
Did you notice there is a spot in the new ORcaflash slicer that says "Multi Unit"....It looks like they have future plans for an AMS
@@anthonylong5870 I'd say give it a month or two and it'll be released.
@@LT3D_YT I hope so. its about time other companies started rolling MMU out and giving people options. My Bambu P1P died after 2 months and now I have a$300 AMS just sitting there as a waste. If FF puts out a MMU I will get it for my 5M
@@anthonylong5870 same here, as soon as they release one I’m purchasing it and making a video.
@@LT3D_YT That would be awesome! Ill tune in
nice video! im considering this printer and the qidi x smart 3, any opinions on going one or the other? similar-ish price points in aud.
Honestly I'd hold off for two to three months if possible as Flashforge have just released their 2024 road map which includes New Gen Adventurer 5M and 5M Pro printers releasing in August.
Just IMO, for slightly more money, the Qidi Q1 Pro would be the better option. Larger build volume than either, with an enclosed heated chamber, but that depends on your budget.
I just got the 5M pro and can say Wifi printing does work
They released an update that lets you remote print with a branch of orcaslicer.
Yeah I saw that I have a short update video coming out on that soon
4:20 - That was my first experience too. But, it got little bit worse, since it damaged the bed AND the nozzle. The nozzle die couple of prints later. Also, I face many freezes during the usage.
That’s not good to hear at all. I’ve started to notice some issues with mine since the last couple of firmware updates.
Which firmware version is stable and doesn’t have this issues?
@@webpro607 I've had minimal issues with 2.6.6 (the latest).
Does it print nylon and CF nylon with an enclosure? They say the nozzle goes up to 280 which should be enough, but in the specs I couldn't see nylon anywhere even for the pro version. Is there some design quirk that prevents from printing nylon?
I had a chance to use the 5M Pro a while ago and can confirm that it can print ASA-CF and PA. I don't see any reason why it couldn't print PA-CF.
I'm not sure about the 5M though, I might have to print the enclosure and test this myself.
@@LT3D_YT Thx! Btw is there a link to the enclosure kit? Couldn't find it under accessories tab on their website
They don’t currently have it available on their website however you can buy the parts on AliExpress a.aliexpress.com/_mt88fOW
I’ve printed sainsmart PaCf on mine (5m pro). The hardest part was coming up with the filament profile because FF doesn’t have one.
This wasn't recorded in 2023, was it? That what you said at 7:01.
Anyway, came across this video because I found this printer on sale on AliExpress for 249USD + tax. I kinda want it for the price.
The beta open klipper seems to still have WiFi issues but since the printer comes with Ethernet port, it should work just as well, if not better.
The enclosure kit asks for 49.99USD + tax though, I prefer your price😂.
One thing I'm very concerned is that the proprietary nozzle design. 35 USD a piece for is just too much and there doesn't seem be to any aftermarket choices.
I recorded it early 2024 but the printer was released in late 2023.
Having trouble printing from usb...can you or anyone recommend something
I originally had the same issue, I’ve found that some USB brands just don’t work with it even if it has been formatted correctly. I recommend SanDisk brand 👍🏻
I keep wavering between this and the Neptune 4. I’m at a standstill with indecision lol
I'd go with the Neptune at the moment as since this review the firmware updates Flashforge has pushed out have had a significant amount of bugs.
@@LT3D_YT I got the Neptune 4 plus off the advice. I’m excited to start tinkering on it
How’s customer service?
Honestly not great at the moment, however I’m lucky enough to have a distributor in my town who is very helpful.
It seems at the moment that Flashforge is too focused on a multi colour solution and a new printer than fixing issues with the current models. They also completely dropped support and updates for the previous Adventurer 4 series printers which is pretty disappointing as their last firmware updates had some big issues.
Does it work with cura slicer
I believe some people in the Flashforge Facebook Group have created Cura Profiles.
Works with Orcaslicer 2.0 from Wifi fine
Just an update
Yeah I recorded this before wifi was available. Very happy we have it now 😁
@@LT3D_YT Mine has adhesion issues but I did manage to print the enclosure and ordered the extra parts, I hope that solves the problem. The glue does shit.
When it works it works well, it's all in those first few layers and will it lift
I think the enclosure is a must have even with PLA but obviously enables other materials
@@user-yg8ti5zv5d which firmware are you running because I believe there are some bugs with the latest.
@@LT3D_YT Latest firmware
@@LT3D_YT The latest
It updated a week ago
It seems OK now
The non sticking issue comes and goes
Fitting the enclosure today I'm hoping it will just go away with PLA
Not tried any other material yet but I intend to use Pet-G and ABS for the final prints now I have the enclosure
I have a cat is the main reason I bought the kit
Hair got into the last 3d printer screws
It gets everywhere
I got it on a sale for 299!
What a bargain!
US or CAD?
The printer works really well!
@@zurablomidze7204 might not be on sale anymore
I bought it and it broke after 25 printing hours 😢
That's not good to hear. How did it break?
You can send through orca WIFI ! BEEN DOING IT SINCE 2 MONTHS BACK HMU ILL TEACH YOU
