  • An unexploded Nazi bomb which was discovered in a back garden in Plymouth has been driven through the streets and taken out to sea for disposal.
Hundreds of residents were evacuated from their homes as the military removed the 500kg explosive, which is believed to date back to the Second World War.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the device is now submerged at a "safe depth" in the sea and Royal Navy divers will plant an explosive charge on it within the next 24 hours.

Someone made the evacuation area much larger then it needed to be. They didnt want to just take the shortest route and toss it off of any old dock, huh? _Lord knows what clandestine activities ran parallel with that potato bomb_ 😂

Well during WW2 they dropped a lot of bombs in sorties (both sides) it's estimated about 10% didn't explode... this particular bomb buried itself in the ground, the whole area would've been chaotic after an attack/other explosions/fires/victims being needed to be dealt with and it wouldn't have been obvious. Most coastal ports/large cities etc were targets and these sort of UXBs and sea mines surface every now and then.
