What if its not ideal power source from heaven, but a battery that goes from 4.2 volts to 3 volts? How do we pick a reistor now? Why wasting so much time with green man and not explaining the only crucial info one needs to know in REAL LIFE circuit?

I'd suggest to start with the Volt Amper characteristics instead of "green man".
