    Thank you. That was a fantastic review and really helpful. We will be flying this flight from Toronto to and from Hong Kong later in the year. I think overall it looks great and what we paid for. I flew Qatar Q suites a couple of years back and my headrest was broken and the seat never went completely flat so these things can happen even on the top rated airlines.

    Sorry for the judgemental comment! I didn’t really go through the whole video and it’s certainly nothing personal, but after watching from @19:13…🙏🏻 i think one of the reasons that we have low morale is because we’re getting paid almost 50% less and the company still expects us to do 150%. And our passengers have such a high expectation for us because of the former us. That really stresses us out. Like what you mentioned in the video, we aren’t being extremely friendly because we are tired and we are sick of the company lying and exploiting us, but then again i really do think there’s a reason for those who stay. I am really truly content to see my passengers smile, even though i am exhausted and not happy working for this company. YOU are the motivation that keeps us going. I like when seeing my passengers happy even when things happen. I like when they credit my hard work, my preparation as I’m telling you I remember every single name in business class, at least in my responsible aisle. It may not be MR jackfreksondave but Jack will do! I love when hearing my passengers say thank you instead of taking everything for granted that we’re their servant, technically we’re, but you know what i mean. It makes me so happy serving people. That’s why i stayed.

      Thank you for the background and sorry to hear that the company does not seem to value the hard work you put in. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the crew as I know they need to handle a lot. You are there first and foremost there to keep us safe for which I am grateful for and occasionally yes you provide us with beverages and meals for which I also appreciate.
      I think most long term Cathay customers recognize that the staff that do remain are overworked but are trying their best.
      Hopefully Cathay recognizes that the strength is in the people and are able get back on track. Just know that there are customers that do care and want nothing more than to see happy employees who are being treated fairly and well.

    we flew Cathay Business from Hong Kong to NYC and the service was not the best. The attendants were not attentive. Needed to press the button to get any service for wine or food. The trip from NYC to Hong Kong was great, the attendants were very hospitable providing service with a smile.

    I flew business class on CX last month BKK-HKG-SFO and while everything was good, it didn't quite compare to my flight on Singapore Airlines last year. On the long-haul HKG-SFO leg, I did not get the dinner courses served as you did. Mine was served crammed on one tray with appetizer, main course, and three drinks. Dessert followed separately, however. And I didn't find the movie selection as good as SQ. But I used 85K points also so the flight was satisfactory.

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  19 днів тому +1

      Interesting, sounds like Cathay needs to work on their consistency when it comes on how the dinner courses are served. And definitely agree that Singapore Airlines is top notch. Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience on Cathay🙏

    I’ve only been with them once in business class, I had a very enjoyable flight, From LAX to Bangkok layover in Hong Kong, I got a solid 7 1/2 hour sleep on the first flight and 3 1/2 on the second, what I really enjoyed was a hamburger and fries for a snack, usually fly ANA business class to Thailand lol because I can’t find any flights with Cathay Pacific, But I would surely fly with them again

    has anyone feel CX cabin crew are stingy ? I request to have more meal but they refuse or say they don’t have it ….but I’m still hungry it was not like that before in business class

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  25 днів тому

      I haven’t tried asking for extra meal before so I can’t really say. I normally order off the snack menu if I’m still hungry because I like to try lots of different things. But I think normally airlines don’t carry that many extra meals? Maybe someone else can confirm

    Glad that CX took action against staff who look down on people who are not fluent in English. They arent the only ones ... Just that they were caught and fired. Please keep your disdain to yourself and act professionally while working is all I have to say ....

      I agree completely. That type of behaviour is completely unacceptable. I also find it strange that people who work in a travel related industry to not understand that they will naturally be encountering people who speak all different languages. They need to be professional and courteous always

      Hi! I did mention near the end I used 85k Asia miles for the flight. Although since I’ve taken this flight Cathay has changed their point structure and it would now cost 110K Asia Miles. Thanks for watching 🙏

    Cathay is still one of the best. It didn't get higher because some airlines paid to be high on the Skytrax ranking.

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  13 днів тому +1

      While I agree that skytrax isn’t necessarily the most trustworthy source I don’t necessarily think Cathay has kept up to pace with other 5 star airlines like Emirates, Etihad, ANA, Singapore Airlines just to name a few. I hope with the release of the Aria suites it will help bring them back as a top contender as Cathay has always been a favourite of mine actually. They’re just not there at the moment unfortunately

    I have noticed that there are quite a few Indian youtubers who aspire to be flight attendants and have created channels talking about recruitment and interview strategies for different airlines. It appears that Cathay Pacific is currently in the process of hiring flight attendants from India to be based in Hong Kong. On your flights, have you noticed an increased amount of Indian crew?

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  26 днів тому

      I can’t say I’ve noticed an uptick in Indian crew specifically. Of the Cathay flights I’ve taken they seem to be mostly from Hong Kong. But I’m sure maybe it could differ based on route amongst many other factors

    I really hope it will turn things around soon regarding staffing, however the exsiting situation is they are continue hiring non local crew south East Asia with housing allowance with pay up to higher then a local Senior Purser meanwhile the local crew still suviring with low income and benifit cut. from salary as low as 9700 hkd per month for a junior crew which is totaly unacceptable let aside with the minmum rest and lack of manpower

    I disagree with your assessment of Cathay. I have flown with them over the last 4 years long haul and they have improved dramatically to deservedly maintain their 5 star status.
    If they are not good enough for you, who will you fly with that is better on price, service, product and enjoyment?

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  17 днів тому +1

      I never said they weren’t good enough for me. I just don’t think they are as good as they used to be. As for who I would fly with that is better in price, service, product, and enjoyment it would be all the airlines I listed in the video. For example I could fly in ANA’s the Room for a similar cost to what this flight cost. And ANA the Room’s seat is infinitely better than Cathay’s current product. Also like I said in the video Cathay has always actually been a favorite of mine and I hope to see them raise their standards to what they used to be. Hopefully that will happen once they release the Aria Suites and sort out their staffing issues.
      Thanks for watching though !

    Are you using asian miles?😂 as crew this is one type of passenger we hate the most…they eat everything and get everything just to make their money worth. Real business class passengers don’t eat that much as they have done the lounge before getting on a flight! Aeroplane food is super super unhealthy 😂 nowadays people Flying 16 hours they don’t even bother walking into the galley and ask for the thing they need. Do they even know the attendant call light is supposed to be used for emergency? I bet they don’t. If you’re stuck in the middle or in the window I understand. Those who are in the aisle or next to the galley, I don’t know what they are thinking. Can’t they walk? If not what are their feet for. They have no idea how much walking it involves working on a flight. No enough rest, low salary. Too much workload and not having enough manpower. CX is becoming a budget airline now. So don’t expect much, not anymore!

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  9 днів тому +2

      Simon, I would suggest you delete this comment because as an employee you probably should not be publicly saying online that you despise customers who use points and stereotype them as the types that just want to get their money worth and how they are not “real” business class customers. It’s comments like this and about carpets that got your company in hot water earlier this year.
      As someone who has flown with Cathay for over 20 years prior to the pandemic what do you suggest I do with my points? Should I let them collect dust in my account and not redeem them ? What is the point of customers flying with an airline and being given points if we aren’t supposed to use them because that’s not what “real” business class people do? It’s a little callous of you to say
      And maybe consider people enjoy trying food on planes because they are foodies and like to try a variety of foods as opposed to “getting moneys worth”. One of the main reasons I chose this route was because I was curious to try the Duddell’s menu and to see whether Michelin quality could really be executed on a plane.
      And I have never pressed the flight attendant lights ever in over 20+ years of flying

    I disagree CX was once a top airline. Even in the 1990s, CX was almost the last decent airline to install personal TVs in every long-haul Economy seat (Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and a few others were years ahead of them). They were very late in introducing flat beds in business class. Many airlines (even BA) already had them by 2002/2003 and CX left it till 2005 to introduce angled flat beds. Then the herringbone business class seats were a disaster, until the current ones came along. Again, the seats came a few years' behind competition. I still don't get how people kept saying back then that CX was the greatest airline around. It just never was. It was decent, but it was never the top back then. Today, CX is the same. It is decent but not the top. I continue to fly them but I just don't agree with how people say CX used to set the standards.

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  22 дні тому +2

      It was considered to be top tier by many. Now whether or not that it is true or if you agree can be subjective based on many factors of course. I do agree that they are just ok right now though. Hopefully with the release of the new Aria suites it will help them move in the right direction along with getting their staffing issues sorted. Thanks for watching

    • @wowpeter
      @wowpeter 16 днів тому +1

      Although Virgin and EK might have install PTV earlier. CX is actually the first airline to have PTV across their whole fleet in the 1990s.
      With regards to the flat bed seat, this is also once again, the case, CX might be late for the game, but CX is one of the first to have it install across the whole fleet. If you look at Virgin or EK, or even nowadays Qatar with their Q Suite, you still see seats from different generation… one thing that CX is very good at doing is that once they make a decision for their cabin renovation, CX tends to push them out across their whole fleet within a few years to ensure product consistency. This is really what distinguished CX to other carriers.
      When you fly other carriers, you often don’t know what you are going to get because they have so many product from so many generations (look at BA, EK, Qatar, JAL, ANA, Qantas, Delta, UA, AA), you almost don’t know what to expect. Not at CX.

    • @allons.y

      It was ranked by the Skytrax for many years before amongst the top airlines. I think it is the total services, not just the seat itself, the entertainment systems, the food and drinks, the lounges, etc. Certainly they needs to improve to keep up with the current top airlines like Qatar, Singapore airlines, Emirates.

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y  12 днів тому +1

      Oh yes I agree the rankings encompass the entire experience from ground to air. I do think Cathay continues to do well with their food and the lounges are still some of the most well appointed. I feel like their biggest hurdles at the moment though are the dated seats and of course struggles in staffing (which can affect service). Hopefully with the release of the new Aria suites and working through staffing will help to push them back in the right direction. But definitely it’s the all round experience
