I’m definitely looking forward to Minus One more so than New Empire. I’ve always been intrigued by the horror element that comes along with a giant Kaiju attacking a big city.

If this going in the more 'terror' category, then I will be very pleased. I had a talk with my brother a month or two ago about the idea of making a Godzilla film where 'horror' is the main premise. A bit more serious and nerve wracking. Looks like this is going to be fun.
I agree. Shin was the contemporary setting remake. Minus One is the modern remake with the classic setting. Shin had the advantage of using classic touchstones but being able to approach many plot details from new, different, and sometimes unexpected angles. This made it seem very fresh, though firmly rooted in classic lore. It was the kind of Godzilla film I had most always wanted to see, and it delivered beyond expectations. That said, Minus One is my next choice. A remake of the original classic set in the same era as the original but with modern filmmaking techniques sfx and production. From what we have been shown so far, it has enormous potential to truly entertain and delight Godzilla fans. I can't wait to see it.
I always thought that Shin was inspired by the Fukushima disaster in the same way the original Gojira was inspired by the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That they were both based off of different nuclear disasters(for lack of a better term) is a big part of why they're both so good while still being so different.
What a good year for Godzilla fans , One Godzilla movie coming out in 6 months , including one coming out early next year I think , even a series coming out this year legacy of monsters , I like the spikes on this design of Godzilla reminds me of millennium if that’s the one with the purple spikes , what puts me off is his legs are two big , nice video
I'm EQUALLY excited for both *Godzilla Minus One* as well as *Godzilla X Kong The New Empire.* As a lifelong *Godzilla fan* I've been ridiculed & negatively talked-down-to for simply being a *Godzilla fan.* The belittling & ridiculing started from 8 years old through my teens and even partially in my adult years. Now I'm in my 40s and enjoying every *Godzilla* film and other *kaiju* films that are released. It's the sweetest revenge after a lifetime of negative hate toward me for enjoying this stuff. Thus, I can't say I'm more excited for one film over the other. I'm excited and happy for both films to be coming out!
Those who made fun of you are probably fans now. That's what happen with most back then they clowned on you now they wear T Shirts of things you enjoyed and made fun of you back. You were on the right side always and good thing you didn't turn on it. Can't wait.
The Legendary Monsterverse stuff is okay, but I'm a tried and true Toho fan. The teaser for this film looks great. I'm really hoping it delivers on the horror that the director promised. I prefer a serious approach to Godzilla, not one that's goofy and disrespectful to the character. I can't wait to see this film!!
From what I've researched, and heard about Godzilla Minus One is that it's a stand alone movie. It's set in the 1940, and gives us a new origin story. It has nothing to do with Shin Godzilla. I heard it's supposed to be a horror film. I'm a fan of Godzilla, and have been since I was a kid. My favorite movie while growing up was Godzilla 1985. I'm excited for this film, and Godzilla x Kong The New Empire.❤
It does indeed look to be a straight remake of the 1954 original-it's set in postwar Japan in the early '50s, you see the destruction of the tram, there looks to be a flash or two of Odo Island and both the Masaji and Shinkichi characters, a two shot of what looks like Ogata and Dr. Yamane on the battleship (presumably when the Oxygen Destroyer is deployed) and it seems fairly obvious that the woman in the window towards the beginning is Emiko. You even see the partially-destroyed Wako building with its still-intact Hattori clock tower, and a flash of what looks a lot like the radio reporters on the observation deck of the doomed Tokyo Tower as it plummets earthward during Godzilla's second attack. I don't know anything but what I could observe in the official trailer, but it seems pretty clear what Godzilla Minus One is. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Shin Godzilla, the Monsterverse, or anything like that. It looks like it's substantially closer to its source material than Jackson's Kong! I always loved the 1954 original by far the most, and I too am cartoonishly super-stoked about this!
Its hard for to say which im lookking forward to the most since one has destruction and the other fighting and i love both destruction and fighting stuff of godzilla movies its the main reason i watch them
Interesting choice for director. The first Takashi Yamazaki film I saw was "Returner" back in 2002. It was a cool low budget science fiction film. Definitely hamstrung by budget and resources, but fun. I thought at the time that the director had serious promise. His other film prior to that, "Juvenile", was kind of like ET but with a robot. I enjoyed it but it was aimed at an audience much younger than I was. I watched first of his "Always" series, which definitely proves that he has the directing chops for not only a period piece but strong drama. I never saw his Parasyte films, but the body horror effects looked really cool. But I did see his animated Lupin III film, which was pretty cool. I think he could definitely pull this film off very well.
Very happy that M1 G's new design looks so G and not skeletal like Shin. (though the barnacle skin is a tiny hang-up for me) Haven't heard if he'll be in a suit in anyway and the trailer doesn't look framed like he will be. While they'll prob some puppet stuff like Shin for closeups, suits may finally be put to rest if this is the case.
I would love to see a continuity from the Heisei series. However, I would also see a fight between “Junior” (who transformed into a full adult after absorbing his father’s radioactivity) and Destoroyah. That would be one HELL of a fight that would overshadow the “Portal Scene”.
Yeah, same here, I’m glad that they’re going back to the original metaphor of nuclear devastation and war. I’ve really been waiting for a solo Godzilla horror film like the original and Shin.
I think that the project of the 2nd installment of the film was abandoned because it would have ended with the annihilation of humanity. I don't see any other way to end this plot.... And introducing another beast would be a rather stupid solution. I would love to see more evolutions of Shin-Godzilla because I consider this part the second best right after the original.
I love the design of this Godzilla so far. I feel like in the American movies lately, they focus on making him large, but his tiny head is an afterthought.
This looks like just what I want from a Godzilla movie. Godzilla vs us rather than the monster of the week, a Godzilla design very similar to the 1984-90s version and leaning more into horror.
Tbf I think legendary Godzilla fits legendary's story as being a force of nature that wants to keep the status quo, a protector that doesn't really notice that a few puny humans are around. Considering what we saw in Godzilla Vs Kong the Kong species had a civilisation a long time ago and Godzilla kinda won by outlasting them, so even civilisation isn't that is new to him.

I’ve never liked the “Hollywood” version of Godzilla. The original, Shin, and now minus one play more on the horror aspects of the monster which I love but have enjoyed the campy versions as well. Sure nostalgia plays in to it since I first saw Godzilla in the 70’s, those movies really scratched that itch. I get that people enjoy the monster verse but I will always hard pass on them after watching the first Godzilla film, it utterly failed as a monster movie IMO.

Sure nostalgia plays in to it since I first saw Godzilla in the 70’s, those movies really scratched that itch.
I get that people enjoy the monster verse but I will always hard pass on them after watching the first Godzilla film, it utterly failed as a monster movie IMO.
"Fits into" in the real world of Godzilla and his timeline is like "fits into" Captain Harlock. Just enjoy the movies, please everybody, and stop over-thinking it. I mean, there's the merest thread connecting the American and Japanese Godzillas!
If shin Godzilla didn’t have the baby glue on eyeball it would of been so much better
Looking forward
shin godzilla was definitely a 10/10 movie for me, so im expecting that level quality from minus one. Hope they prove me right
Hmmmm swing shin honors vs Minis one goji would be wild
Trailer looks great But physically Shin Godzilla look more terrifying.
It reminds me of Godzilla 1954.
