"A century and the plague has spread A suburban hell for the living dead Locked alone in their lavish homes With pets and wigs and their bloated thrones" Instantly brings to mind modern American culture.
I love how in the chorus, the lyric text changes to cartoony and large text like those old 1900s posters. Really fits the cartoon that plays between the lyrics as well.
I'm in the process of writing a comic and I'm currently considering what songs my characters might sing at a karaoke night to help me to delve deeper into their psyches. This is definitely one of them, the lyrics are fantastic and resonate rather well with one of my characters that has gone through a painful loss.
It’s always nice to meet another story teller! I do agree; this music is great for describing painful loss but also recollection and acceptance. If you’d be willing to talk and collab on projects, I’m all for it.
Dance rock grooves with mythological chanting and a searing pop chorus only you guys would be insane enough to try this and make it work, but god damn if you didn't do just that
This is the best song on the album by far, but all of them have wowed me (as per usual this group is amazing). 3:35 - 4:25 is stellar; I can't get enough of the instrumental and vocals. I can't wait to learn the story behind this one!
I like how the images kind of sync with the music, it’s my favorite thing in animations with songs in the background, it’s just so satisfying and visually appealing. Also the part where the singer has a different sound/tone (hard to describe) and the font changes is a really nice detail
I find myself coming back to this song again and again. The harmonization is beautiful, the instruments make me wanna get up and stomp, and the lyrics make me need to sing at the top of my lungs! I think this song will always be one of my favorites and my go-to for when I want to introduce DPR to my friends.
You've outdone yourselves with this album, and I know my favourite song is up next. I'm still trying to decipher the full story, but at least we know the overarching theme.
brain has been tickled wowowow why isn't this topping the charts I LOVE THIS,, the way the super heavy guitar and choir are chopped up between solo guitar is so scrumptious i just adore this composition and then the CHORUS COMES IN and it's like a BREATH OF FRESH AIR because it flows so well after the verses being choppy and thick (in a good way) and then the GUITAR SOLO AAAA was so chaotic and free??? i love it aeeeee my music brain is going wee rn ALSO THE FALLING/ASCENDING SYNTH IS A NICE TOUCH THAT I DIDN'T NOTICE WITHOUT HEADPHONES and the bridge feels like i'm going down a tunnel to go kill god chef's kiss and the ending is so abrupt it's like a cliffhanger and i want moreee
Randomly appeared in my playlist and I am merely blown away.. This is tremendous! Instantly shared it with my friends. Thank you for creating this gem and thank you UA-cam for giving me this before it will inevitably blow up!
Ohhhh, yet another fantastic song!! I've been streaming your songs on spotify on repeat for ages, but I do always like to come back to these lyrics videos because I just love the way you design them, they're so cool and satisfying to watch and definitely make for an incredibly immersive experience!!!
you guys are one of the best bands I know of, you guys deserve wayy more popularity. I have been in love with all of the raven locks. Im so happy I found you guys!
I can’t believe I just realized you guys released a new album in JUNE. Every song SLAPS! Love the rock feel of this one... got em all on Spotify soon as I heard!!!
My favorite song from you guys, I really freaking love it Although I would actually say it ties with ‘Those who sojour’ which is also an absolute masterpiece
To be perfectly honest I don't know what's going on or who you guys are but so far all your songs slap. Can't think of a band that interested me this much since Statues of Cats. Keep up the good work!
This is.... Beautiful!! The song - the tune - the video - the lyrics - the typography - the animation - the frame size - it's... It's art, and I'm at a loss of words!
Okay. Now looking at the lyrics I see the obvious talking of the Labyrinth, which I didn’t notice before. But now I’m wondering if the song is referencing Daedalus as a whole.
thinkin' bout the phrase "sap of tree, blood of man" in connection to Saints I's "an end to the shedding of the blood"... A nice callback, one I missed on my first listen though. Very keen!
that beginning video is from a superman animated short from 1941. i thought i recognized it :) ua-cam.com/video/9UJphNPwDfk/v-deo.htmlsi=_eys2tEJiw3wiSOp&t=337 cool
I absolutely love how everything going on in the sky is reflected into the water, such a small detail but so nice
Me too! I love little details like that.
"Fire with fire, bolt for bolt, the god of the maze will meet our ghost" This part I just LOVE. It's so good.
Woke up today with this song stuck in my head, randomly. There are worse ways to start a Monday :D

Unfortunate this isn't more popular than it is, because it truly deserves it.
Massively underrated. Been going through your entire discography.

Are they revealing the backstory now?

Why is this so good?! When I first heard the song, I was absolutely blown away by the first few seconds and it just went up from there!

These songs are criminally underrated.

The solo...it's so beautiful...
WHY ARE YOUR SONGS JUST SO GOOD, ALL OF THEM HAVE A DIFFERENT FLAVOUR
To be perfectly honest I don't know what's going on or who you guys are but so far all your songs slap. Can't think of a band that interested me this much since Statues of Cats. Keep up the good work!

Wow, that sound really cool and diferent
god this song is soooooo goooood
Love the guitar solo
I took me a while to realize that this is some kind of Superman cartoon in the Background, you can barely see him turning his head at 3:43
Max Fleischer cartoons are awesome and many have fallen into the public domain like his Superman series. Awesome and free.
You can see it a lot better in this version. ua-cam.com/video/_PtOk_zpTlI/v-deo.htmlsi=UU0Z88nqH6W7nxCi
My friends and I are writing a story and this gives me the greatest animatic idea for it ever holy shit
Great hook? The entire piece plays continuously in my heads.
thumbs up
For all those who aren't just focusing on the aesthetics - you see where others are blind.
Came here for the vibes :D
This feels like a song that has 5M views, youtube is displaying the wrong number
2:39 my favorite part
I want to learn this on guitar so bad, there’s no lessons for it on UA-cam though, so then I’ll have to find it some other way :(
You’ve got this! You can do it and then post the how too :)
Trying to get my classmates to listen to your music :p
It’s a certain type that likes us. If you figure out that type, let us know 😂
Me encantaaaaa
INCREDIBLE

My favorite of the Onyx album
