- Talbina: Relaxation for the heart of the sick person. Talbina is a nutritious food that could reduce depression, relieve stress, and enhance mood. It is a well-known dish in Islamic tradition.
🔵 Aisha (may Allaah be pleased with her) would say (to the women), "Eat of it, for I heard the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) saying,
✨ 'The talbina soothes the heart of the patient and relieves him from some of his sadness.' " ⦗Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5058)⦘.
🔵 The Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) also said:
✨ "The talbina gives rest to the heart of the patient and makes it active and relieves some of his sorrow and grief." ⦗Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5325)⦘.
⬛️ In modern science, the following health benefits are attributed to Barley:
👉️ Barley is rich in vitamins, minerals and other beneficial plant compounds. It packs lignans, a group of antioxidants linked to a lower risk of cancer and heart disease.
👉️ Barley may reduce hunger and promote feelings of fullness - both of which may lead to weight loss over time.
👉️ Insoluble and soluble fibre content improves digestion.
👉️ May prevent gallstones and reduce your risk of gallbladder surgery
👉️ The beta-glucans found in barley have been shown to reduce “bad” LDL cholesterol by binding to bile acids.
👉️ It should come as no surprise that regularly adding barley to your diet may lower your risk of heart disease.
👉️ Barley may reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels and improving insulin secretion.

▪️ 3 tbsp of barley flour (must be 100% wholegrain barley flour)
▪️ 500ml milk
▪️ 1 tsp honey
▪️ nuts and seeds for decoration (optional)

Talbina is made by adding barley flour to milk that is heated just below the boiling point. Simmer on a low heat for 10-15 minutes until reduced and thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the pan and burning. It can be sweetened with honey. Also, you can add some nuts or seeds to decorate the dish, I prefer to use pistachios and roasted almonds.
