- Come and join us as we start off the 2024 season at Blackpool Pleasure Beach! We head to the park on opening day to get back on some of our favourite rides, including ICON, a fantastic double launch roller coaster. We also experience various other rides throughout the park including the fantastic classic dark rides on offer at Pleasure Beach. We also check out the various updates, including some changes to the ride lineup for 2024. Unfortunately it was poor day for ride operations and availablity, however we tried to make the best of it!

Bit of a shock to the system, one minute your in florida riding your heads off to then being in Blackpool. Now that's dedication.
It's silly is what it is. They come back with their 'educated' opinions on how parks should be run. Just because you visit parks around the world do not for one second think you know what there is to know about running a park.
More than a shock…Blackpool is a complete dump…embarrassing place….

I was born in 1983. I can remember going to Pleasure Beach every year since 86, 87. And with my own kids over the last decade and a half. This is really disappointing though. Last year , 6 of the big rides were off, the days we were down in Blackpool. It's heartbreaking to see this park go downhill. So much history and magic, it's not there anymore. Get it together Amanda, don't let go of the fantastic legacy your family created. ❤
If anything, it was nice to see Alice in Wonderland looking fresh and running well. A very underrated UK dark ride!

Imagine travelling 3 / 4 hours to visit only to find that ride offering!! Not good enough by BPB, based on todays performance, I cant see it surviving another decade. Welcome home guys!

Interested to know what you think of Amanda’s tweet towards people asking questions?? Seen a lot of people saying she’s rude and is the reason that pleasure beach isn’t as popular anymore due to her attitude and patronising nature…interested in your thoughts on her series of tweets yesterday
I feel like communications from Amanda should come through statements released by the park and its PR team moving forwards

I didn’t go to the opening day yesterday, and I’m pretty glad I didn’t. Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers usually switch every so often between my favourite parks, but right now after hearing now bad the opening day was, it’s in the phase of Alton Towers being my favourite. It is exciting to hear a new attraction is being worked on, with the state of Grand Prix’s operations the last few years , I could see this happening. Overall, pretty disappointed in what I’ve heard went on yesterday.
Towers had a bad year last year too. Let's hope with the Nemesis reopen they have a much better year!

@@catherineclark4484I’m not necessarily angry, it’s just worrying and sad to see this happen. I may have been a bit brutal in my comment there, despite not even being there for opening day but just from what I’ve heard it’s disappointing.
Alton towers is way better than Pleasure beach.Always have been.

I live in Scotland (Highlands), good job I didn't travel down as planned on open day! What a disappointment that would have been, clearly wasn't ready and you can't blame the weather on everything, sensor errors, music faults and maintenance issues! I would imagine management have alot of emails to get through? 😂 Thank you both for yet another great video and braving the cold rain! 🌧

I'm always shocked at how big River Caves is, I've actually never been on it because it looked like a very simple ride especially with that entrance being so small & I just couldn't picture there being that much inside the showbuilding! They really do cram everything together so well at Blackpool

Honestly when I see this, and all the attractions were working properly, this would be my favourite park to go to if I would be able to visit the UK. It has so many great unique classic rides that you can experience, and I love the classic darkrides as well. So I hope they will manage the park a bit better. I feel like in a country that is full of parks with horrorthemes, a family park like this one should be treasured!

always good to see another blackpool pleasure beach video.already saw a news report that a good chunk of rides werent operating, real shame, butit's still good to see the park. Sounds like the big one was only a temporary fault so fingers crossed they fix that one asap

I watched another blog showing the new "additions" to the old ghost train. If anything it looks as though they've taken stuff OUT of it lol 😂. Great video as always guys!
Agree. They need to add more! The tunnel with the fake stone pillars each side is a waste as you expect something to pop out or at least a siren but nothing .

Noooooooo😮 grand Prix was 6yr old me's favourite thing about Blackpool admittedly that was 45 yrs ago. I really think these theme parks have a duty to keep all the classics going
I'm absolutely gutted we are losing grand prix so many great memories riding it as a kid it's very sad

I think the basic problem is that they opened too early - both in terms of winter weather and unfinished maintenence. Hope things improve quickly.
It’s barely march. They could have waited a bit it’s still cold as they are wearing coats. Who wants to go to an amusement park in winter?

You can always rely on Alice in Wonderland to be open - great dark ride. Shame about opening day having a weak start but i'm sure it will improve as the season gets underway. Enjoyed the vid

We went to the Pleasure beach today instead of yesterday. I think you were very unlucky. We had beautiful blue skies not a drop of rain all rides except, big one and rugrats open. Audio was brilliant on the river caves, and they had touched it up (except the snake). The audio on the pleasure beach express was also working. We were very impressed with the changes today. I think they were having a bad day as today was 10 times better
That’s so great to hear, I do think the weather had a big impact on the experience although acknowledge doesn’t explain all of it. Going next week so hope i’m lucky! 🎉
We were also at the park on Sunday and it was definitely a better day. Still some work needed in many areas to get things up to the usual standards though!

Not sure why the opening scene in River Caves was all covered up guessing they haven't got rid of all the stuff inside from their Halloween nights last year?

Bad enough being a season pass holder living an hour away - really feel for people who made a lengthy journey and paid for a day ticket.

It was such a big shock guys! I'm so sad to see yous had a bad start to the 2024 season that is one of my closest parks and to see it in that poor operating state it was so sad hopefully it was just a bad day and it improves 😢😢

Steeplechase is Cool and I like the idea of how you can race 2 other people on horses on a Roller coaster
Maybe it shouldn't rush opening so soon. I suspect most people would accept a late march opening if everything was 100% like audio and ride reliability. Other parks like Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Blackgang all open mid march onwards to make sure everything is top notch not rushed.

Used to be half price or 80p a ride on opening weekend for that reason .Now they charge full price for half the park closed.

I have watched quite a few vlogs now on the disappointing opening of Pleasure Pleasure Beach Resort. Lots of rides closed, too many. However great to see the attention the Ghost Train and Alice are getting, often overlooked otherwise! The Big Blue is lovely. We stayed in a room with park view last year.
When I was in 9th grade, we went on a band trip to North Carolina. We went to Carowinds and spent the entire day, open to close, there and it rained most of the day. Still had fun though 😂
For me Thorpe Park is easily the best big theme park right now & I thought that before they've added Hyperia!
Im sad the Florida trip eneded but im glad you two did go to blackpool atleast since it is lovely park but i hope the coming seasons Will bring something New to blackpool

Such a shame to see it not on top form. I would of much rather of had a later opening date and everything be operational than a disappointing day. It goes to show just how much audio can really make a difference to the ride experience!

Tbh it’s absolutely shocking - they ran a competition for people for the first rides on big one of the season re opening day so it’s just shocking.

I’d like to see Grand Prix replaced with a good family thrill coaster. I’d love to see something replace Astroswirl in the dome and also the old Space Invader building, which has been empty for years. We still need a new thrill coaster to replace the Wild Mouse and utilise the land where Trauma Towers was. Lots of removals and not much in the way of replacements?
Why open the park so early if your attractions aren’t ready? Open later and have a better opening day, doesn’t make sense, unless it’s a money gathering exercise? However with that tack you risk upsetting your pass holders and putting off your repeat guests.

Its sad yes to hear and see classic rides go, love classic rides, I never thought Blackpool would get rid of a ride like that, but yes should of given people opportunity to ride it for last time, also would be good if they sold parts of it in shop aswell, maybe could get car for museum Shawn? Aswell parts of ride? But yeah could of kept the ride, removed something else or expanded park & built something new in expanded space. But nice vlog, really enjoyed and look forward to more vlogs in future, 100% Ice Blast is getting removed. Thats not coming back, be very surprised. What do you think will replace Grand Prix? I thinking a new family coaster? Maybe a family custom compact RMC? Like Moose Coaster, but a different theme, layout, size or something different? Not sure? They should've made the last 2 seats backwards (like Tonnere 2 Zeus in Parc Asterix) and than call it Nemesis Evolution or something ..

Have to agree the opening day should have been better, I'm glad we made the decision to go on the Sunday and it seemed to be a lot better, but Big One was still going around ALL DAY even though it was closed so again what the issue was I've no idea. Think you were there again so you no doubt you will have seen it too, shame we didn't bump into you

I love infusion but when I went on it my head was banging side to side as it went down. After I was done with infusion I bought my picture and saw a red mark across my face ((not my entire face just parts of it). And I looked in the mirror and I couldn't see the mark.
Icon is my favourite ride at the park, it swaped with the big one, big one has gone to my 2nd fav.

Personally, I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt. It's not the start of the full season yet, plus wouldn't you want every ride to be fully functioning and 100% safe to ride? Rides need maintenance and refurbishment and may take longer to do this than what was originally intended. Y'all would be pissed off if you were riding a rollercoaster and then it broke down suddenly because they rushed to get it open and running. I get it is disappointing to people who have travelled far. But unfortunately things like this can happen 😊
Theme parks have ride closures, I don't think there is any theme park that I have been to that hasn't had a few closures due to maintenance or something else. Geez I went to Drayton Manor during the peak season in July and 5 rides were closed. But I didn't complain, I just made the most of what was on offer and I still enjoyed myself 😊

If you’re not going to be 100% ready by opening day…
DELAY THE OPENING DAY!
Until the weather becomes reliable and/or all of the Rides (Including the Big One) are ready.
This better not happen when Alton Towers opens in two weeks.
And in regards to what the new attraction might be, why not those plunge Flume towers that Lightwater Valley has?
I personally believe Amanda is getting fed up of running the place, if her tweets are anything to go by, I reckon she’ll hand it over to Nick Thompson, her brother, and then eventually Morgan will take over when he’s ready, i’m convinced if Nick and Morgan do takeover in the future, that will be a whole new successful era were the park returns to it, roots and a hell of a lot closer to its former glory.
Having spoken to Morgan personally, he really seems to understand what makes the park special, and how to bring it back to its former glory.
@@dougbriglmen716 Nick Thompson I believe sits on the board of Pleasure Beach as Deputy MD. It is very hard running a park like pleasure beach especially one with shows , hotels and other experiences on top of running the park each day. I personally really like Amanda and think she has made some tough decisions but necessary ones to save the park and does want to improve things. I believe it should stay as a family owned business whoever may end up running it down the line
@@jackhodgson8605 yes he is on the board, but I don’t think he has the control or say that he would like to, certainly not as much as his sister who ultimately has the final say.
That’s fine that you like Amanda and that you think she’s done okay, I’ve just got too many problems with modern day pleasure beach and it’s been building up gradually over the last 20 years, it just feels like they’ve never really returned to truly better times, after clearing the debts that she was left with, I’m just not 100% certain that her heart is in the amusement ride side of things anymore, I think she ran just the stage work stuff and the hotels, she would be doing really well at that side of things.
The reality is, she’s not going to be in charge forever, so she’ll either have to hand it down to someone else in the family eventually, or sell it, hopefully the former as it should still be family owned just with somebody who will prioritise the rides and the park, as that’s what people really come for more than anything else.
