It's a big project but I think it will go well. I am su much better equipped now than the first time I did a full restoration 45 years ago. It was a TR4.

@@ejhbritishcars6907 I like to stick mainly to MGBs, MGCs but I have done some Spitfires. Finding parts and rust are usually the main challenges. Especially now that British Victoria has now been purchased by Moss Motors. Moss now charges what ever they want with no major competitor.

The Roadster Factory in Pennsylvania is still around and there are a lot of vendors in the UK
I found that it is faster getting stuff from the UK than fron the East coast here in California.

looks pretty much like my 56' tr3! I spent 10 years of restauration...but it's possible! and please crossweld the inside before separating body and frame! good luck with it!

Hi, got my first car in hand - a 55 TR2 - built in 54 - will be getting back to it after close to 40 years - I'll be following you as I start my journey - can't wait!

Good luck with your restoration. Fortunately TR's are well supported so replacement parts are pretty easy to find. Additionally the USD/GP exchange rate is quite low right now so parts are relatively inexpensive.

I'll be watching! I've got a TR4 project of my own waiting in the wings and I enjoy seeing these old roadsters get back on the road. That original hard top is probably worth a fortune. I have one set aside for my car, recently looked and was shocked how much they sell for these days.
You mentioned having a TR4? gearbox with OD... Hopefully that'll work. It will give you a 1st gear synchro. Isn't the starter different though?

The hardtop is a fiberglass unit that the dealer onstalled on my friends TR2 when he bought it brand new in Chicago. I expect that it is an aftermarket one as all the info I have seen was that the factory ones are steel.
The transmission is from an early TR6 with an A type OD unit. It has syncro in all 5 gears.
The TR2 starter is different, but I have the parts to put a later type in.

TR2 had doors that went all the way down.

The early "Long Door" cars had doors that covered the rocker panels. They were so low that the door would not open when parked next to the curb. My TR2 is a later car with the shorter doors.

Other than Overdrive mine seems to be fairly unaccessorized.
