- This is the original documentary of the life and career of comedienne and actress Patsy Kelly. From Vaudeville to Broadway, Hollywood and television, she was a great all around performer and LGBT Icon who lived openly and came out publicly in 1935.
In 1971, when I was14 years old, I wrote
to Patsy Kelly when she was in the Broadway show no no Nanette. She wrote me back saying if I ever came to New York to see the show to come back stage and see her. She sent me a letter which I showed to the doorman and my parents and I went backstage. She was so nice and pleasant, and acted like she was my grandmother and knew me for years. That was the first of four trips over the next two years that I stopped by to see her. She always remembered my name and couldn’t have been nicer to a little kid!!
Thank you for keeping her memory alive, Queen of the Wisecrack
This is a wonderful tribute to Patsy Kelly I've always loved her and she had a beautiful singing voice you didn't get to hear very often on. Unfortunately the sound on this tape is very bad I don't know if it's the tape itself or my phone but I'm still doing my best to enjoy it I am
I love Patsy Kelly... Topper Returns.. The Gorilla and even Freaky Friday. Pure Gold!
Thank you for this!
Thanks fro making this.... I love her.
Well done. Thank you.
She stands out with terrific comic timing. I love her acting in Topper Returns...She was so funny in that movie 🍿🎥.
An excellent biography. I have always been a fan of Patsy and loved her verbal and physical comedic talents. Fuel for thought: If Desilu hadn't found their goldmine in Vivian Vance, picture Patsy as Ethel Mertz.
Exceptionally informative documentary on the illimitably talented, prolific, Patsy Kelly. And, she came out in 1935(!), refusing to play it safe and live a lie. Trailblazer, and on multiple levels. Patsy was a survivor; she owned herself. The epitome of Courageous. 💜
LMAO @ "Your wife's not dead she's hiding!"
What a life, what a talent, what a show!
I loved knowing more about Patsy Kelly! I admire her for being an out and proud lesbian!
I have always loved Patsy Kelly; thankyou for this tribute
Me too. I am so glad I got to meet her.
God love her....she was wonderful and a very funny lady
Greetings from Brazil!
Where are all these movies today I can't find any of them on the web or maybe a clip here and there who owns them are they public domain if they were they probably be on I would love to see one
She was a kick. I always enjoyed her.
6:35 Shows Zeus Pitts not Patsy Kelly in Asleep in the Feet. Confirmed by IMDB.
I don't care if she did play for the other team, she was still hot when she was young.
Interesting topic, but, dude, you need help with the sound. Levels range all over the place from too loud to WAY too soft, both on your voiceover and the clips.
Everybody hated Frank Fay!
Actually, Patsy spoke fondly of her time with Frankie Fay.
Despite Patsy's kind thoughts about Frank..he was not well liked..due to his becoming violent..when drunk and he was also a Jew hater.
Frank Fay sang "Too many tears"
20:57 But nobody beats Laurel & Hardy. Hilarious....
Her name is LIE-da Roberti, not LEE-da!
We all thank you so much for that correction maybe you can correct us on something else before this is over and will be overwhelmed with your
