A Historic Salt Furnace in SW Arkansas

This summer at the Arkansas Archeological Survey/Society Training Program we uncovered the remains of a historic salt furnace. Watch it being excavated and Dig Director Dr. Carl Drexler explaining more about it and what a surprisingly interesting find it was. This version had the labels clarified by Jennifer Hatchett for her 2008 thesis “Archaeological and Historical Investigations of Site 41AS95, a Mid-Nineteenth-Century Salt Works on St. Charles Bay, Texas” where it appears on page 34
