Really great points, Jeven! One of the biggest mistakes I made on my channel was saying 'YES' to pretty much everyone who wanted me to review their product or collaborate. Last year, I changed that approach, and it had a significantly positive impact on my channel. Cheers, and happy new year!
My word for the year is "Intention" I want to go forward with a clear intention for each video an channel decision as opposed to letting the self imposed need to meet an upload schedule force me into making somewhat random videos just to get something out.
Genuine !! That's my word. Just be myself in my videos. The more "yourself" you are, the more comfortable on camera you will be. And the folks that watch will have more trust and appreciation for the content.
Great video Jevon, Speaking of being overwhelmed I started this video while dealing with an anxiety attack and remembered why I started making content was because it helps calm my anxiety with the structure. Can’t wait to see what you do this year!
I think you really hit on some major issues creators face. I learned some of these things before I decided to start youtube. And lesson #3 is really why I started UA-cam. I think knowing your North Star is key.
A wonderful set of tips. The point about being busy really resonated. Your channel was one of the first I came across when I started UA-cam and was an absolutely brilliant source of advice. Thank you.
This is a great video, it's nuts I recently went w2 and I feel like I have more balance in life. They give me the freedom to set my own schedule and I actually feel like I can schedule time for these videos where before, as a full time freelance business owner I felt like I was working 24/7 and could not turn it off. If I did I felt like my business would die. If I wasn't working, I was networking and marketing. No breaks. I'd never have time to plan my videos because I'd be so damn distracted, and with full blown ADD, I have to play into my strengths and be aware of my weakness. What I'm getting at is, it feels good to be able to turn off my photography job and focus on my youtube. The fact is, I really enjoy it and it is like therapy for me, it just feels good. Hope to see you out there soon.
Sound lessons! This year i also want to make those videos that i had ideas for ages ago and never got around to. My word for the year is COMPLETION. I start a lot of things but don't always finish. This year i will focus on finishing things.
Inspire. thats my word for 2024. I am getting ready to launch our channel and ive been a member of your channel as i started to research becoming a content creator. You've become recommended listening and watching to me and my small team. From which camera to choose to how to create and really how to inspire. So we hope to pass that forward in our own small way. Thank you and wishing you a healthy and safe 2024.
Happy New Year, Jeven, and have my best wishes for the 2024. My word for the next year will be: enjoyment. There will always be things and parts of the process we don't really enjoy doing but we'll have to do them. The important thing is to manage the good and the not so good parts so we never loose the enjoyment of creating. We lose the enjoyment and everything comes to naught.
Great insights, thank you! My word for 2024 is the same as your #9: simplify. As I was downing 50 billion different supplements, lathering on 20 million skin treatments, endlessly worrying about how to post different content on different platforms...I stopped and asked, "WHAT AM I DOING?" So here's to a simpler 2024!
My word will be, “consistent.” Making videos on a regular basis, seeing how I am new to this. Well, not really new, but I haven’t been consistent. I'll make a lot of videos, they don’t gain immediate results, so I put my ideas on back burner and procrastinate. But, there's a good chance if I kept moving forward my videos would have gained traction. I am in the greatest city in the world for videos…New York! I will utilize my surroundings and create. The only way that will happen is by being consistent. Even if it’s a short throwaway video… making something is better than nothing.
Great video Jeven. My word for 2024 is going to be Contribution. I plan to give as much value as possible this year, in a smart, rewarding and sustainable way.
Great content as always. KISS.. always has been my word. I always have the tendency to over think and analyze everything. Sometimes stepping back and keeping it simple makes it happen.
Great video and really helpful in helping me refocus on what I really want to do with my content in 2024. I definitely fall into the trap of saying yes, to too many things, and then get overwhelmed and basically shut down and don’t get hardly anything done, which creates even more stress in the long run. I look forward to what you do in 24 and thanks again and congrats on this channels success.
I luv these year end videos. Thanks for sharing. I do need to come up with some goals for the new year. At least I finally have found my niche in my various channels.
Hello Jeven. Thank you for your insightful and thought-provoking video on how to be a successful creator in 2024. I wish you and your family a happy, safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
From one perspective, create the best content and do it for you. Take ownership of what you're creating, you've got to become an artist before you become a star. Create as if it were for you.
I came to you because I'm thinking about branching out into content creation. That said, I've been running my own business for the last 9 years and Point 8 is extremely valid. Many of these points are applicable to a huge range of people, not just content creators. Great advice! 😊 🤙
Thanks for sharing those very valuable experiences and lessons learned. Most important, you are always reflecting what you're doing and set new goals! Well done!!
I was thinking my word for 2024 GROW but what i need to do is CLEAN UP lol I have sooo many products around the garage, and house and backyard, thats money also will help me focus on more important stuff instead of being distracted
Another great video & as a big fan of yours for over a year never miss a video. I come @ this from a different perspective, however. My New Year’s resolution is to limit my video watch time & put whatever device I’m on down or turn off. I’m unsubscribing from a lot of the creators I’ve been following. (Yours is not one of them as I throughly enjoy your channel) but as your video emphasizes ….this year’s new word is “simplifying”especially w/my time. Being more selective on those creators I spend my time with. So,Happy New Year & keep up the great work & look forward to your next video. 😎
Saying that a poor performance video is one with 9k views, when most of my videos have less than 1k is really depressing. Your advice is very on point, however. Hope a lot of people could benefit from it. Best wishes!
Notion and Milanote are really good for note organization. And focus on digging deep and finding your target audience. And then all the video ideas will follow ! 11:50
I find milanote good if I need to visualize a specific project but I don't use it very often so I'll probably scrap it. Notion works great for everything but todo lists. I've built a whole 2nd brain on Notion, but the todo lists never work quite right for my workflow. I think I'm going to use a combo of Notion, Things 3 & apple Notes for my organization
@@JevenDovey using the apple notes is a smart touch! I use milanote to visually categorize all of my random video idea notes from todoist. From there I able to visually see potential content buckets/pillars forming and create a board for each one on Milanote. Inside the board I drop all the ideas that fit into that bucket and start add potential pictures/ story boarding different formats/videos to reference for that specific pillar of my channel.
Notion and others similars weren’t doing it for me because I didn’t like how I can just dump everything I want to include to the sort out later (well at least not in the way I would want to). Hope this kinda helps. Love your content 🫶🏻
Great points and i love your videos. They are always insightful. Im definitely going to get more on a schedule since my UA-cam is growing and i finally got monetized. Im honestly excited for 2024!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and professional advice, iv learned a lot from watching your channel. May you be blessed with much more success in the upcoming new year 👍
Great comment on shorts. I hate them personally. Mostly cheap garbage. Just because you can kick them out quick, doesn't mean they can lack quality in both content and execution.
I just released my 2024 video. It’s become an annual thing too. Many of my plans echo your advice. I really appreciate your perspective. It is wise to look at the long view. Thanks.
Great valuable advices, meant to save small creators and people like me going wrong ways or maybe nowhere. Thanks, and congrats for the million milestone. Best wishes from Transylvania!
THANK YOU! This is a great reminder! Also, what mic are you using? Sound quality is excellent (minus when you hit mute lol) - Ashley from Adventure Encounters
No music overwhelming you talking. No flailing arms either!! Hooray!! It's all about the useful content rather than the theatrics of the presentation. Are we ever sick of that nonsense?
How can short videos have a more negative impact on your channel than a positive one, please? Very wise: there is no guarantee that UA-cam will last for years!
Appreciate your efforts to convey the subject more precisely. I have noted that your videos and the presentation is fantastic. Feels it is a sincere guidance. Wishing you a successful year a head.

Congrats on the million bro, damn we need to do a concrete vlog this summer
Freedom - Free to make what I want, when I want. Not guided by deadlines etc. I think this will make me more real, and enjoy the process more.

Excellent video, Jeven, containing a couple of very powerful lessons to take me into 2024. I'm exhausted after all the walking, though...

Mma, poetry, theology, vlog, reactions, making music.... and more.... is what I cover.... so, UA-cam hates me.

This video would be twice as long without them

@@JevenDovey thanks
Do UA-cam for a hobby is ok. It is so hard to make money on UA-cam.
