  • Heyo internet anglers! We have recently acquired a used bass boat, it is a 1999 Triton TR-20 with a 1998 Yamaha V-Max 200. We are going to go completely through this boat from bow to stern in what is effectively going to be a budget restoration project. While the old girl is in relatively good shape, it has seen some neglect over the years and we want to restore it back to 100%, and make a ton of improvements to turn it a tournament bass fishing battleship.
    In this videos we're going to give you a general overview of the TR20, check the compression on the mighty old Yamaha VMAX 200, drop the oil from the lower unit, and discuss what we have on the "to do" list for this bass boat restoration project thus far.
    Here are a few items we'll be tackling on this project:
    - Full hull gel coat restoration: repair of many top cap stress cracks, lower hull chips, gouges, scratches, ect
    - New wiring throughout
    - Replace all fuel lines
    - Replace all pumps (bilge and livewell)
    - Replace/custom re-make lots of various trim
    - Total service of the 98 Yamaha Vmax: rebuild carbs, new seal kit for lower unit, Chris Carson reeds and other goodies for the top end, Hydro Tec parts, ect
    - Completely restore trailer: Sandblast and refinish, new hubs, new wiring, new lighting, new springs, ect
    Welcome to the project, and to the channel! Please like and subscribe to keep the Triton bass boat content coming!

      Should always check compression before buying a used boat. Might look good on the outside but could be bad on the inside

      It’s not bad for the year, and really, video kind of makes it look better than it is, but there is a whole mess of stuff wrong with the boat, more that we’ve found even since I recorded this. That’s the way it always goes

      @@FishingOntario Right on, it will make a more interesting series if there is a lot of work to do. I wish I would've bought used but I had so many issues In the past that I bit the bullet and bought a ranger rt188. It's a nice boat but the payment isn't lol.

    • @FishingOntario
      @FishingOntario  2 роки тому +1

      Badass boat! But yeah, the payment thing is exactly why we had to go with a budget-friendly used boat. We’ve gone through and refurbished/refitted a couple smaller boats now, so this one should be manageable. Hopefully we can keep the cost down, but the laundry list of “to do” items piles up quick.

    Nice boat! I have a TR20 as well but it's a 2000 and has a 200 Mercury. Almost has the same color scheme as your's too. I'm late to the party but I'll be watching all these as I'm about to start fixing mine up.

  • @jheiny1231
    @jheiny1231 Рік тому +1

    I know this video was uploaded awhile ago but most of the older bass boats the bilge has a float switch for an automatic pump out and then also wired to control manually by a switch. Actually newer boats are probably the same way. Not sure if you figured that out yet but best way to tell is pour a 5 gallon bucket of water down the cockpit drain hole and engage the float to see if it works. May need a little more than 5gallons
