Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.
Let’s not forget Niantic asked a news site to remove their story about broken GBL, so they know and are hiding it
I say Niantic shouldn’t fix it.
Let Pokémon Company see how bad they fumbled the app, so the main Headquarters of Pokémon Company, in Japan, seize full ownership of the app and all within.
This is the best case scenario, because Japan is catching on about the western behavior with Japanese properties and history.

Japan loves to stay inefficient to be traditional (and I don't mean their cultural traditions, but how traditionally were made websites 20 YEARS AGO, how traditionally professors were able to hit their students and they still do (it happened to me, and no one at Kyushu University cared, other than the counselor), how their MEXT scholarship is a huge mess and waste of opportunities and money but they traditionally blame the students (for cases like mine or many other kinds of unfair situations)).
They just released new banknotes that are not supported by many machines so it is so inconvenient to get them. They are not as productive, efficient and organize as people think. They are good for many things, but they are also terrible at other things that are not hard to prevent.

PvP is also rigged. If you win 5 in a row, they literally start matching you to your counters that make you loose. PvP is super rigged.
Charge your team and you'll immediately see counters. It's 2024 and people will swear there isn't a simple algorithm to level the playing field.
Wait until people realise that the mainline games are pay to win.
@@3ftninja132 Lol, no their not. You can 100% grind and get your own tourney ready pokemon. It's not "pay to win", people are just lazy and don't want to take the time to just do it themselves. You can grind EVs, breed for perfect IVs, etc etc. It's not that hard if you know what you're doing.

You don't need to win 100 in a row can rank your win rating to get easy wins

@uhhhpersoniguess yeah after a certain points stardust.. normal tms and rare candies aren't really worth much. Not to say that they aren't useful but xl is what someone wants then it's rough.

Max battle limit, crashes, frame lags, the rewards being not so great, the stat changes times getting specific either scarce or just straight up unobtainable pokemon and the constant swapping between what leagues are live at any one time making this even worse.
Even the Team GO Rocket battles sometimes froze, I have to restart the game & battling them again, how annoying.
Thought I was the only one. Lol I thought my phone just sucks. 🤦♂️😂
I came here to say this cause it's not just GBL PvP, but anything in the game that uses this system.
And it’s not just on android phones too this is overall I had this issue and I have an iPhone they brought it up in the video they have androids but honestly the same glitches are on iPhone like no one wins lol 😂
Its crazy the times the rocket battles and PVP battles have frozen on me, it's been RIGHT ON MY LAST TAP THAT SHOULD KILL THEIR LAST POKEMON.

Ever since Niantic fired over 200 much needed employees the game has been going downhill fast. I played the day of launch and loved being able to play without having to pay to play.
You don't have to pay to play. It's more like pay to profit quickly. The pvp and its reward limits are a bit ridiculous. They gotta feed off those who micro non-stop. It keeps the game afloat for us casuals.
Nintendo needs to take away Niantics right to further develop PoGo. That’s the only long term solution at this point!
so you just want Pokemon Go to die because I cannot see another company being able to perfectly transfer all those accounts into a new game engine and relearning how to support the game all because you think Niantic should have their ability to develop the game remove, its either Niantic develops it or the game dies entirely.
@@AdventGO they just need to force a sell. Nintendo itself just say that Niantic is done, and then tickets properties. It’s possible Nintendo would probably take Niantic to court, absorb its properties, and then go from there. I could see them giving it to the other company that does its other mobile Pokémon game and then go from there

@@Beyondthe5thPanel seems very extreme possibly jeopardizing one of their most profitable games of all time when they could just have more strict quality control, Nintendo/Gamefreak also don't care if a small group of people are annoyed when they have millions upon millions more blindly consuming their content as shown with the most recent mainline Pokemon games being very unpolished. The Pokemon GO online community is big but like most online groups don't represent the majority of consumers.

The lag has been around since PvP started in 2020. It's literally never been fixed in 4 years. I have also lost many matches recently due to the frame drops!
They NEED to switch to a show 6, pick 3 format
It'd make it way more fun and harder to manipulate, and it'd be a direct translation to tournament play
Niantic can't even get the game they have now to run properly and your solution is to make it more complicated lol. They need to fix what they have now before adding new features but they fired 200 employees so they can't even fix what they have now.
Imagine if they had a tournament/worlds!
And nobody showed up to play.. no players = no event..
No event= PVP updates..

The reason they don't fix PvP: 1) it doesn't make any direct revenue (raids). 2) it's not an AR feature.
even when PVP doesn't lag it's hard to be motivated when you go on loosing streaks, if I can win 2 to 4 battles per set I don't mind too much but when you get 0-2 wins for 3 sets in a row it's like why even bother playing. it doesn't matter how good or bad I play some days I just win tons when I dont pay attention and use a team that doesn't make sense, but yet I often loose when I'm using a well thought out team.. turn counting, catching, etc
Really sad to see they never event bothered fixing this part of the game that’s why I feel less motivated to do gbl anymore it’s just not worth the stress

Whoever has the most control over the decisions made with Pokémon go at Niantic has got to go. They need people who care making the decisions. Obviously it’s not working dude.
I’m on level 43 and having to win 30 battles of each league is a massive pace breaker for me with all these glitches I just refuse do use it.
There’s a workaround for that, start playing GBL in the last 2 weeks of the season and you will find really easy opponents
Battle a friend or a second account and it actually will count
Battle a friend with 10cp Mons. You can knock it out in less than an hour

I like gbl (putting aside the bugs, which is easier as an iPhone user) so I didn’t mind doing it for great and ultra leagues but because I’m not rich or experienced enough to have mons for master league, I just did my master league battles against my second account.
The ranking system is so frustrating.
It’s true, my iPhone runs pvp perfectly but my android phone lags so much. Knowing that the high end android phones has same problems too is quite a big problem.

My iPad gets stuck & even tho it’s an old one, this is something I noticed only this season! I remember a few years ago. My iPad ran it just fine, it lags at the start, when clicking a charged move, stuck when trying to click, it’s not only android, it’s just as bad on other IOS devices
I have an S24 ultra. My biggest issue is hitting my charged move over and over and over to use it. Could be clicking it a solid 3 seconds. And then I get the message "attack incoming" when it was clearly me clicking..lol unless the opponent was also mashing it and it was lagging for both sides. But it drives me nuts. It's the only thing in pvp that has issue for me. I don't see any if this other stuff

I'm a 95% PvE, 5% PvP player. I started this January and got to rank 20 both seasons for the rewards, then gladly stopped. Was it always this bad? I've played a lot of PvP games but this may just be the worst. I don't even touch PvP outside of battle weekend or any PvP event (if any). Giving us a free research that implies winning hundreds of broken matches is not the solution.
Yes, it's consistently bad, alao very stale, tedious, and boring. It's best for your sanity to play occasionally for the dust and don't stress about rank or elo.
My worst problem with the PvP is when my opponent gets to use their shields 3 or 4 times, a problem which has persisted for years.
That algorithm is trash and unnecessary, im supposed to lose and get perfect counters because I’ve been winning too much ? The must stupid and unhinged system ever. No wonder why people Tank or just quit all together
That’s why I say it’s RIGGED! If you win too many in a row, the algorithm automatically pairs your pokemon with its counters so you actually start loosing.
While the algorithm exists, everyone deals with it and it’s not that bad. Get better.

The main problem with the pvp is the cheating ring that have a cheating discord server for cheating in pvp Pokemon ak already called it out it is very bad and niantec knows all about it but can't do anything about the bugs you are talking about with lag is the cheating done buy other players
Been playing since 2016 and this is why I don't spend anymore money on the game, because I haven't seen much or any fixes to this game.

It's been a long time coming; I dont exactly remember when I started playing GBL, but it probably was 1 or 2 years ago, and, I knwo some people don't believe in the algorithm, but I do, and it has gotten worse and worse with every season. If i wanted to win I had to use the top Pokémon, but now with all the lag, it's impossible, it's frustrating. I am not the best pvp player, but it is soooooo heartbreaking to lose a match when you know it's not your fault, it's the game, the lag. Also, I had a terrible experience with lag during a bit event last year, I don't remember which one it was, but I had TERRIBLE lag with the catching screen, it was when they added the upgrades bios. I am glad more people are finally raising their voice.
i really dont care about pvp... pokemon go pvp is ridiculously boring, just tap nonstop and see how lag makes everything worse. What really bothers me is the excellent throws not registered. i hate it so much omg
Also this. I really wish it was traditional jrpg turn based. That would limit how much lag matters and it would just be more fun.
Completely agree, I got to rank 10 for lv50 requirement and It felt really bad to play. Some wins I got where due to lag and disconnects. There is very little skill involved

There is skill but its tied to knowledge accessing that knowledge. Niantic does terribly to explain anything it leaves new players frustrated.
As a new player you won't know anything about catching, energy management, baiting, team building, enemy team prediction, or what moves are viable.
If that’s the reason you don’t care about PvP, you’re proving AXN and Jinsulas point. It has potential, but it has so many issues that have simply been neglected for a while.
As a player who returned this year after not playing since launch the main thing keeping me from liking and caring about PVP (still play it for dust) is the meta. I play Pokémon to collect and fight with the Pokemon I like and as an older player that's mostly gen 1-3. Looking at a cheesy list to pick "the best" Pokémon is not interesting to me and kind of defeats the purpose of rping as a trainer. Unless you're rping as team rocket and just want the strongest and don't care about the power of friendship. And what can I say I like variety. Don't wanna see the same Pokémon over and over.

Mannnn I agree 100% but trying to tell a competitive player this is a very hard task. A lot of competitive players DONT CARE about the experience of capturing, training and fighting Pokemon. Competitive players only want to win! Use the best & most efficient pokemon. Dont care if it’s a little stale…. How a Mon looks, or if its cool or not. Winning is what matters. And if that’s there opinion, then so be it… but they have a hard time understanding my logic lol

PvP is getting worse. The app quits at the start and I rejoin to a battle that’s still going lol they don’t have to stop cheaters just stop some of them.
I rarely play PVP anymore because there's bugs and frame drops in every match so it just makes me angry lol
Im stuck at lv43 because im forced to play pvp to level up to 44, almost 100 victories required.. I have some decent pokemons for pvp, just not in to it. This might have me stop playing the game, again...
Give better rewards for pvp and ill play it more and also winning 200 matches for each class only to have to buy the clothing from the shop is a crime
I’ve been stuck at level 43 for so long because the pvp requirements for level 44 is so painfully tedious and unenjoyable.
I really love the feedback and criticism from you and Poke Ak there needs to be changes. Glitches, sketchy algorithms, price hikes for no good reason and very little strategy in pvp we need abilities and better move pools for Pokémon.

I did a pvp match with a friend in ultra league. It lagged at the end but I kept tapping after I won since it didnt say the match was over. When I finally decided to exit the battle it credited me with winning 117 Ultra league matches.

Hot take: I think Go is fine as it is and just needs updates to current features. The real problem is Niantic's agenda. It doesn't align with our concerns.

Not very many. It's an extremely simplistic version of battling and really not much more than rock paper scissors. Pokemon is built around turns, held items and they've done nothing to rework moves to account for this loss.
It’s more accessible to people and most of the researching that you need to do to play at a high level is knowing move counts and common team cores. Main series games are far more complicated than gbl because of things like abilities, holdable items, and moves that do stuff outside of simply buffing/de buffing or doing damage.
@@aximat I agree the format is extremely simple but because you need very specific IVs and pokemon to play at a high level so I wouldn't say it's more accessible. For me it's too simple to be interesting and I'm not rerolling or hunting forever trying to get correct IVs
I feel like it would be a lot better if they would make it 6 teams and add some different active fighting system maybe more leaning towards a shooter. Right now the only thing holding me back to just make a makro to farm this repetitive mess is getting my account banned. Pvp is a joke even without the bugs.
@chaosdragun1608 as a longtime smogon player who only started taking gbl seriously this season, I kinda agree, but it definitely has its place. And if you think it's too simple/just tapping, then you probably arent good and have no idea what you're doing lol
I often reached the expert rank in past seasons but in the last seasons I can hardly even do the veteran rank anymore, every time I get around 2400/2450 the game sends me back to 2200 and so every time, honestly after a while I get bored and it's not even fun, it's clear that some have a different algorithm since they immediately reach the veteran rank and the expert rank, in my opinion some even if they are good are destined to remain ace rank because "the game wants it" it's quite frustrating
I was worried about this same matter. I thought that I was the only one (in my group) that was suffering from lag spikes, bugs or freezes. Also, my phone overheats when I go PvP.
Now I know that even the world champion has the same issue (which sucks).
Routes is useful as a solo player (collecting Sqishly aka Zygarde Cores) . But the same can't be said about Party Play as especially you can't create a solo party (party of 1) and thus can't complete the tasks.
Once you go past a 10 win streak, it super rubberband like crazy. I was only able to win once against a tripple hard counter team. The algorithm is crazy, the lag has a ping of 2 lightyears.
I’m glad more people are speaking out about this.
This is the message people need to hear, though. “Stop. Paying. Them.” Simple. Speaking with your wallets is the most powerful thing players can do.
Free-to-play player since 2016 here, and I have a ton of good PVP and shiny Pokemon. I think people feel you will miss out if you don’t pay, but that is not at all the case. Just be patient.
It’s not “bugs” or lag. It’s INTENTIONAL POINT SHAVING which is illegal in sports. It’s designed to manipulate the outcome To keep you closer to 50% it’s all a part of the algo that people don’t think exists
I don't think Niantic is competent enough to create a super stealth algorithm that wouldn't have been sniffed out by the player base in a single season let alone the entirety of GBL.
Or just the commute of spoofers and how they look into things like code and such. Those guys can go into a program more or less and figure out where nests are spread throughout the world, throughout updates. People like Poke AK assume it's cheaters but it's worse than just that, this effects even the cheaters >.< The hidden algo idea is a good thought but people like spoofers would've most likely found something like that.

The ELO system tries to put you at 50% win rate already. Why would Niantic invest more on that?
How lost can one be. Yeah, the game is full of bugs, but hey, niantic is spending millions to create a super algorithm just to screw you.
Pokemon Duel was maybe the most underrated game…crashes & burned due to bad marketing and having a gacha sytems limited it’s reach…
I wish Niantic would add the game as a mini game in Pokemon Go, you could use the pokemon you catch as figures idk, but it’s one of the most exciting strategy games to play or watch. Could be huge and be competitive. Need it back.
I'm an old-school Pokemon player. I love the real life exploration of going around and catching pokemon, but the PVP is just broken. My worst record was 45 losses in a row, before I stopped playing entirely. I haven't even leveled up because it requires PVP League wins. I'm a casual player who goes around and catches the Pokemon the way the game used to be. I wish you could battle the wild pokemon. You know, the way the game used to be.
I would sincerely appreciate it if the GBL itself would change. In vgc, when you play normally in a game, not a tournament, there is no open team sheet, so you don't know attacks, items, abilities, tera type, but at least you know what 6 pokémon oponent has and you and your opponent get to pick 4 pokémon to battle. If pokémon go had the S6P3 system right in the game (it wouldn't have to be an open team sheet) I think it might attract other people, or like me, bring them back to pvp, but if they never add this and fix the bugs, I don't think I'll ever want to go back to pvp, because for me, the format of vgc and pokemon go tournaments suits it much better :(
I think a way they should make it more accessible for pvp is they should revamp it to where IVs shouldn’t matter or make it to where all Pokémon have a level of competitive play on the field. The grind for certain Pokémon that are meta relevant which includes certain moves and IVs is very hard, tedious, and of course RNG heavy. If you miss out on them you gotta wait months for that pokemon to come back into rotation or shell out coins. It’s not like that mainline games which you can’t hunt and alter things accordingly at anytime you please. I think they should leave all that in those games.
I've been saying this for years. I told so many people that there's so many issues with PVP, and no one listened or believed Mr. And here we are struggling with the very issues I was pointing out.

Its not just android I have an Iphone, I took a week break and came back and the lag/frame drops were ridiculous, my opponents were lagging as well.
Practice mode is actually an amazing idea I never thought about. The rewards should be linked with your competitive battles, and practice battles should have its own set of benefits that don’t affect your competitive stats directly.
LAG in PVP in Pokémon Go is been there since forever, but the current season is so frustrating men!!!! i honestly not even good at it but i really wanna try to get better, but it gets me so F#!ng mad that it froze out of the blue, and not once or twice, is constantly. I´m so done with PVP
I quit the game like almost 2 years ago and in the past I hit Legend multiple times, but eventually stopped cuz of many bugs, game direction and ofc life was catching up, but dmg in this time frame, niantic did nothing and even maybe got worse? unbelievable, but as long as people keep spending their money on the game, niantic won't care, you guys need to vote with your wallet and play the game for free

Pvp unfortunately just doesn’t interest me. Maybe we need something that Clash of Clans had the Single Player Mode when Raiding? I’m not sure just my thoughts.
They had YEARS to fix this. Litteral years. The one thing that was fun about the game has been ignored pretty much from the start.
Ive long since sold my account because it was getting stressful and not fun anymore and a huge part of the stress was from pvp and so seeing this 2 years later they still havent done anything and it actually got worse
I love PVP... Usually hit Ace rank every season! But I must admit there are many problems with it and Niantic doesn’t seem to want to fix it
I'm similar but I'm slowing down with the grind of it... main reason being the rewards aren't worth the wins. It's laughable now.

I really don't care for PvP, I only play if it's part of a research task and that's not often. I do find it very boring.
I play it everyday for rewards. Those players spoof around for the best IV’s.
1. There is no such thing as the best IV - it depends on how much atk, def, hp you have. More atk = mre breakpoints, more defense = more bulkpoints
ITSAXN used a rank 300 medicham to win the world championships in 2023 because it had the breakpoint vs other high rank medichams
2. You don't need the best IVs to reach legend in pvp
@@NeonMyloXyloto Well.. that's the point... they can easily get any specific ivs, and also all the XL candies that they need without effort, in the next 24-48 hours that a new pokemon debut in the game... while a fair regular player (specially new ones) need to grind months to max something (a lvl 50 lickitung b.e.)... and better no talk about the pay to win in the master league and how cheaters take advantage of that. If you compare that with how the pvp work in other games, where you just need the best mons and anyone have a fair chance to obtain them... yeah... the gbl is a joke.

IV specificty is for when you want to target a certain matchup because Breakpoints and Bulkpoints are matchup dependent. So for GBL when its random it doesnt really matter.
It matters more for show 6 tournament style play.
You only need to play open great league to do well in GBL rankings. I hit leaderboards just doing that, no master, no ultra, no specialty cups.
Complain about real issues. Not made up ones.

Usually I try to get better at the games I play, but in pokemon go it's only for stardust and rare candy. I can see glimmers of a good system but my fucking god the issues are absolutely abhorrent.

I literally had 0 issue with the lv43 challenge this week of winning in each league and Im mid core, not hardcore.
No lagg or dcs
They are adding way too many new features that are just broken and they move onto the next new thing. They need to fix the base problems, but instead they are covering their bottom line making a TOS update.
Their obsession with great league is a problem too. There are no alternative cups to play for ultra and master…
I honestly haven't played pogo in months. I'm playing TGC instead. It seems easier to get the right pokemon and if you put money into it, you get a tangible reward because those stardust and rare candies aren't thriling anymore:(
I feel like pvp just needs to be completely reworked the whole tapping like crazy thing makes it look like a goofy mini game and its tiring
What needs to happen is Pokémon Company needs to seize full ownership of Go. The main Japanese one, not the international offices.

That’s wild to me that people “only play Pokémon go for PvP” I’ve never met one of those people. My personal opinion is that PvP is crap. It’s just a tapping race.
For the most part yeah, but I still find it fun. Maybe cause I’m still a new player and haven’t hit the wall yet

High level master league is (or was) one of the most strategic, yet not convoluted games I've ever played, specially in formats like Silph Factions. Mechanically simple but deep and high paced, just counting energy makes an enormous difference compared to casual playing, and that's barely the minimum needed to compete.
Notice in the video many of the problems are also on iPhones. It’s so annoying.

I dont understand how someone can sit everyday playing full sets until max daily limit reached! Im talking EVERYDAY! How???
A lot of people like me play Pokemon Go the same way they play Pokemon TCG, which is to say they don't play PvP at all. They're just collectors.
I used to do PVP everyday but now I don’t care about it much at all other than farming stardust. The pokemon rewards are almost always the same crap
I don’t grind anymore for at least 2 years now.

The proven pairing imbalances is awful as well. If you start winning, it will give you these almost impossible pairings to deal with. It sucks all the fun out of it.
I’m a die-hard PVP player. PVP is not DEAD. It does have lots of problems though. I use an iPhone so the frame drop problem doesn’t really affect me but when I watch streamers playing on android I see the frame drops quite often. The freezing issue is by far the worst bug. I and other PVPers suspect that it can even be triggered somehow intentionally and there are people out there who will cause the game to freeze right before they lose a match. Very irritating

DRE (damage registration error) is annoying too.
And not knowing if you get the buff /debuff is critical
PVP isn’t dead… but it will die if they don’t fix it.
And also; 100% of my raid passes didn’t yield a raid. I lost about 7 passes out of 200 by the raid boss not dying once we took away its HP. We just kept attacking it until the timer ran out. Then the raid would be gone so redoing it wasn’t possible
They could overhaul the system completely.. I mean, it's not as if Big-N had a claim on round-based battles altogether.
Would make the game *way* less prone to lags too. And for the love of (your favorite celestial entity); use one system for all encounters.
The game has known memory leakage issues. Have you also noticed while gifting, the same thing happens? It will freeze up, same with PVP, the code sucks and needs to be rewritten.
they gotta make pvp more worth it in general. of course fixing the issues but also making the pvp rewards better. after barely scraping away 3 battles you get a TM, some dust and a wingull or something. could they at least give us some interesting pokemon from the encounters, but i doubt that’d ever happen

I really hate pvp, but I agree, they should take some time to work on these issues. Maybe they shouldn’t have fired all those people last year if they don’t have time to do basic things like fix bugs.

I loved PVP when it first came out. But I agree, it is just not worth it. The game has lost its roots and is now nothing more then a money grab.
I have to say, I reached legend rank several times at previous season.
But I have not even launched a single combat for the last 3 season, just because it's getting annoying to play. I love the PvP in Pokémon Go, but I hate the tons of issues that come along...
I really hope Niantic wakes up someday but it's getting dark
They need to fix pvp im considering quitting the game, collecting good ivs is useless now and shinies are so painful to get, no point in playing this game anymore, such a shame because i have many childhood memories
I always say they need a exhibition mode that's unlimited, then the ranked matches with the limit
Also Android runs so bad, I have a Pixel 7a and it runs so terrible
It also makes my phone really hot, it's incredibly unoptimized
Bro you said it right the whole system needs a complete overhaul. Honestly the whole game needs some huge updates.
Back in the first 5 seasons of gbl, I’d always get to a competitive ranking and complete all my battles for the day. As the seasons went on, and the bugs remained, I slowly lost interest in completing all my daily sets and competing to get to a high rank. It’s sad really, because gbl was one of my favourite things about the game. I hope pvp gets a revamp in terms of bugs, and in terms of a practice tool as mentioned in the video
same, something must have happened in the last seasons, some people like me struggle to get to veteran, in the past seasons I got there easily..

The only way is the change your team from time to time to avoid the algorithm to play you in disadvantage as much as possible
So many people forget about the importance of PvP. Pokemon battles are the core focus of Pokemon besides going our and catching pokemon, and a solid number of players (myself included) only play Pokemon GO now specifically for GBL - for the battles and being able to obtain premium items that would otherwise be difficult to do so in other circumstances.
ItsAXN summarised all the issues about the state of GBL perfectly. High level knowledge of the game and hard proof evidence to show just how far down the game has fallen. If Niantic can't even get the fundamentals right while designing a game, then it's going to fall flat on it's face and be forgotten in due time.
If GBL goes down, the game will also collapse. Niantic needs to get their act together, and fast.
