this series is based off a manga written by a female....i'm sure she put the characters in revealing clothing to market it better to men and females but the point is at least its not a man doing it..her editors sadly were men that convinced her to do it as were the people in the magazine she had to please to make money for that I am sure pushed her to do that as well i am sure and so were most animators back then which makes it creepier
For the record, I feel like doug took the whole 14 years old thing a bit too far, the transformations were never meant to be the way he was implying. For one thing, Salior moon was created by a women and the transformations were meant to be a respresentation of graceful ballett dances.
As a Sailor Moon fan boy, both the original 90s anime and the new Sailor Moon Crystal are quite good. Yes, the original does contain a ton of filler episodes (lasting 200 episodes, where the manga was only 60 chapters) but some of the filler had purpose. Like where Naru falls in love with Nephrite, and he dies in her arms a few episodes later. And yes, there was an entire story arc that was pure filler (the Makai Tree), but it's actually quite good. Two aliens have to learn that love is something to be earned, not taken.
well duh..usagi is a normal girl forced to be a sailor scout...shes not an alien like the others who retained their reincarnation memories..she slowly gains them and bonds but she is still a 14-16 year old girl most of the damn series
Charlie, may I suggest something to you, not necessarily as part of the show as I am not sure how it would work or how protective creators are over their material, just something I think you might find interesting
@@MynameisCharlie Cool. Then there is one that I think is a little interesting from an Analysis perspective. It's a reaction to the same review by a UA-camr known as MisAnthro Pony. The analysis does get a little mean spirited towards Nostalgia Critic at times, although that having then said I still think it adds a bit of layer to the video when looking at it from someone else's perspective
Actually he has 2 others that again, can get a bit mean spirited towards Nostalgia Critic at time, but still provide some interesting cross analysis as well. MisAnthro Pony also did a reaction to Nostalgia Critics Reviews of the Live Action Jungle Book & Deadpool 2. Just saying, I don't know if you have done those yet as I don't remember all the Nostalgia Critics you have covered perfectly. Again, even if for just a personal watch though I think those would be good to cover after you have gotten to the initial reviews
First you said.. you don´t know this i was shocked.. Thought this people were just legends.😂 To be fair, this show is getting pretty intense in the end. >SPOILERS< Serena "Usagi ( Bunny ) Tsukino" Sacrifices herself to saves her friends and the earth. From a todays perspective, kinda lame, but back then it was incredibly. And excause me, safe/happy places exsists, i was in therapy were i had to discover them.
I really cant stabd this review of sailer moon. As i said i the past, this was the video that made me stop watching the NC. If you wanna hear exactly why, i suggest watchibg mis anthro ponies review. He explains it better than i ever could as to ehy this review isnt that good.
I've not watched this video, but before I do, I'm going to form my own opinion, I'm going to be honest with you, I felt like a fish out of water, I didn't feel like I was in my confort zone, as I don't remember much about sailor moon, I remember watching this as a kid, but the memories are fleeting, I didn't want to agree with the nostalgia critic at the end, mostly because I've not seen this in such a long time, and mostly because, I got the feeling the nostalgia critic did not know what he was talking about, I've disagreed with a lot of what nostalgia critic has said in the past, and it's always left me with one eye open, never truley trusting his reviews, I felt like he was out of his depth on this one, you could feel it, as if he's never really watched the entire series, and he's just working from information from the internet and other people's thoughts, this felt like a quick brush off, I felt like he was jangling keys in front of my face, saying, oh look at the keys, look at the keys, it's funny, agree with me, but yeah, I don't accpet his review, if you wan't a job done right, you got to do it yourself, and form your own opinion, and that's what I'm going to do while watching sailor moon, but I'm a little tired of the nostalgia critic beating me over the head with comedy moments to get his way, when he does not know what he's talking about, and he's clearly just working on a bunch of information on google, and other people, 😖
@@gamerguys83 You have a point there. Plus if anyone enjoys this review, that's fine. I think i may be somewhat biased about this because I grew up with sailor moon and the whole #Changethechannal controversy didn't help.
Personally speaking i don't watch NC for his reviews. But his ability to give his opinions in an entertaining manner. Sometimes i don't agree with his opinions. Sometimes i agree with him. Once in a while, he gives a good point of view which i haven't thought before. A few times i see him as completely missing the point. But all in all these are opinions by somebody given in a way to entertain. I really like NC. But there is no issue with anyone not liking him. Its almost like a TV show.
Hi, Charlie. Just to give a little context (since you haven't seen it yet), that last gag about the last formula was a rip on Demo Reel, a show Doug tried to do after ending Nostalgia Critic. It bombed big time. I only saw two episodes before I stopped watching.
Well, reilly, it sure as shit ain't the legend of the titanic, that's for damn sure, but i'm thinking Nostalgia Critic: Face/Off, or something on those lines, ^_^
This was actually the first anime I remember watching along with dragon ball z on cartoon network as part of toonami when I was in preschool, and the viz dub of it is way better than the old english one from the 90s. I highly recommend the viz dub of sailor moon, it's completely uncut and it's got some familiar voices like Johnny young Bosch (ichigo from bleach), cristina vee (shantae from shantae), stephanie sheh (voice of hinata from naruto), and others.
well, i like sailor moon fine. while it did have nitpicks/problems, i did like the decent animation, and interested in the uranus/neptune lesbian relationship (but no, they dubbed 'em in the english version as incestual cousins, which i didn't like) and at least, i'd take serena a.k.a. sailor moon over bella swan anyday. to me, sailor moon anime is fine and a bit of a guilty pleasure.
I’m currently watching this anime and holy crap I love it so much and the Hulu dub is the best way to watch it and I’m saying that because in his review he’s just showing the butcherd America version and why I’m saying the Hulu version is better because it actually is way better than the America export and those crappy PSAs are not there, yes I’m a weeb and not ashamed of it, also sailor mars is best girl people

Yes, but there's also the fact that Sailor Moon, the manga in particular, was initially made for teenage and adult men.
I'm sorry, but those zoom-ins on her hips were definitely not vital to the transformation.
*Guys can watch Sailor Moon if they want to.*
This video was 50% Nc freaking about the age and 50 % Charlie saying "I think I remember this"
You know... I think i remember this... 🤔- (Just Joking, 😂)

The anime is a lot better than what Doug is making it out to be here. I'm not a fan of it personally, but my brother is.

The anime had some good moments, I watched it as a kid along with DBZ. There are worse things out there and the theme song is catchy...crap!
