I knew if I check your site out, you always telling me how to fix it right. I am having that problem right now . Thanks
Appreciate your positive feedback. Hopefully more things come in handy on this channel. Try it out yourself and save that money right
Thank you very, very much diesel dr.
That was exactly what I need it.
That is so easy I will do mine tomorrow.
Thanks again, I will keep watching!
I had a guy explain this method to me a few weeks ago. Glad I saw your video 'cause now it makes sense. Appreciate the knowledge. I liked and subscribed.
Appreciate you watching and your support on this channel. Hopefully more vids on here come to help or Atleast break down the knowledge on repairs needed in the future. Stay safe out there.
Thank bro😮 having same issues right now. Jumping and bouncing. Airbag raise to high
Hello! I have a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia JSJY1055 and I have been watching to try to set my leveling valve. I’m noticing that you said that once you get to 2 3/8 to clock it down and tighten the screws. My measurements per freightliner is 2 5/8 but I believe your video is the same for my truck setup. When I lift my height control valve up if I’m too high my frame goes down…is that correct or should my frame go up when I lift the valve up? Not the linkage but the valve. Then when you say to clock it down, can you further explain what you’re saying? For some reason my setting seems to move and not stay where I’m setting it. I very much need your help with this. I’ve paid out $30k last year because no one was able to find my problem which was left rear motor mount. So because of that so much has been replaced, removed or tweaked trying to find the problem. Thank you in advance.
Is this process good for carhauller peterbilt ?
Wouldn't the rod put it right back where it was before you adjusted anything. Or does the 2 bolts adjust it
@@DR-um2bv great question. Where the two studs are is the actual valve. The valve being adjusted and orientation is the actual adjustment. The rod seems to be in the same place but tiny increments make the difference.
Great video man! This will definitely help many drivers. I have a question, I adjusted my second axle to 2 3/8 but i noticed that my third axle is at least one inch higher. Is that normal? If not how do i make all 4 air bags inflate equally? Thanks for the great videos.
Always appreciate that positive feedback. Can’t do it without support from viewers like yourself.
As for your question that rear most axle will always be higher so the measurement will always be taken on the mid axle only. So if that’s what you measured than your golden. Celebrate with a beer.
Do you pretty much get the chassis frame to line up with the tires ?
thanks buddy I'm going to try this tomorrow, wish me luck
Hi , this works on freightliner cascadia 2012???
Great video my cascadia has very short spring hangers , it's 2 3/8 for all trucks thanks
For the FTL cascadia I believe 2014 and above it’s 2 3/8
For the FTL cascadia I believe 2014 and above it’s 2 3/8
Hello, and thank you for your videos, very informative, when adjusting the air bags, do you make sure the canister fits or just halfway?
When u say adjusting air bags do you mean when installing them or when I’m adjusting ride height. If u mean ride height I just set it to a certain measurement instead of looking at the bag fullness.
Should it be that 2 3/8 when loaded also?
Great question, you set it up when unloaded. When the truck is loaded there to many factors in place that would never get an accurate measurement.
What's the ride hight for a 1996 freightliner? Fld 120?
Damn, that’s a good question. Let me get the last 6 of your vin and get back to you. I’d have to look that up. Would hate to give you an unhonest answer.
Is it will work on western star 5700xe? Or there are different measurements?
I’m pretty sure there diff measurements. I’d have to look those up since I don’t get those very often.
Thank you! Great video I have watched 10 times , what is the right ride height fo a Freightliner Columbia glider 2014 ? The frame is way lower than the tires
The last 6 FX6457
Thanks
How many inches should it be ?
Just found your channel with this leveling hack. Can a 2000 FLD 120 height be adjusted the same way? Also, is there a height adjustment for the cab air bags?
Thanks for watching and reaching out. Yes the fl model can be adjusted the same way. The cab air bags does have an adjustment and I’m pretty sure I have a vid on that one as well.
I just found your channel awesome love it.i have 2006 western star 4900 fa with airliner suspension. I assume it would be the same correct?
Thanks for coming aboard. I’d have to look that one up. I imagine it will be the same. But I can’t say that for certain just yet.
I dont understand.the adjustment is 2 3/8" but the snuff can is 2 9/16. Please dont tell me that 3/16" doesnt matter. On a single screw that is the difference between smooth as silk and your iced tea flying out of the cup holder. For a cheep gauge, cut a thick ziptie 2 3/8 and gauge in the middle of the u bolt and the frame stop.
Accually. 2 3/8 is min. 2 5/8 to 2 7/8 is where you wanna be. According to freightliner
When I mentioned height control valve I’m talking about the valve with the 2 screws. Just wanted to make that clear. Please please help. Also, it seems as though the airbag that’s right under the valve (front right) isn’t extended at the nipple as the left front airbag. What could be the cause of this as well, could it be my leveling valve not sending air equally to all bags?
Is removing the linkage necessary in order to adjust? Because in some videos they leave the linkage attached but only loosen the valve and get the results that way
I've got a volvo, but looks like I have the same linkage type. I need to move my linkage over one hole on my cross bar so have to disconnect the bottom. Does the nut have to be removed to move the linkage or should it slip off like you did this one and I just move the stud with the nut on it where I need it?
Great question and thanks for reaching out. You should be able to loosen the actual valve and raise or lower it to what you need than just tighten the bolts. This came be done without removing the linkage to make it easier. Hope that helps.
Hi does the truck need to be on continuously supplying air?
And brakes released also?
Also seen it's double pinned the first pin before you start lowering it does it go on the top hole?
I am soo fucked
Brother, thanks for your videos. Very helpful. On this one I am a little confused. You said that the distance has to be 2 3/8, but the snuff can measured at 2 1/2 or 2 5/8. Am I missing something??
If you can fit that snuff can it’ll be perfect. The measurement needed is 2 3/8 so as close as you can get up that. Close is good enough.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 Got it.
Thanks for the reply!
You are saying 2 - 3/8". That Cope can is measuring 2 - 9/16". Is there a window of measurements that's acceptable? Thank You for the video!
There is an acceptable range and 3/8 to 9-16 if so close I wouldnt worry to much about the difference. As long as your close your good to go.
Will your truck shake if this is off n have bad tire ware
Definitely will.
I have an 88 Freightliner Cabover that wants to shake itself to pieces over 50 MPH. Would this fix the problem? I've heard this is an issue with Freightliners. I watched another video where a guy recommended lengthening that linkage rod by 3/8 of an inch to fix the problem but I dunno if I trust that.
Thanks for reaching out. I would say the problem here is you have an 88. I’m sure that thing needs some major love but hats off to you for keeping it running. Suspension height will affect stability and bounce issues and ya id prob inspect that but Deff not stop there. I have a lot of other videos about vibrations. Everything suspension related should be checked. Including checking the balence of those tires. I know this doesn’t help much but keep it simple and check every suspension component first than move on to carrier bearing or driveline, than sus height, than tires. I know you’ll find your issue, or many more along the way. Stay safe and stay grinding out there.
I have an 03 columbia. My second axle is at 2 inches but my third axel is way high how can that be fixed?
The ride height is a bit diff on the columbias. I’d have to look up the specs for that one.
Should the front shackles height match the back shackle height
They will not be the same height. Take the reading from the front axle.
Does the size tire matter for 2 3/8 measurement? I have 11r 22.5
Great question, unless you have some crazy size tire it will be the same measurements
Busted knuckle on my freightliner my leveling valve does not sit level is that ok it sits pointing upward about a 45 angle
Good question. If it were sitting at an angle than it should either be filling or emptying the suspension. When level it will be sitting pretty close to straight across.
I have freightliner classic 2003 and have a really bad feeling about the suspension. I spent a lot of money on it but have any change. The third third and steering axle are working bad. What is your advice about it? Thanks for advance
Thanks for reaching out. What are the exact issues your feeling and what have you had done.
What’s your opinion on DIY High pressure line gasket on dd15
Not sure what you mean. Which high pressure line and how would you DIY it.
Is that go on freightliner 1999 century 2????
Pretty close. A cascadia but close enough right.
So where exactly did you put the drill bit
Which I could of shown the backside of the valve. There is a hole on the lever arm and the valve itself. The pin goes through both of them to be aligned. I’m glad you asked. Hope others read this.
👍👍👍👍, thanks
Nice.
How do you do the Front air ride adjustments? Can you make a video about that?
I don’t get many of the front air ride units at my location. But next one I come across il make sure to run the leveling procedure on it.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 thank you.
@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 Do you have measurements for the cab?
Many thanks man
Hi. Thank you for video. Before leveling needs drop trailer?
Yes sir. Take the weight off first.
So you said tires have to be flat with top of the frame? Would that be the case in new tires also vs. old and it the tires are 24.5? My tires are well above frame
Good question, whether new or old tires they would still be the same reading. The frame should be siting at tire height for reference. The valves goal is to maintain that specific height.
Busted knuckle by diesel dr I just measured the height rear axle is 3 inches front of is 4 inches. How do you explain that? Which axle should I take as a reference
@@Vertikala-pc5ig your axles will not be the same measurement. I’m pretty sure I say I’m the video to only take your measurements from the #2 axle (drive axle) on the truck.
Thanks the best video on this subject.
i tried that, but the 2 passenger side air bags inflates more than the 2 driver side so its higher on the passenger side, any idea why, thanks
Thanks for watching and reaching out. You have a unique case and it could be cause by a few different issues. Your frame could be tweaked/// your springs might be replaced on one side and not the other///misaligned air bags on there bases// unequal air flow to one side. Once you narrow it down it will be an easy fix. Hope that helps you out.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 i guess ill replace the leveling valve first, thanks for the reply
This leveling valve became a complete pain I’ve adjusted several times and the rear bags keep inflating to the max height while the front is staying where it needs to be this is with a new levering valve . Any suggestions would be helpful
Just go slow and in small increments would be my best advise. It can be a real pain. But remember your only taking the measurements from the drive axle not the 3rd axle
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 10/4 so I’m possibly rushing it
@@bennyhall2790 maybe or the 2nd axle is fine and the 3rd axle your just worried about.
Hi, it sounds like you may have something else going on with how the valve was adjusted. I'd like to know if you eventually found out the issue?
Will this method work with 24in low pros on cascadia ?
24s. Is that it. You know it doesn’t look right unless it’s 32s or bigger.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 😑
Does the truck need to have the brakes released?
Great question. Thanks for chiming in. Hope I addressed that in the video. Chock blocks down so the truck doesn’t move around to much and park brake released.
Appreciate the quick response.
So I did exactly this and it rode great until I got unloaded and it did not go back to same measurements. Any ideas?
@@CrodDc5 great question, if it fails to maintain the proper height I would be leaning towards a crappy height valve. As long as the linkage and arm are in good shape with no bends. Try it a second time and if it continues to fail than replace the heigh control valve.
Yeah this one is only like 2 months old and can't get it dialed in. As soon as I switch loads it rides roug. Almost feels like the rear drive axle is stiff.
I have a 2016 Cascadia and I do have problem with losing control and this problem has been for two weeks with me and I went to more than 10 shops and they didn’t know how to fix it even the dealer he didn’t know and all of them charge me a lot of money so can you give me your address or your number so I can get you
Thank you for reaching out I always appreciate hearing from you guys. Sorry to hear about your issue. I don’t have my own shop just yet but maybe when I build my channel that may just happen. Can you describe your losing control on your truck issue.
Hi I have I bad noise hearings and I have I vibrations on my front tire and the truck is moves lake a snake
is it normal that the rear axle is higher? im asking because i have 2” front and 4” in the back.
Good question , yes the rear will normally be higher than the front axle. Could change slightly depending on age and weight. But as long as the front is good and you only have one suspension valve than no worries.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 thank you .
Hi what year is this truck ma man ? 2x3.8 on 2017 same high?
I can’t remember as this was many many moons ago. But p3 and p4 platform use the same height specs. So for a 2017 you should be good to go with that one. Hope you get it dialed in.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 ma man thanks a lot for responding i dropped to 3x1,4 I yesterday I got a lit bit heavy load and still my rear drive axle shaking in about 66,67,68,69 Mile and as soon it’s get to 70,71,72,75 it’s just stop shaking or vibrating and today I got a 16k weitgh on my trailer and it’s drive so smooth after I stoped and measured with a loaded trailer i went under I check it out it’s was at 3 inch exact we’ll probably I’m thinking to set them up by 3x1,2 when I get heavy loads it’s any ways goes down to be on 3 Inch as you said probably goes smooth again what do you think abt all this info ? Thanks a lot ma man
You know brother the story I had with my radiator cracked and my truck got towed with a loaded trailer after that this problem pops out right afte exact 2 days when I drive bobtail I don’t feel anything even with a empty trailer as soon I got a lit bit heavy loads it’s start shaking vibrating on my rear drive axle and my passenger sit shaking also but I don’t feel any shaking on my steering
My Air bags keep blowing up
I'm going to try this
Thanks
On a inclined dock ramp, after unloading my rear drive axles will elevate, leaving me without traction. What's that problem from, Sir?
Great question. Many people run into similar issues. I believe the main problem is design. Without all that weight on the backend traction will automatically go away just as regular pickups fishtail around most corners. Trucks need weight. There are feature that help such as. Load transfer and diff lock. Both do great in different ways. I’m sure your truck came with a diff lock to lock in traction so I’d utilize that. But some newer units have load transfer where air pressure in the air bags are used to reflect a heavy load to gain traction. Hope that clears things up and thanks for watching.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 My plane Jane 15' Cascadia has no splitter or locks. Sometimes I have to bobtail of the trailer and drive around for 5 minutes then rebook and cross my fingers, Sometimes the forklift drivers give me a nudge.
@@ThatOneGuy-hp2pb well if you plan on keeping it than I recommend adding a locker
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 okay, thanks!
@@ThatOneGuy-hp2pb did you fixed you problem or found the reason? I have the same issue currently
Just checked mine, it’s over 3”.
Will too high also cause vibration?
Good question. 3 inches is fine. Tell her that’s normal. I mean how much more does she really need.
As far as the suspension height, 3 is fine. But to high or to lo low and you mess the the driveline angle which will cause extra vibrations. You need that perfect relation between sus bag fullness and driveline pinion angle. Hope that helps clear some things up.

My freightliner feels like the engine is missing really bad but everything has checked out. It feels like its in the rear end or transmission, ideas of where I should check next?
Thanks for reaching out man. Without looking at it or listening to it,,it would be so difficult to diagnose. If it sounds like and engine miss than that would be a great place to dive in. Could be weak cylinder or bad injector. Really would need to have it sent into a reputable shop.
Thanks for the reply man, yeah I've had it in the shop and they replaces the wiring harnesses and said the injectors was fine. I think I may try replacing the boost sensor next. But I don't have a check engine light or any codes coming up
@@BeardnSon figure out your issue? I've had this leveling problem for 2 years now with those exact symptoms and spend thousands of dollars and still no diagnosis. Starting to attack braking system.
Is the measurement the same on the 3rd axle?
Only check it on the d/s 2nd axle for most accurate measurement. If there is two suspension valves the procedure changes a little bit.

I have a 99 freightliner century class and I tried that method and it's still riding rough and now my abs light keeps coming on. This ride is unbearable
@@klco74 thank you for reaching out. Always like hearing from my audience. 99 FTL will ride rough. They are known as freight shakers. Best thing to have done is replace shocks with nitrogen charged if you can find them and have all springs and bags inspected for any issues. There are so many components that will cause a rough ride like wheel bearings , out of balence tires, driveline, motor mounts, cab mounts. She would need the full inspection and being a 99 unfortunately it may be very $$ to get it all done. Hope that helps

And where
