I appreciate this series so much because as much as we would all love to take our Shahada and instantly leave our old lives and habits behind and be the best Muslims we can be for some of us that just was not the case and may Allah forgive us for that.
I always like to remind myself that Quran was revealed over almost 23 years. So for 23 years the Muslims changed parts of themselves to become better and were not perfect in their faith right away but what was important is they never gave up. We strive everyday to be our best and beg our Rabb for mercy and forgiveness for where we fell short and we ask Him to bless us with tomorrow to be even better.
Yusha, your video The Bible Led Me to Islam was one of the very first if not the very first video I ever watched before taking my Shahada in 2014! Alhamdullilah. You will always hold a special place in my heart because although we know it is our Lord whom guides us, without your video I wouldnt have had that push. Thank you brother. May Allah always keep you on the straight path and I pray we meet in Jannah one day iA. Ameen.

    @Brother Yusha! Salams! : )
I am a revert to Islam almost 43 yrs. now. I am a mother of 5, my youngest with special needs. Now a grandmother of 12.😊 I came across your video several years ago. I obviously had already taken my Shahada, but your video was still so inspiring. Now, I share it so often online, people may think I’m your mother! 😂 I share it in comment threads, to those who have questions about Islam, those who misunderstand Islam, & those who have Islamaphobiia towards Islam.
I pray, insh’Allah, that it has reached even more people, by it having been left in those comment threads.🤲🏻😊
It’s just a small little Dawah I can disseminate from behind my phone screen, using the beginnings of your journey of faith to Islam. I go back every so often, & listen to it again, whenever I get discouraged, for one reason or another. Life happens, as you know. It reminds me of what it was like to have been a new Muslim & that fire that was ignited when I found Islam & knew I had found the truth, AlhamduAllah!!🤲🏻
I just wanted you to know how much your work in public speaking has helped others, in ways you probably don’t even know about, Subhannah Allah!! “May Allah reward you, in this life & the hereafter!! Ameen!!”🤲🏻
We all have challenges in our lives, & we all need to understand that just because we have been led to Islam, AlhamduAllah, doesn’t mean we are never going to have problems. As you’ve stated “Allah tests those he loves!”. I have faced many obstacles on my journey, some I am more open about than others. But I have learned that even Muslims can let you down. I had a very naive mindset when I first became a Muslim at the age of 17. I thought all Muslims must be perfect, because Islam & Quran are perfect!! I was sadly in for some rude awakenings over the years! lol! I laugh about some of those things now, but others not so much.😔 In any case, I agree that there needs to be more authenticity presented in our communities. Everyone wants to act like the Muslim community doesn’t have the same problems that other communities have. For this reason, many of our young people are turning away from Allah. Some leave Islam altogether.
Our youth are our future of the Muslim Ummah. I worry what the future holds for our children, grandchildren & their children? Will all of the strides Islam has made in the U.S. & around the World collapse, because there is no one of real Islamic knowledge left, to run the Islamic Centers we have built? Or will there only be figure heads saying the same old things, & no one coming to listen, Allah Forbid?!
I know there are people who disagree, but they don’t want to face the reality of what’s been happening for decades, & why it’s happening.
Anyway, I could go on & on, but you get the jist of it, I’m sure.😊
Well, I am now at a point in my life, where I have more life behind me, than in front of me. I’ll be 61 yrs old in a few short months, insh’Alallah!🤲🏻
I have some health issues, including a rare form of cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Malignant Retroperitoneal Lipo Sarcoma, in Oct. 2020, about 6 months. after the Pandemic began. That was very unexpected!! As a matter of fact, I had just returned from Hajjj, at the end of August 2019, the Summer before, (AlhamduAllah!!🤲🏻), That kinda led me to be diagnosed before it was too late.
I never thought that I would get to see the Kabbah before that either. AlhamduAllah I did though!!🤲🏻 That’s another story for another time.😊
But, I thought I had raised my children & could sit back & somewhat relax. I tell people,”If you want to make God (Allah) laugh, just tell him your plans!”, as they say.☺️
It was very traumatic, in the beginning, but I realize that I am still here, for however long Allah sees fit. So I don’t want to waste my time feeling sorry for myself. Allah has allowed me to live longer than expected. My type has a 90% mortality rate. But that also means a 10% survival rate! At least for 8-10 years, from the time of diagnosis, they say. Allah Knows Best!!
It will be 4 yrs. in October. The time has flown by, Subhannah Allah!! But,I have no toe tag on my foot just yet, so I am going to live the best life I can, insh’Allah. 🤲🏻
I have my adult child with special needs, now almost 28 yrs old, with severe cognitive & speech delays due to a TBI at birth, to be here for. As well as my grandchildren I want to see grow up, if Allah permits, insh’Allah!!🤲🏻
    Allah Kareem!!🤲🏻
Please keep me & my family
In your Duaa, insh’Allah!!🤲🏻 I will keep you & your family in mine as well, insh’Allah!!🤲🏻
Well, thank you again, for your inspiration & the work that you do!! The time is right for some frankness & honesty, AlhamduAllah!!🤲🏻
I look forward to watching more of your vids & sharing them, to all who may be interested, & to a few that may not know they’re interested just yet!!🤣
Btw, I was in Rochester, Mn. this past Ramadan (2024). I have a daughter, her husband & their children, who live there. We spent Eid in Minneapolis. I wish I had known you were in the area. I would have loved to express my gratitude to you in person. But there was no destiny for that to have happened, I guess.
I have an American Revert son-in-law who became an Imam. He is at MCC, in Charlotte, NC. He is known as “Imam John” (or Yahya😁) Ederer. Maybe you are familiar with him, idk? They have a YT channel too. He is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is where I live.
I hope to run into you & your family one day, insh’Allah, if Allah permits. Allah Kareem!!🤲🏻
My “Best Wishes!” for you & your family! Wishing you continued success in all your endeavors!
    Salamalakium AlRhahamatullah Wa Barakattuhu!!

Brother Yusha I love you for the sake of Allah. I wanna tell you something, I'm an Arab from Tunisia (a small country at the tip of North Africa) and even though my native language is Arabic, I gotta say I love the way you pronounce Arabic words. It's an immense honor to have someone like you as a brother in Islam; one of the amazing features of this deen is the fact that it is truly an international religion. I mean when you come to think about it, what other religion in today's world has people from around the globe reciting its scripture in just one language (Arabic, that is in its original language going back more than 1400 years), reading the teachings of its prophet in that same language (Arabic) and praying in that one and only language despite the fact that the majority of Muslims around the world are not native speakers of Arabic? Incredible, right?

    الشدائد تصنع الرجال،،
You have a very rich experience.. It deserves to be in a book for others to benefit from. You are not only an imam..you educate ppl and you coach them as well. You did not have to work a shepherd in a desert like Moses did. You were not thrown in a well full of snakes like Joseph peace be upon them. These difficulties made you who you are now. you have a long distance to cover in helping others. Additionally now you have tools ibn taymiyah and imam ghazali never dreamed of. You will do more and better than what they did.

I honestly cannot really relate to a large part of your history, but I can relate to the part about mental health and loneliness. Yusha, I have a suggestion for you since you like reading. There are many beautiful stories about the biography of prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and some of his most prominent and closest companions like Abu Baker's and Omar Bin Al Khattab's biographies. My faith in Islam became so much stronger after learning about their amazing stories and all the struggles they went through in the early beginning of Islam. There are many interesting stories about their wisdom, leadership, heroism, justice, kindness that we can all learn from and teach those who don't know much about Islam.

Another example of there is no racism in Islam. 1400 years we have been hearing the word of Bilal Habeshi (RadıyaAllahu Anh) in the morning call to prayer "Prayer better then sleep".

The irony of the nation of islam. They oppose racism by being racist 🤦‍♂️ It takes a lot to wish jannah to someone who stabbed you. MashaAllah. May Allah keep me and all muslims on the straight path
