A short but factual history lesson - what happened 99 years ago still has consequences to our lives now!
I just love Shaykh YQs history lessons. This is a must listen it is 7 months old (given at the anniversary of the callopse of the ottoman empire), but very relevant for now!
99 years ago - the catalyst - the fall of the ottoman empire started when they sides with the wrong side in the 'great war', they should've stayed neutral like the middle east!
This caused the movement of the young Turks (anti religion) & Ata-Turk.
Shaykh YQ lists 7 effects & consequences of the abolishment of the ottoman empire (the khilafa). Starting with world war 1 and the new Divisions made by west/people in power (Sykes Pico) when they drew imaginary lines on the world map, those who wanted to divide.... hence we have nation states and all the problems that came with it! They divided the ummah!
A direct consequence is connected to the Palestinian cause.
It is imperative that we know and learn history !
At the end of the day Allah always has hikmah (wisdom) in what He does, our job is to make the best of every situation we are in!

Thank you. I like the way, and your details about abolishing of Khilafat-e-Islamia and connecting it systematically to Khalifate Movement in the Subcontinent and eventual emergence of Pakistan. My grandfather was active in collecting donations and sending it to Hilal-e-Ahmar in Turkey in 1912. I still have the original letters exchanged, and the details of amount sent to Turkey. Coming to the point, your idea of Ummah broken by Nationalism is very valid. The Khilafat, carrying a sense of a central constitutional head of Muslim Ummah, was a cause of anxiety for the Christian World for long. The opportunity, to abolish it, was provided to Britain after WW1. But they liked the concept and, I think, they established their own “Khilafat”, sort of, i.e. The Commonwealth of Nations in 1931 CE. It is good to hear that the establishment of Khilafat is becoming a global concern of Muslims! (Abridged from my Seerat Book, 2021. Nusrat K. Siddiqui, Pakistan).

Thanks for this. Yes, the creation of these nation states is a serious and poisoning issue. Artificial borders were orchestrated. Just 6 points:
First point: in 1258, Baghdad was attacked by Mongols. Muslims remained without a caliph for 3 years until one Abbasid managed to go to Cairo and the position was reinstated again. But sadly, it was with no power.
Second point: Fatimids were not legitimate. All Muslim historians like Suyooti did not consider them.
Third point: Yes, Caliphate had its ups and downs.
Fourth point: Ottoman caliphate was actually destroyed in 1909 when Sultan Abdul Hamid was removed by Young Turks. What happened in 1924 is issuing the death certificate.
Fifth point: Mustafa Kamal role was artificial. Britain made this figure and even offered him fake victories. Some new documents and publications proof this.
Sixth and final point: Ummatic concept has to be reinstated. Such concept transcends nationalism.
    Jazakum Allah Kahyran

There’s a very insightful discussion on Blogging Theology on how Mustafa Kemal kept his true agenda hidden. There are also hints at how his initial successes in repelling the Allied Forces might have been orchestrated to boost his popularity. Those who agreed with his call for reforms were taken aback by his later decisions. Even those who were his staunchest supporters were shocked at the abolishment.
The lecture is called ‘What happened on 3rd March 1924’ by Abdul Wahid and Br Paul Williams on blogging theology.

Salamou alaykoum brother, would it be possible to send out a message to all the muslims and non-muslims who watch your channel about the 'blood dates' from occupied Palestine? Ramadan is starting soon and we see so much dates in stores and supermarkets, but what shocks me is that a huge part (if not almost 80%) is from occupied Palestine!! For the zionists who trade in these blood-dates, Ramadan is THE period to sell their products and boost their sales and economy. There are a lot of muslims who don't check the label on the box, they just buy it and regret it later.. so please, you have so much followers, so much people that watch your videos all around the world. I myself am from the Netherlands, so you're well-known everywhere! Would it be possible to make a small video about this or just pass the message? May Allah SWT reward you for all your efforts, good deeds and protect you and your loved ones, ameen. Salamou alaykoum.

Just a small correction and I am sorry for that : "the position of a Khalifa was never reinstated, either in Turkey or anywhere else in the world (...)" except in Morocco (and other countries in West Africa) where we consider the king as our amir al mou'minine and we give him bay'ah. Even if it does not affect the majority of the Muslim world (and that some may disagree), this fact is worth mentioning and also shows that the concept of caliphate has not disappeared 100%

Sheikh I love you for the sake of Allah and I admire your work and I am watching all your materials consistently since years but I politely disagree on some points here. For example: sense of ummah was weakened after collapse of khilafah? we need to realise that before nationalism in many if not most muslim lands there was something much worse. Tribalism. Whether its indonesia, central asia or morocco, since hundreds of years before collapse of khilafah we had constant local wars and power struggles, and thats the very reason (among many others) why all those lands were colonised so easily in the first place. Among arabs until today its very common to strongly identify with certain tribe and there are constant conflicts and beefs. In Israel itself young palestinians are killing each other in dozens every year because of such hatred and bad blood between particular families. I know you didnt have time to mention that but I would put a big question mark to which extent average, illeterate muslim in XIX century who barely had any idea about anything exceot his village had any idea about "ummah".

There is no other country in the world that became illiterate in 1 night as it happened in Turkey by abolishing the Arabic alphabet and replacing it with Latin. The understanding of modernity as if it should mean complete disconnect from history is a huge sadness.

Shaikh Yasir Qadhi and the others like him who have this obsession against Khilafah always miss the main point, and attack some straw-man they build. Any ideological system can be a subject of human misapplication, and this human misapplication or mistakes doesn’t make the system incorrect. Khilafah is the divine Islamic system based on Quran and Sunnah, only legitimate system without any hypocrisy in its doctrines, and no other man made system is allowed for Muslims, for good reasons. But nobody says it is or would be some kind of utopia, or it will make the world paradise, because paradise comes after death. But if implemented correctly, it brings justice for all or it sincerely strives its best for justice. It prioritizes ensuring the basic rights for everyone. That’s why we call for the righteous Caliphate - Khilafah Rashidah. In the history, problems mainly happened because the Muslim caliphs moved away from Islam or maybe weren’t educated or mature enough, and so made mistakes, and it is a long history of 1300 years, so it’s not surprising. That doesn’t make the system any problematic. But now, without Khilafah, we don’t have anything to protect us, we have some selfish nation states who don’t stand for anything but some “interests” they feel fit for them, which changes constantly. And we see more bloodshed under these secular immoral capitalistic nationalist regimes, so it’s very weird to grasp why people like Yasir Qadhi are so obsessed about keeping these secular haram corrupted nationalist states that constantly bring injustice and oppression.
