SUCH DARK MAGIC GENERATING SUCH VIABLE VIBRATIONS WITH SUCH A VISIONARY GROUP......
you got it man, I just asked my wife who the lead singer could be compared to. And we both totally agreed on Jim Morrison.
Hooray for the Sid Barret inspiration! The singer also has a Grace Slick/Jim Morrison sound to him.
one of the best bands of the decade.
I think a lot of us have already felt it.
Great band!! And the voice recalls a bit of Jim Morrison and a bit of the singer of Red Temple Spirits...
Wow..I'm so wrong! After watching interviews of Alex he's absolutely awesome and grounded. These guys have such a great future coming ahead!!
wow great band i dont hear newer stuff like this much
The black angels guarantee a top-class live performance.
That Fable 3 trailer brought me here. I just discovered this band and my God what a band indeed. The stark, the ugly, the absolute beautiful laments being done by this band are unlike anything I've heard since The Doors. Pure genius.
I love this band. They're sound sort of reminds me of Joy Division. So glad I found them.
I'm really glad to finally hear a band these days that hasn't ignored one of the greatest injustices in world history! These guys rock!
I went to school with this guy LOL... What a trip Go Alex
can't stop coming back to this amazing live version of this kick ass fkn song must have watched this video 200 times easy
Why have I not heard of The Black Angels? This stuff is excellent.
This band is amazingly great!
Being the ripe old age of 53 the Doors connection was immediate.
Ah history repeats.
I love it .
I saw them opening for Queens Of The Stone Age at the Rave in Milwaukee. They grabbed me, I got the album quickly after that. Have to say, I enjoy them. Find their sound quite unique. A buddy of mine says the singer and the band sound like a dark-drony version of the Doors.
Man nice Doors style and yet unique and stands on its own. Good job guys!
i just discovered this band i like their sound i generally like garage band sounds like the black keys. but these guys are really good they sound old school i like it.
I love this band.
best song by them, I cann ever get tired of it!
absolutely amazing live.
love this band
Loving the Doors influences in this band...
i saw them live @ pukkelpop 09 , they were awesome!
I think these guys rock!! I feel a little Led Zeolin at the begining. A lot of Doors and a smidgen of Hendrix and a pepper of long lost story telling in music. If you asked me, I would say I am happy to be tuned in to this band. Thank you for the music. Let's not clutter this board with debates and insuls. lets just be cool. Awesome show!! Great job!!!
Thanks idiotaxiom. Just started with a shared click from a musical friend. Now I like it to.
Decent band? Are you joking? They're AMAZING, the best band out there, in my opinion and Alex doesn't try to be like Jim Morrison, he just sounds like him but he has his own style and charisma. He's a mindblowing performer!
@SunshineInWoods Black Angel is from LA. Black Angels with an S is from Austin,Texas.
a post-punk psychedelic version of Doors...i adore them!
Saw these guys on Letterman last night and I am now a fan, I only wish I had heard of this group years ago. They vocals make think of The Doors but the music really reminds me of early early Floyd, two groups which I have been a fan of for years.
great stuff!
yea no wonder i had to check them out. It sounds exactly like them. real nice call!!!
Why do people need to argue? Can't we all just spark up a bowl and enjoy the music?
Now, if it had been called ''Sniper at the Gates of Dawn''...Boy, I should be in a band.
very 60's, such a great track.
It should be said again... I love Alex Maas! And The Black Angels are the a gulity pleasure of mine.
i saw these guys supporting wolfmother in dublin they were kickass like a heavier pink floyd !!
hope they come again
It's like a mix of the Doors, Jefferson Airplane and Velvet Underground.
Hell of a live band. I love Wolfmother and when I saw at the Concert Black Angels, they almost topped Wolfmother!
this is sooooo good...!!!
Totally brilliant.. Dig the drone
Reminds me of a mix between The Doors & Queens of the stone age = Good stuff
If you like this your gonna love MAX PAIN AND THE GROOVIES
i would think JIm Morrison would like this band
Who the fuck could dislike this?
God I want to be able to play guitar like this!
This band found the magic formula and will now take over the world.
I love Alex Maas! And honestly, he does sound like Jim... but I don't think he is trying to sound like him. Alex's voice is one of those that comes around only every now and then. Very talented band! Can't wait for them to come to L.A again.
Holly shit..
PERFECT BAND!
@broodthefire you are so right, when heard the lead singers voice the first person I thought of was Jim Morrison.
thats class. its like listening to the doors in a way
actually no, but "young men dead" was.
i loove this band. they are absolutely amazing live, sooo soo soooo good live. they sound exactly like on their records (if not better)
and the vocalist has a really cool tone to his voice. i love how the guitar has such a subtle line, but takes such a powerful position amongst the rest of the instruments
i just found my new favorite band. the doors in modern day
I like this a lot!
@DonJelopy They are very much a band. There from Austin,Texas. There is also a band called Black Angel in California. Angels has a S in there name. Black Angels have a new cd coming out in Sept. They are also in a kinda alt country type band called Ghost Songs. They have there Doctor Napalm song video on here.
@chaosnewterer It's the voice. Sounds pretty Jim Morrison, especially with the rambling sort of jam format of the song. Go check out "The End." Pretty reminiscent. They do have their own thing going though, especially for their time.
best band ever
you hit it right on the head Willy! can hear em all
dark, sexy, badass. I really want to see live.
Helemaal top
Atmospheric.
@334honda It was ironic, that is the opening phrase for The Doors concerts. I was suggesting a resemblance ;)
You are right Sir!
Happy to see Jennifer Raines here 🖤👍
I'm actually older than that. Add about ten years to that.
I do like metal, but I listen to more than just that.
lol my search for "at the gates" brought me to this; not what I expected, but good song
Jim Morrison's voice is deeper, oh whooo? many singers do those sounds, I've listened to every doors' records and it doesn't sound like this so far! I love the black angels anyway, such a great band.
yes i agree! i think they are fun !
I clicked on it because I was searching a Pantera song. This happened to come up and I watched it because the title sounded interesting.
@kema2hannah They are also doing Alt country with Stephanie Hunt in a band called Ghost Songs. They played at the last SXSW festival. Its thought she will be Lisbeth in the Dragon Tattoo movie. I think that will get them some exposure also if true.
@DanDoesThat its like a jim morrison brought back to life in another body its freaky but awesome
Thinking the same here.
this song just makes me more awake.
We know doors jimmi and the janis,,, this is listen and relax ... Feel the groove
@DanDoesThat The lead singer could/should do a tour with the doors, they would sound amazing.
Like this alot.
It does remind me of the bands mentioned in the highest rated comment, which are some of my favorites. From the songs ive listened to, this sound is a bit more psychedelic-ish. Good though.
If they wanted to be the Doors the vocalist would need to down a fifth of whiskey and at least one other band member would need to be on something.
The Doors wouldn't even be themselves without at least those munitions.
@xerxerxex =)
I will say this. That you mentioned This Will Destroy You proved your taste in music is 70% better than half the people who've posted on this video.
@slye1991 I'm getting Door's vibrations from the whole sound in general
Hell Yeah!
hey you guys never got back to me don shearer the painting of the black angels you recieve3d at bonnaroo was mine .i want to come see the festival in austin get back
Where are the band members who would be in their late 60's by now??? This song came out around 1966, or at least it appears in the movie "Tower" which is about the Texas Tower sniper in 1966.
A definite Doors vibe, awesome
check their myspace, they list the Doors as an influence as well.
@xerxerxex
What happened to Pelican? Not into sludge too?
@broodthefire you are like more than right
@slye1991 Absolutely. That's why I love this TBA.
so many black angels songs make me wanna goto Nam
Absolute dirt. Love it.
@DanDoesThat .
aah dude i was thinking the last couple videos i saw..
JIM!?(:
The Doors of our time.
Also saw them with Wolfmother in Hamburg.I said all the concert super music but in the hall a lousy sound.Black Angels think about it.
The best...the Doors, but different. Good, good stuff..
That's good acid!
@MrJesuschrist51
oke but..... why ist it then that thr 1st thing that pops in the head???? (my head)
must be the music...........
@wooboy11 The ressemblance is in the kind of screams he makes. Morrisonesque.
i beg you, someone give me the lyrics of this song...please!!!
Yea just one more word about this tune...isnt there a floyd song named "piper at the gates of dawn"? Anyway, these guys rock. Come to Phx!
@slye1991
YES! my sister's boyfriend loves the black angels...they're going to see them friday and want me to come too, so i decided to check them out and that was the first thing i thought!
