The production quality is just so good
FINALLY!!!! A clutch replacement video from FCP Euro!!
@@fcpeuro The one I was looking for specifically was for the S4 / S5 B8.5 platform!
Absolutely fantastic. This helped a ton with changing my clutch and flywheel on my 2014 A5. I am one of those sorry souls to have done it with jack stands and 2 floor jacks.
Tip for anyone else that is going to do this and has the 2L V4. You can reach the top bolts from above because the engine is small. Makes it allot easier. Same go’s for the annoying bolt on the axels heat shield.
Wow, much more complicated than I imagined. I have done DIY clutch on a 2010 535i E60 RWD and 2011 E90 335i x-drive AWD BMWs and as painful as those were (reaching those top bell housing bolts), this Audi B8 S4 job is ridiculous by comparison. The E90 uses a transfer case so no need to remove axles. I knew the axles were going to add some complication, but again this is nuts.
This is helping me out a lot with my B8 2012 A4 2.0T, everything’s almost exactly the same and is going pretty smoothly compared to what I expected
Fantastic video. You nailed everything within this complex removal. It’s a lot to get done but my son was researching how to pull his on a 2014 A5. Not a lot out there and this pop up just as we were pushing it in the garage to start winging it. Thank you a ton.
Incredible video and incredible content… that said, these in-depth job videos 100% make me take the car to my trusted mechanic! I'll tackle suspension, brakes, etc... this... no thanks!
Nice work!
Great video
Great job, thanks.
Awesome guide! Can you do upper timing chain tensioners next? I've heard many people say this can be done with the engine and trans still in the car
Yo dudes great vid . I just did one of these on the ground yay. Got a tip for rear propeller shaft to rear diff stuck on. I re-installed two of the bolts about half way threaded and gently tapped on them and that popped those suckers apart.
Give this man an award...B8 S4 clutch on the ground??? True DIY pro status - and thanks for the tip!
Are you able to make a list of all the bolts that are torque to yield that need replaced when doing this job. Thank you
Excellent video! Good job! I have a question concerning the South Bend Cluth Stage 2 Daily 395ft/lbs, I've ordered one and it has (pressure plate and clutch disc) LUK stamped on it, is it normal or should I be worried, I didnt find anything about that. Thank you
My S5 is an 09 B8 with a 4.2. This should still apply as well even tho my year is not listed?
Give us some B9 content!
He is saying that everything will be listed in description below but description for this video doesn't have anything besides clutch kit-related parts...
Does anyone know the part numbers for all the bolts he is removing? like the ones that hold cross-member and flex plate?
Thanks.
No need to hold the engine by the top? On the Erwin procedure they say “Partly take up weight of engine via the spindles”.
Do you think it is not necessary?
Younger, I would always strive to buy nothing but Manual transmission vehicles. Now, well into my 50s, I enjoy my B9 S4 and its ZF8 tranny. With that being said, my friend here, Mike Hidalgo, will guide you step by step(Which seems to be in a series of videos) in order to DIY your B8 M/T clutch and Flywheel. 👍
How similar would this be on a 2014 Audi a4 2.0 t
Would this be the same for a DSG S4 b8.5
Where are the links to the hardware? I looked in the description but I’m not seeing it. Of course I can’t get that pass side 12mm on the downpipe and it’s rusted to hell.
Could these steps be similar to a 2.0t clutch job. I can't find anything good for a 2.0t clutch job
Yes they would be pretty similar. There are some differences in the clutch/flywheel assembly and you'l want to verify or double check all the the torque specifications, but the basic process is the same.
I really love the details on the jobs you do but good god is soo much work to do this job in this car. Why Audi why you use to be so simple and reliable 😂😂
It is much work for a keyboard warriors but not much work for the rest of us. Clutch and flywheel are wear items if you didn't know already.
@@Antto He has a point. You have to remove the exhaust and driveshaft. It's much more work than it used to be. A wear component shouldn't require this much effort to replace.
@@rjmari Is it a bad thing that it's more work. New technology is much better than the old technology. It's only nuts and bolts what need to be removed and that is super easy. No fabrication or welding is required so a mechanic with a concept of loosening and tightening of bolts can handle this job easily.
"A wear component shouldn't require this much effort to replace" This sounds like an opinion which is meaningless.
@@Antto That is legitimately one of the dumbest takes I've ever read. Of course it's just nuts and bolts. It's the amount of them and their location that's the problem.
At what point would you consider it too much? What if you had to remove twice or three times the amount of bolts? What if all the bolts were different sizes? What if you had to remove the whole driver side wheel assembly?
It's just nuts and bolts, right?
How much time would you need to do this job, lest say average skill level?
what's the name or part number for the dust cover on th3 bell housing @ 19:31
I have a 2010 s5 with the v8, how much different would it be to do that job?
The basic process and steps would be very similar, but there will be a number of differences especially in terms of the exhaust parts/pieces, as well as the style and design of the clutch to some extent. You would want to double check all your torque settings and specifications specific to the V8 versus this 3.0t V6.
Hey I’m looking to do this on an s5 with the v8 as well- have you done it yet?
@@eliotsgarageI have not. But this doesn’t look very fun so idk if I’ll be doing it lol
@@dopeabc1231 I just finished it not too long ago- it was my first clutch ever which didn’t help but following the video i was able to knock it out
@@fcpeuroWould the required tools be the same? Also any instructional video or post recommendations you could advise?
GL-5? Thought these took GL-4
Fantastic video guys - thank you!
I have an audi a4 2012 diesel technik 2.0 and had to replace clutch. I had to remove the engine bay removable firewall to reach the top bell housing bolts because it was impossible to get to them from behind with long socket extensions. (especially the top starter motor bolt).
Watch Hachem's video on how to remove the firewall.
ua-cam.com/video/D0ubJ_QWlG8/v-deo.htmlsi=T4_ICQp3jo5D1yNy (around 26 minutes in)
Add another hour for this extra step if you have a similar problem reaching the top bell housing bolts!
And this is EXACTLY why I'll never own an Audi/VW product. The amount of complication to work on these cars is hilarious...... and this is coming from a guy that routinely works on his 2011 Cayman and 2016 BMW M235.
Yeah, much more complicated than I imagined.
Funny enough I was just looking at a manual S4 and this video popped up as I was on the post. Must be a sign. 🤝
100% a sign Daniel
